Best RV Parks & Resorts near Bruce, WI

Several RV parks surround Bruce, Wisconsin, offering a range of amenities for motorhome travelers. Treeland Farm RV Resort in Hayward provides full hookup sites with 50-amp service, concrete patios, and spacious pull-through options from May 1 to October 15. Featherstone RV Park in Birchwood accommodates big rigs with 30-amp electric hookups, water, and sewer connections during their May to October season. Wolf's Den RV Campground in Cameron features full hookup sites with both water and sewer connections, operating from April 15 to October 1. Very quiet with plenty of room between sites," noted one RV camper about Treeland Farm.

Most RV campgrounds in the region require reservations during peak summer months, with limited availability for last-minute arrivals. Cell service varies significantly between parks - Verizon users report 1-2 bars at Lake Chippewa Campground but stronger signals at Brunet Island State Park. Dump stations are available at most parks, though St. Croix Casino RV Park and Thornapple River Campground specifically advertise sanitary dump facilities for guests. Pet policies are generally accommodating, with most parks allowing leashed dogs throughout the grounds. Seasonal operation is standard, with most RV parks closing between October and May due to harsh Wisconsin winters. For RV campers requiring specific amenities, Birch Lakes RV Park offers 50-amp service and sewer hookups but lacks shower facilities, while Summit Lake Campground provides water and sewer connections for extended stays.

    Lake Wissota State Park Campground

Smaller scale park but lots to do

This park is on a smaller scale and less crowded than Devil’s Lake. There is a small beach that is in the process of renovation. The sites are large surrounded by trees and very private. The sites on the lake side are not electric and some of them are huge buddy sites, great for extended families. There are two shower houses in the campground located next to sites 29 or 72. If you are on the legs furthest from the lake it is a long walk to them, but all those sites have electric. There are two vault toilet locations and a total of 116 campsites all with a picnic table and fire ring. There is a very large playing field and a playground in the Family Campground and another playground past the beach near the fishing dock. This State Park has a large number of picnic shelters and picnic grounds with picnic tables. There are about 10 hiking trails. There is a boat launch and you can rent kayaks or canoes at the visitor center. Everything was kept clean and in good repair. Cell service for both AT&T and Verizon was strong enough to stream video. If you want to take a trip to town, there are about 5 no longer than a 10 mile distance. There was a large grocery store in Chippewa Falls. Only ice and firewood are available at the park.

    Lake Chippewa Campground

    Still One of Our Favs

As we arrived on a Saturday around 1:45 PM, there was quite the line of RVs checking in as most people come in for a week on Saturdays. As we have been here multiple times, we knew not to line up down the narrow road shoot that’s adjacent to the lodge where you check in but stay on the main road. They had plenty of staff on duty, so check-in was fairly quick, and we headed to site 457, which was an easy back-in with FHUs. We were pleasantly surprised we didn’t get site 456 right on the road. When we make a reservation for this campground(CG), you can only pick an area, not a specific site, for most of the sites. This was the first time we’d stayed in this area of mixed short-term and seasonal sites. The FHU facilities were placed in the middle of the gravel-grass site with a picnic table and fire pit. We were able to put out our back patio and have plenty of space to park our F450. There are a lot of mature trees in this park, so satellite is going to be iffy depending on the site. We were able to get an okay shot to the north for Starlink but no chance for the southern sky. You can opt to pay for the park Wi-Fi. The water pressure is good, and we had two bars on Verizon. The staff at the lodge/office is top-notch. We found out that this year’s“watch out” was kids riding electric bikes full out versus underage golf cart drivers of last year, so“watch out” in either case. The CG has been trying to police the lack of parental oversight, but this first-rate CG attacks a lot of families. Though there’s no formal dog park, there are plenty of areas to walk your dog, including the trail up and around the newer primitive camping area. Lake Chip is one of our favs, and we will continue to return.

    Doolittle Park

    Excellent Campground for Families.

This campground, run by the Village of Birchwood, is family friendly with many amenities. There is a public beach, playground, picnic area, boat launch, fish cleaning house, and pavilion. The pricing for sites is reasonable also with tent sites at $10.00 per night(prices subject to change), All other campers are $30.00 night. There are also monthly($500.00+75.00 for electric} and seasonal sites available{$1800.00+ electric fee at the end of the year).

