Best Campgrounds near Webster, FL

CAMPER SUMMARY PRESENTED BYFord

Webster, Florida serves as a gateway to a mix of developed campgrounds and primitive sites, particularly around the Withlacoochee State Forest. Campground options in this central Florida region include established sites like River Junction Campground, which provides tent camping along the Little Withlacoochee River, and Silver Lake Campground, which accommodates both tent and RV campers. The area contains several natural water features that attract campers, with most campgrounds offering convenient access to I-75 while maintaining natural surroundings characterized by oak trees and diverse wildlife habitats.

The Withlacoochee State Forest campgrounds typically provide water hookups and toilets, with some locations offering electric hookups and dump stations for RVs. Road conditions can vary significantly, particularly at River Junction Campground where primitive access roads may present challenges during wet weather. Most tent and RV sites in the region require reservations through state forest systems, though some areas maintain first-come, first-served options. Summer brings higher temperatures and humidity, while winter offers more comfortable camping conditions. A camper noted, "The road in called SW 113 ST was hardcore off road muddy driving. We pay for the sites so the road in could have been a lot less treacherous. Potholes all the way to the site."

Several visitors highlight the natural setting and water access as primary attractions. Camping areas like Crooked River and Cypress Glen offer spaces under mature oak trees providing welcome shade during Florida's warmer months. Sumter Oaks RV Park receives consistent mentions for its wildlife viewing opportunities and green spaces. "The park is very well kept and staff were wonderful. All of our neighbors were very friendly as well, this park really has a great community vibe," reported one reviewer. Seasonal variations affect water levels in the river systems, with one visitor explaining that "Late spring into summer river is high and fast. This time of year low and slow. By March/April its really low." Sites along water features typically fill quickly during peak periods, while more secluded forest locations may offer greater privacy but fewer amenities.

    Colt Creek State Park Campground

    Beautiful Park/ Campground

Beautiful park..stayed 2 nights. Great scenery, lakes and wildlife. We've seen Deer, Tuerkeys, rabbits and more. Campground is clean, neatly maintained and spacious private lots. The cell service here is non-existent!! And personal wifi struggles. Overall great stay.

    Cypress Glen Campground

    Thanksgiving Week Family Camping

This is a great campground for getting away and getting outdoors. The campground is very well kept and clean. It is very quiet and secluded. You can hear the hum of the interstate when outside, but it is not noticeable inside the camper. There are plenty of hiking trails and you can ride a bike for miles on the paved withlacoochee state trail which is accessible just across the street from the campground entrance. You also have access to silver lake as well as crooked river. Would highly recommend this campground.

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground

    Love the campground

We stayed here for two weeks and loved it. The staff were wonderful and everything was clean. Our one issue was that a lot of campers do not respect the quiet time hours, and disney does not enforce it. You will have golf carts far past 11pm just cruising around the loops going very fast and playing loud music. Otherwise was great.

    Kelly Park Campground

    Great Hiking and Ammenities

Kelly Park Campground was overall very good. Amenities were solid. Multiple showers in the bath house, accessible water at each lot, a pavement slab and individual electricity hookup for each lot. I wish the lot sizes were a touch larger, but no real issue there. The views and natural blue springs along the hiking trails were awesome. Great to take a dip if it is hot or just spectacular views and photo opps. Bonus is the campgrounds were only a short 10-12 min drive to a really cool music venue, Apopka Amphitheatre. While they don't have a ton of acts come through there, the last time I visited I saw a couple of prominent bands, so you can definitely make a neat trip out of camping and seeing a show if that is your thing (it is for me :)

I will definitely come back here for camping, hiking or even just a day out with the family as there is tons to do in the park, springs, etc.

Mutual Mine Youth Group Campground — Withlacoochee State Forest

    Simple and quiet

We love this campground because it’s so close to home. It’s clean quiet with large sites. You can hear traffic but cannot see the road. Some sites more secluded than others but all are good size. Clean bathrooms and property.

    Cypress Creek Preserve

    Nice visit

There are pot holes as you drive in that are kinda steep however nothing too serious. The spots are spacious and all other campers were respectful of noise volume and kept spots clean.

What to do

Kayaking the Withlacoochee River: Visitors to River Junction Campground can access multiple paddling routes. "Very cool little place for primitive camping. All the sites are cut out so that you have some privacy from the neighboring sites. There are a couple of sites that you can't reserve, first come first serve, pay in cash at the iron ranger. Site 1 is that way and you could paddle into it. 14 and 16 can be reserved and also paddled into."

Wildlife viewing: The forests and wetlands around Webster host diverse wildlife year-round. At Sumter Oaks RV Park, "This is a visually nice park with a lot of shade, full hook ups, showers and laundry. The big downside is the road is heavily trafficked in the morning by construction type dump trucks. Not bad overall, staff and other campers were friendly which is always a plus. Lots of wildlife and a farm next door with goats and donkeys."

Seasonal river experiences: Water levels change dramatically throughout the year at campsites near Webster, Florida. "We went here after our Hog Island stay this place is pretty nice. The camp site we have has a pretty view and it's a good sized site. Some areas at this campground are smaller and in the sun so try to find a spot that fits what you are looking for."

What campers like

Secluded camping sites: Crooked River Campground offers private tent sites with natural buffers. "My boyfriend and I just camped here for 4 days. Weekends have a different vibe on the weekdays it's quiet. Each campground has its primitive camp charm all come with a picnic table, parking spot, a wooden pole you can hang your garbage, and a water spout near by."

Natural swimming areas: Several campsites feature swimming access during warmer months. "We had a blast there stayed at campsite 14 it has its own private pool right in front of it with cold spring water it was an awesome experience for me and my wife and we will be going back again."

Family-friendly atmosphere: Many Webster-area campgrounds prioritize community and shared experiences. "The park is very well kept and staff were wonderful. Package delivery and pickup is so easy, which we utilized a ton!! All of our neighbors were very friendly as well, this park really has a great community vibe!"

What you should know

Road conditions: Access to some campsites requires preparation, especially during wet weather. "The road in called SW 113 ST was hardcore off road muddy driving. We pay for the sites so the road in could have been a lot less treacherous. Potholes all the way to the site. Site 18 was perfectly secluded compared to the other sites which were rather close to one another."
