Best RV Parks & Resorts near Henderson, KY

John James Audubon State Park Campground in Henderson operates from April through November, providing RV sites with 30/50 amp electrical hookups, water connections, and sewer hookups. Within 30 miles, Western Kentucky RV Park in Central City features 48 full-hookup sites that accommodate large rigs. Burdette Park near Evansville offers year-round RV camping with electric, water, and sewer connections, though sites are somewhat compact. Sun Outdoors Lake Rudolph in Santa Claus has 256 sites open May through October with 30/50 amp service, full hookups, and concrete pads. "Sites are close together, and 33-P is terrible. Took me an hour and an engineering degree to get it leveled safely," noted one camper.

Pull-through sites vary across the region, with many parks offering both back-in and pull-through options for easier access. Rocky Falls Campground provides electric, sewer, and water hookups but receives mixed reviews regarding maintenance. Scales Lake Park near Boonville includes a dump station, showers, and multiple hookup options for motorhomes. Several campgrounds accommodate pets with designated walking areas. During peak summer months and fall weekends, advance reservations are strongly recommended, especially for larger motorhome sites. According to one visitor, "The RV sites are kinda cramped. We prefer the primitive sites on the other side of the lake." Most RV parks in the area maintain clean shower facilities and trash collection, while some offer additional amenities like swimming access and recreational activities.

    Windy Hollow Camp and Recreation

    Price Gouging

I have a class A 50 amp RV and got put in a 30 amp pull thru with no sewer hookup and no wifi or cable and duck and goose poo everywhere .  The lady I assume was the owner is extremely rude and charges 60$ a day for.  The bathroom facilities are filthy and whatever you do don't buy any of the smelly outdated crap in the office store that reeks of musty mold.  Worst 4 days ever.

    Burdette Park

    Nice little sute

Burdette Park is on the west side of Evansville. Really nice park! Currently we are full timing there. They have maybe 24 full huck up spots and about 10 or so w/o sewer. 30/50 amp electric on all. All pads are drive through and very level. They don't have much going on in winter but summertime is great. Pool, trails, BMX racing on Friday nights and tons of shelters for your get-togethers! Wonderful camp managers!

Lake Lincoln Campground — Lincoln State Park

    Very nice!

Lincoln State Park in Southern Indiana. About as far South as you can go! (In Indiana!). We did a weekend visit.

150 electric sites. There's 30 & 50 Amp sites with water at each site!

6 handicap sites. There are NO pull through sites.

The best sites are by Lake Lincoln- 40 & 41. 39 is ok, but all 3 of these sites are in the sun most of the day. Also, 40 & 41 are not ON the lake. Trail 1 & a wide grassy area are before the water. The only advantage IMO is an unobstructed view of the water & a short walk to the lake.

The sites seemed short, but people were able to park very large rigs in them. Check the site dimensions before booking or call the office to make sure you'll fit.

There's a large primitive campground. They have a modern bath house with showers. Some cabins.

There's 2 bath houses in the electric side with flush toilets & showers. Very clean for a state park!

      A double dump station.

6 trails from easy to moderate. The longest is 3.7 miles.

Boating & fishing are popular, but electric motor only. There's boat rental.

There's a beach, but closed after Labor Day. The camp store is in the pavilion by the beach & has limited hours after Labor Day.

      There's a small nature center.

Lots of history in the park & in the area. Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial is directly across the road from the state park

. Santa Claus Indiana& Holiday World are nearby.

Lake Lincoln Campground — Lincoln State Park

    Very nice State Park

Very nice state park campground with electric, (50 on some, 30 on some), and water hookups. Two clean shower houses. Two dump stations. Lake for swimming, fishing, canoe, paddle boat and Jon boat rentals. Hiking trails and fire tower. Typical camp store on site. Gas station with propane about a mile from the camp ground. Has primitive sites and cabin rentals also. The park has a large outdoor covered amphitheater with several concerts throughout the season. Most sites are pretty level. There are a few that are not. The majority of the sites have at least partial shade. Weekends are usually booked up in advance. Through the week is no problem getting your choice of sites. Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial is adjacent to the State park. It has a living farm. Both are free. Admission to the state park is $7.00 per vehicle or a Indiana State Park annual pass for $50.00 gets you into any Indiana state park anytime for the year. You can book through reserveamerica.com or calling the park directly.

    Timber Ridge Outpost & Cabins

    Not bad

Paid $35 per night for 2 nights after our Passport America discount. Not sure it would have been worth the full price. Full hookups. 50amp, water (55psi), and sewer. Cell coverage for AT&T and Verizon were both adequate to stream and work. The check-in process was a bit slow. We kinda expected that since it took us a dozen calls just to get someone to pick up the phone to make a reservation. We were first in line at check-in and spent at least 10 minutes going over all sorts of rules and information. Luckily we showed up at 3:05pm because they charge $25 for "early check-in" any time before 3pm. We're full-time RVers and have stayed at nearly 140 campgrounds and that's the first time we've seen something before 3pm called "early" and that's a pretty steep price for check-in. Our entire section of the campground was empty. Our neighbors actually showed up at 2pm and opted to wait an hour in the parking lot to go to their un-occupied site rather than paying $25. But besides the check-in, the campground was beautiful. Plenty of tree cover. The roads are paved and easy to navigate. Many of the amenities are closed for covid but there were still people riding around on their bikes. Definitely a bike-centric park with trails and bike paths around. It's not located next door to Traverse City but it's not far to get to most things. We camped at Timber Ridge Campground & Recreation Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

    Scales Lake Park

    Starve Hollow Park INDIANA

Very quiet though it is winter season. There is still water available and a place to dump. We camped close to the lake in a pull through site. This time of year very few campers. But everyone I encountered even park staff was very friendly.