Fishing is very good on the Big Chetac Chain of Lakes approx.1700acres.

Reservations can be made through the Village of Birchwood by calling 715-354-3300.

    Moose Lake

    Low trafficked, backwoods and quiet

If you are looking for tons of activities, close to town, cell service and amenities, this isn't your camp. What it does offer is a deep backwoods experience, isolation and quiet.

Vibe: Backwoods isolation. Only a dozen or so spots. Some haven’t had campers in weeks. Only 4 occupied the night we stayed.

    Cleanliness: Average.

    Facilities: Minimal. Two vault toilets.

General spots: Big, well spaced, lots of privacy. Heavily forested trees and lots of shade.

Our site: 7. Close to beach. Has its own little trail to beach. Noise: Occasional boat on the lake. Other than that, only the sounds of nature.

Cell signal: Almost none. Unusable. Can’t send texts or make calls.

Other: Beach is small grass beach. No animals allowed. Geese can’t read and have covered it with droppings. Bugs not awful, but tough to dissuade. Some resorts around, but I wouldn’t count on getting supplies near here. Come well stocked.

    Wonderful RV resort!

Step out of your RV in the a.m. and smell the pines! Large pull through sites.Wooded, concrete patio, picnic table, fire pit. Very quiet. Large outdoor pool and all sorts of things to do! Across the road is the Resort with a great restaurant and bar. You can also use peddle boats, kayaks, canoes, etc for FREE!!. Or rent a boat or pontoon, which we did. Lake Chippewa Campground

    Lake Chip Continues to Please

Our RV GPS wanted to take us through Hayward city central to the campground (CG), which was fine. However, as this was our fourth time staying at Lake Chippewa Campground, we stayed on Hwy 77 past the Walmart to hook up on Hwy 63 at the casino to avoid traffic and stoplights in Hayward. We arrived with no issues and during check-in we were delighted to find out we had other site options than the pull throughs for our 12 night stay. We had changed our reservations to an earlier date, and the only open sites at the time were pull throughs, which are not bad. However, there are much better sites in this CG. We were provided a map of available sites and a golf cart to check out sites. As we know this CG well, it was a no brainer for us to chose back-in site 460 with FHUs. The regulars who normally stay in this site had gotten an opening in one of the CG's permanent site areas. We happily proceeded to our site and had no problems backing in. The hook ups are in the middle of this long pad. Water pressure was good at about 50 psi. We did not opt for their Wifi, which you have pay for and later found out it doesn't work in this area anyway. We got 1 bar on Verizon and the signal was basically useless. There are a lot of mature trees in this CG and in this site in particular. We put our Starlink on the roof and we were able to get a usable signal. We would rather have a nice site with privacy than wifi or a phone signal. This site sits well off the road and has a large back yard area. Lake Chip is a large private CG but has a state park feel. They have lots of amenities such site side trash pickup, laundry, boat/kayak rentals, golf cart rentals, propane, and the list goes on. Eat at Powell’s on Round Lake about 15 minutes away on Co Hwy C towards Hayward. Good food and service.

Connors Lake Campground — Flambeau River State Forest

Great Canoe and Backwoods Place– Maybe Not the Place for Families

The State Forest is very beautiful. There is a lake as well as the Flambeau River to explore. There are two campgrounds, Lake of the Pines which has 30 non-electric sites and Connor Lake which has 3 electric sites and 26 non-electric. All sites have a picnic table and a fire ring. There are no play grounds. There are only vault toilets at the campground. There is one shower at the ranger station which is about 4 miles away. There is no cell service at Connors Lake Campground. I could not even make an emergency call which was a concern for me. There are many signs that say to go to the ranger station, about 4 miles to make an emergency call. There is no weather safe shelter at the campground. There are 14 canoe camp areas and the park is beautiful. If you like to canoe this is a great park. We did a hike and cut our stay short since we like a bit more services and safety.

