## Overview

Ray Behrens is a scenic campground and recreation area, conveniently located on the southeastern shores of Mark Twain Lake. Here, visitors can enjoy the perks of the campground, go boating on the lake or explore the area's historic attractions.   
  
Twain, the legendary author, was born in a village beside the lake and grew up in a town about 20 miles down the road.

Mark Twain Lake provides countless opportunities for outdoor recreation - boating, swimming, fishing, picnicking, camping, hiking and hunting to name a few. 

## Facilities

Ray Behrens Campground has three loops: Deer Run, Little Bluestem and Cedar Ridge. All campsites come with electric hookups. Showers and accessible flush toilets are in close proximity of every site. The park also features a marina and playgrounds.

## Natural Features

The Salt River flows through rolling hills of north-central Missouri, where it is dammed to form the 18,000-acre Mark Twain Lake. A variety of recreation areas surround the lake, including the Mark Twain State Park. 

## Nearby Attractions

Beside the lake is the village of Florida, where Mark Twain was born. Twenty-five miles east is the town of Hannibal, where visitors can tour the author's boyhood home.

Nestled in the Salt River Hills of north-central Missouri, Mark Twain State Park gives visitors access to sprawling Mark Twain Lake, as well as unparalleled outdoors activities. The terrain is covered by bluffs overlooking the lake and stands of oak, hickory and maple that are filled with white-tailed deer, turkey and other wildlife. Numerous picnic areas, two four-lane boat ramps and more than 6 miles of hiking trails with lake views offer something for everyone.

Mark Twain State Park offers basic and electric campsites, a special-use camping area and a group camp. For a little extra space, try one of the park's family campsites in Puma Campground.

You are now able to reserve your Missouri State Parks campsite up to 12 months in advance, expanding from the previous six-month window.

**Enjoy an Elevated Rustic Camping Experience! **Step off the beaten path and down to The Meadow, where you'll likely find delightful wildlife on the land, in the air and water. Keep an eye out for native plants changing through the seasons. For our angler guests, easy access behind the stage provides an opportunity for the prize fish passing by from Mark Twain Lake. In addition to walking paths, guests can enjoy sand volleyball, horseshoe pits, corn hole, and more! Come visit us! Easy to find on the Avenue of Saints just south of Historic Hannibal, Mo. at the Salt River Bridge.

Hello there! We (Christina & Brian) are excited to share our 80 acres with you! At the moment we offer only dispersed camping. We want to keep it as "Organic" as possible! So, there will only be 1 main gravel road, that is mostly covered in gravel at the moment. NO concrete or asphalt areas. Heavy rains will in-hinder on how far you can travel in. Either way, we can assist you, unless you are an RV. If you like, we have a large metal wagon that you can hand pull or pull by our truck. You are welcome to bring your UTV, but only to move your equipment and guests back and forth to our site or your vehicle. We are willing to show you around before you set up camp. If you are coming in at dark, we can suggest a campsite, then you can move in the daylight if you like. FIREWOOD: We have more than you can handle as this land has been harvested for timber prior to our purchase. We also encourage you to take some as long you use it up while in Missouri. We highly encourage that you unplug while you are here, but not required. We do want you to have your phone with you for safety and capturing moments while you are here. If you are bold and want to enjoy nature nudist style, that is welcomed, but ONLY at your campsite and maybe a larger area for an additional fee once you arrive. This place is NOT a nudist camp, but it is private enough that you can be comfortable in your area. We thank you for taking the time to read our post. Small family owned campground along the Mississippi River. The campground is in a country setting but yet minutes away from the downtown area. 35 full hook up sites most with concrete pads .

You’re not likely to meet King T’Challa or Captain America at this Wakonda, but you can enjoy enough camping fun, water recreation, and wildlife watching to make you feel like you’re visiting that mystical Marvel realm. Located just 10 minutes south of La Grange, Wakonda State Park is 1000 acres of sand prairies, shady woods, and six scenic lakes. Interestingly, the park landscape is not entirely natural. Composed of ancient glacial gravel deposits, the area was excavated extensively from the 1920s through the 1980s for road-building materials. Once the gravel deposits were exhausted, the area was restored into a recreation area. In addition to providing an outdoor recreation space for locals and visitors, the park is a popular birding area for its thousands of resident and migrating waterfowl. 

 Visitors to Wakonda State Park have access to more than 80 tent and RV campsites in two areas. The larger Boulder Lake Campground features basic, electric, and full-hookup site options. The smaller Wakanda Lake Campground offers only electric-only sites. There are six ADA accessible sites. Each campground provides restrooms and shower houses; the Boulder Lake area also has water faucets, laundry facilities and a dump station; the Wakanda Lake site has a kid’s play area. All campsites are equipped with picnic tables, cooking grills, and lantern posts. Dogs are permitted in the park, but must remain leashed in designated areas. This park accepts reservations; campsites rates are $12–$28/night.

 The main attraction at Wakonda State Park is its six lakes, and all the water recreation they have to offer. Anglers can cast for largemouth bass, catfish, crappie and bluegill on Agate, Quartz, Jasper and Wakonda lakes; kayak and SUP paddlers can enjoy the water trails on Agate, Jasper and Wakonda lakes. There are two boat launches for putting in motorized watercraft; the others are carry-in only. Kayak rentals are available. For sunbathing and swimming, visitors can spread out blankets at the large sand beach on Wakonda Lake. The park also has more than 7 miles of multi-use trails for hiking and biking. These are ideal for birdwatching or admiring some of the park’s rare prairie flora.
