ScoutThe sites are simple, well separated with a very short walk, easy to take multiple trips. Going when we did we were met with swarms of mosquitoes.
Additionally it's very near the interstate so not the quietest of places.
GuidePorta potty near our original site was full and there for closed. So we picked a different site near the bathhouse.
The bathhouse was clean at night but not in the morning. No tokens needs for the shower. Several retro games plus billiards in the game room. Quarter operated.
Someone’s RV was giving off an awful stench. LOTS of puddles when it rained so maybe better drainage?
ScoutThis state park is very nice, decent trails clearly marked and the walking paths around the sites are pretty clear. Overall the noise from other sites was minimal and I liked the layout of the campground.
The bad- the sites labeled for highway noise should be closed. It was an absolutely awful experience. I was walking through all of the campground when we first got in and as we approached our site the noise was so distracting and completely ruined the peaceful experience that most state parks offer. It was a serious bummer when night construction started on the highway on Sunday night as well. Our neighbors stayed well beyond the checkout time and the camp host did nothing to get them to leave, why even be present if you’re not gunna do anything? It wouldn’t have been a big deal if they weren’t randomly shooting a bow and arrow into the trees behind their site and then proceeded to record TikTok’s with endless repetition of those songs. Not the parks fault other than the host should at least clear the sites with the new checkout times.
If you’re going to this park avoid the highway spots at all costs!
ScoutThis was a great experience rocheckery State Park as beautiful outlooks there's a lot of scenic sites goes from trees and Forest to rocks and scenic views if you like hiking and wilderness camping this is the place.
GuideHowever the one shower in women’s bathroom has a broken button so doesn’t work at all and the one has a plugged drain and there are 3 inches of sanitary water hazard at the bottom. So unusable. If desperate I say go use the men’s. What else can you do! Also book online before you get there!!!! Also book your car pass separately. I did not see any staff anywhere at any time. You are on your own. Too bad the state can’t afford a single staff to manage the place in the evening. Come on Minnesota… are you really that cheap? Us users are willing to pay you know!!! Charge us more so we can count on stuff being maintained! Otherwise the place is fricken gorgeous!!!!!
TravelerDexter Campgrounds was a delight to stay at. There was a private bathroom/shower room that made the experience feel luxurious. It is right next to a beautiful river and lake. Very quiet and campers are very respectful. I would absolutely recommend this spot. It was $36 for one night. They also have a place to do laundry. They have camp sites that accommodate electricity as well!

RangerThe campground is super easy to get to as it is adjacent to I-90 which means you’ll also deal with highway noise. The noise becomes just background after a while and the full hookups mean running the RV air conditioner at night somewhat blocks the traffic sounds. Lots to do in the area with the Wisconsin Dells less than 30 minutes away and Tomah is less than 10 minutes the other direction. The campground itself is small but very well taken care of with a mix of back-in and pull-through sites along with cabins. Staff was very friendly and helpful giving us suggestions for places to visit while we were there. Bonus: A convenience store/fuel station including truck diesel lanes is just outside the entrance to the campground for easy fill ups before you hit the road.