Guide to Bruce

Camping near Bruce, Wisconsin offers diverse options for recreational vehicle enthusiasts throughout Rusk County and surrounding areas. The region features wooded sites along rivers and lakes with varying levels of privacy and amenities. Average summer temperatures range from 55-80°F, with mosquitoes most prevalent during June and July, particularly near water features.

What to do

Water activities: At Brunet Island State Park Campground, paddlers find excellent opportunities on the Chippewa and Fisher Rivers. "There's also a great bicycle trail called the Old Abe Trail, which has its northern end at the park entrance," notes Sandy C., who recommends exploring the backwater areas by canoe or kayak.

Fishing opportunities: Sites at Brunet Island provide direct water access for anglers. "You really feels the outside world woes melt away at this island park on the Chippewa River. Large sites, many right on the water to make launching your kayak easy. Lots of slow moving inlets to paddle into and get lost in nature and fishing if you like," explains Linda T.

Wildlife viewing: Fall camping offers unique natural encounters at Thornapple River Campground. "The Thorneapple River is a sleepy, winding river. There are campsites right on the river. You can float or wade in it; it's shallow and refreshing," describes Amanda W., highlighting the tranquil environment for wildlife observation.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Bathrooms receive consistently positive feedback in area campgrounds. "The bathrooms are amazingly clean and for some reason the whole place was mosquito free!" reports Rachel T. about Brunet Island, while other campers note well-maintained facilities throughout RV parks near Bruce.

Waterfront sites: Wolf's Den RV Campground features lake access that draws regular campers. "Beautiful lake right by, would definitely be a huge draw," mentions Judy B., though she notes the campground "is more like a summer community" with many permanent setups.

Spacious layouts: Country Quiet RV Park offers ample room between sites. "This is a very nice RV Park. There's plenty of sites and they appear to be expanding. Sites are fairly spread out. Easy loop system makes this campground very easy to navigate through," explains Judy B.

What you should know

Seasonal operation: Most campgrounds in the Bruce area close during winter. St. Croix Casino RV Park operates from May 1 to October 31, while Summit Lake Campground provides water and sewer connections for extended summer stays.

Site privacy varies: Campgrounds offer different levels of seclusion. "Site was nice. We didn't have anyone next to us (site 46), if we had, it would have felt less private. Not many trees between sites 44-48," reports Julie W. about Brunet Island State Park.

Swimming conditions: Beach quality differs between locations. "The only done side was that the 'beach' is not real swimmer friendly. No sand at all, lots of rocks. The boat launch was actually better to swim at," advises Rachel T. about Brunet Island.

Tips for camping with families

Playgrounds and activities: Several campgrounds feature family-friendly facilities. "There is a RV focused and a tent focused camping loops. This is a nice location for fisherman and kayaks/canoes. There are a few hiking trails that are loaded with mosquitoes. There is a small beach to play in the water, playground and ball field," reports Tiffany K. about Brunet Island.

Wildlife education: Fall visits offer teaching moments. "What a great place to visit this time of year (Fall). Falling acorns, frogs and chipmunks chirping, turtles basking in sunlight and more. The owls at night were a treat (sometimes even scary) to listen to," shares Gerald B.

Store proximity: Thornapple River Campground provides convenient access to supplies. "Stores are about 7 minutes away," mentions Amanda W., making it easier to restock necessities when camping with children.

Tips from RVers

Site selection: At Brunet Island, campers recommend specific loops based on preferences. "Two campgrounds, the north campground is more primitive, the south campground, where we stayed, has electrical hookups," explains Peggy W.

Seasonal amenities: Treeland Farm RV Resort offers comprehensive facilities during warmer months. "Step out of your RV in the a.m. and smell the pines! Large pull through sites. Wooded, concrete patio, picnic table, fire pit. Very quiet. Large outdoor pool and all sorts of things to do! Across the road is the Resort with a great restaurant and bar. You can also use peddle boats, kayaks, canoes, etc for FREE!" shares Kim L.

Campground atmosphere: Different RV parks near Bruce cater to various preferences. "It's definitely not the most private campground, so it your looking for rustic quiet I would look into some of the smaller county campgrounds," advises Judy B. about Country Quiet RV Park.