    Pine Ridge

    Peaceful

Trying out my recently purchased 17’ clipper travel trailer. Loved the area and the campsites are very roomy, especially for a small camper. There were a few other folks camping that weekend but still very quiet. The left loop has power 50/30/20 amp hook ups but no water or sewer on the campsite. Great location for hiking trails and it’s exactly 23 Miles to Walmart. We will definitely stay here again. Fall foliage was kick’n too. And it was only $10 a night!!!

    Hilltop Campground

    Small town campground

They have just redone this camp ground with new concrete pads, new bathhouse, and new electrical. It’s very peaceful. Some people may leave their camper there all season but that’s only a couple of spots. Not bad for a small campground in a small community.

Guide to Henderson

Near Henderson, Kentucky, RV enthusiasts find a mix of state park and commercial camping options scattered around the western Kentucky landscape. This agricultural region sits at approximately 400 feet elevation with humid summers and mild winters. The Green River and Ohio River valleys create natural boundaries for campers exploring the area's limestone terrain and woodland camping spots.

What to do

Fishing access: Livermore RV Park offers direct boat ramp access to the Green River. "Live quietly! This peaceful little town has a wonderfully cared for rv park right on the boat ramp to the green river," notes Brandon R., who also mentions the "shower house and a nice pavilion for use."

Water activities: At Scales Lake Park, campers can enjoy swimming at the lake's beach area. "There is a boat ramp for fishing boats and kayaks... a beautiful lake front for swimming with water slide and diving boards," says Jennifer T.

Hiking trails: John James Audubon State Park Campground features several hiking paths. "There are some very nice hiking trails and a great museum and nature center," explains MISTY P. However, be aware of pet restrictions as Drew C. points out, "if you have a dog there's only one trail that is dog friendly."

Holiday World access: Sun Outdoors Lake Rudolph in nearby Santa Claus, Indiana provides a popular basecamp for families visiting the adjacent theme park. "The location of the campground is perfect if you're visiting for Holiday World / Splashin' Safari," explains Danielle V.

What campers like

Halloween events: Lake Rudolph's seasonal festivities attract many campers. "We went to Lake Rudolph for their Halloweekends and it is a one of a kind experience. They have so many activities for the kids such as hayrides, a DJ, pumpkin carving," writes Ashley D., who was impressed by "seeing the campsites and golf carts decorated and lit up at night."

Affordable options: Livermore RV Park gets high marks for value. "Affordable!!!" emphasizes Brandon R., while another review mentions, "the monthly is amazingly low. You can opt to pay for 50 or 30 amp service."

Quiet weekends: John James Audubon State Park offers a peaceful setting. "It's never been crowded when we went which is nice for our family," says MISTY P., describing it as "our go to park for a last minute getaway where we don't have to worry about making reservations months in advance."

What you should know

Site arrangement: RV parks near Henderson, Kentucky vary widely in layout and spacing. At Burdette Park, "All pads are drive through and very level," according to Barry B., while other campers note tighter arrangements where "the sites are very close together, so when the campsites are full you don't feel like you have much privacy."

Seasonal operation: Several campgrounds in the area have limited operating seasons. John James Audubon State Park operates "April 1 to November 30," while Sun Outdoors Lake Rudolph runs "May 1 - Oct 31."

Noise considerations: Some campgrounds have highway proximity issues. At John James Audubon State Park, "the campground is layed out parallel to highway 41. The sound of traffic whizzing by on the highway is constant," warns Laura E., adding that "lights of those businesses shine into the campground."

Tips for camping with families

Children's amenities: Western Kentucky RV Park offers basic family facilities. "There is a nice little playground for kids as well," mentions Chris O., though Amanda E. cautions, "The playground was not something I'd let my child play on."

Family activities: Scales Lake Park provides multiple recreation options. "Two playgrounds, little petting zoo for kids. Beach area with small fee," notes Jessica D., while another reviewer adds, "my daughter enjoyed the playground and the petting zoo."

Alternative camping styles: For families seeking more privacy, primitive sites offer better separation. Laura D. advises about Scales Lake Park: "The RV sites are kinda cramped. We prefer the primitive sites on the other side of the lake. Literally just a picnic table and fire pit."

Tips from RVers

Site selection: At Rocky Falls Campground, RV sites have mixed reviews. "Pretty run down spot. Bathrooms were very dirty and sketchy," reports Luke, suggesting experienced RVers should carefully research before booking.

Leveling challenges: Western Kentucky RV Park offers practical parking. "Back in and stay awhile. Parking is easy on the gravel lot," says Chris O., contrasting with other rv parks near Henderson, Kentucky that may require more setup work.

Hookup availability: Most area RV parks offer full connections. Barry B. reports Burdette Park has "maybe 24 full huck up spots and about 10 or so w/o sewer. 30/50 amp electric on all," providing options for various RV needs.
