Perfect Rustic Campground

This first come, first served rustic state campground is perfect for the nature enthusiast. Butting up to Tomahawk Lake and surrounded by the Atlanta State Forest Area, you are close to Oqueoc Falls, hiking trails, and other natural wonders northern Michigan has to offer. Chipmunks are fearless, so…

Decent campground

There are two sides to this campground. North side and south side. North side has much closer lots and is busier, playground nearby, beach, pavilion. South side has more covered, spacious, private sites. The bathrooms and showers are old and not the best. There is no place for washing dishes and…

About Average

Not very secluded + close to the road. Clean and well kept, and friendly DNR staff. Easy access to the lake, and not far from restaurants and gas stations-hence the road, lol. If you’re after middle-of-nowhere peace and quiet, keep looking. But if clean, comfortable and easy access to town/supplies…

Good family camp

This is a nice big campground within a short walk of lake huron and a beautiful light house. Camp sites are all very close together providing very little privacy. Bathrooms were clean with private individual shower stalls and hot water. Lots of big RVs and family campers here. Overall nice place.

Love Mack Lake

Great campground with great campground hosts. Large sites some with water views. Beach area. Clean pit toilets and water. Campground hosts had wood available when we were there.

Busy, Crowded Campground

Full transparency—we did not stay at this campground but only drove through it as research for future trips. What we saw on a sunny Saturday in July did not tempt us to return. This is a large state park on a beautiful inland lake. There are several camping areas within the campground, and they…

Home

Higgins Lake is home for me! Now that I have moved away, my high school friends and I reconnect at this campground. We are all from the area and had the pleasure of growing up right next to this beautiful lake! It is Crystal clear and walk out for a long ways before it drops off. The campground is…

Quiet and Clean!

This KOA was well kept and clean. Great bathrooms and showers, pool, playground. the only thing keeping from 5 stars in my opinion is the lack of grass, but I also love all the trees so it’s a toss up.

Nice Large Private Site #21

Bathroom was clean, site was large surrounded by tall pine trees. Picnic table was HC accessible. Fire pit ring. I'm a motocamper and suited my needs. No trash, so take what you brought in plus some.

Our last resort! But not a bad one.

Being that most of the camping spots up here are first come first serve our first two options were already taken. We fell back to this being our final option and it was not a bad one. Albeit there was a huge Gypsy moth spawn happening so the worms were literally everywhere but it wasn't too much of…

Big Bear Lake

This was a nice and quiet spot, but not much to do in the area. The lake has a beach, but it has been covered by water and the water is kinda gross looking, but we still got in. There are some nice trails nearby, but nowhere close to ride your bike. The Lakeview spots are nice (we didn't have one).…

Peaceful National Forest Campground

Very nice campground on Kneff Lake in the Huron-Manistee National Forest. The campground road is blacktop in great condition. There are 2 loops. The lower loop (1-18) has gravel spurs and the upper loop (19-27) has blacktop spurs. Sites are generously sized and fairly well spaced. This is dry…

Do not go to this campground if you are expecting a good time.

This is one of the worst campgrounds I have ever been to. The bathrooms and showers close at 10pm, and the restrooms themselves are nasty, the showers cost $2 (in quarters) for 6 minutes of lukewarm water, the locals are hostile to unfamiliar faces, and to top it off, the rental ATVs and dirt track…
