Quaint and Close to town

Small campground with boat launch, shower house, and bathrooms. Connect’s to a park with playground and pickleball court. Easy to walk or ride your bicycle into town for ice cream. No swim beach but good fishing opportunities on the thunder river.

Nice but camp host needed

Large campground composed or 5 loops. Many have a trail leading to the water. Hiking and biking paths within the campground along with a nice boat ramp. Trash on sites and dirty outhouses along with lots of generators and after hour noise was a downside.

No lake sites

Good campground on a nice fishing lake. Large wooded sites but none that have lake access unfortunately

Too close for comfort

This area is separate from the big bear lake campground and is busier due to the boat launch. Sites are close together without much privacy

Quiet private camping on a small but charming lake

Large wooded sites- many with lake access. Clean and stocked outhouses. Small lake but opportunities for fishing and swimming. Some road noise is noticeable.

Big lake but no direct water sites

Peaceful and quiet and close to the sinkhole pathway. Clean bathrooms and large mostly private sites. You can launch your boat and beach it near the campground and your campsite but no direct access that we saw.

Slice of paradise!

This hidden gem has large private sites..many with direct lake access. There is a beach/swim area as well as a small trail from the beach to the boat launch. Good fishing and clean outhouses too!

Beach front campsites

Most of the campsites here need to be reserved-there are only a handful of first come. Whichever site you get there is beach front access with an actual sandy beach! Very little boat traffic, no homes on this lake, an excellent biking/hiking trail around the lake too. Bathrooms were cleaned daily and camp hosts were very friendly. Cell service is almost non existent and quite a few generators running.

Off the beaten path

Great campground on a lake perfect for lots of water sports. Bathrooms were clean and most sites are on the lake. The hiking trail is a bit overgrown and goes through a swampy area with lots of mosquitoes. Beware that the route to get here is on a dirt road, heavily washboarded and took us about 30-40 minutes from the main highway. Otherwise an amazing secluded camping area!

Small campground with loads to do

Lake with boat ramp, fishing areas off the beach, lots of wildlife, north country trail and campground trail to hike on, and ORV trail across the road
