Best Campgrounds near Lindon, UT

Camping options around Lindon, Utah range from developed campgrounds to dispersed sites within the Wasatch Mountains and near Utah Lake. Granite Flat Campground, located approximately 15 miles east in Provo Canyon, provides tent and RV camping with access to mountain terrain and forest environments. Nunns Park offers riverside sites along the Provo River with tent and RV accommodation options. Squaw Peak Road Dispersed camping areas provide free, primitive camping options for those seeking a more rustic experience without facilities.

Access to most campgrounds follows seasonal patterns with many sites closing from mid-October through April or May. Nunns Park requires northbound highway access only, as noted in visitor reviews. "Nice location, along river but highway close. Be aware that can only access the park entrance from northbound lanes," one camper reported. Most developed campgrounds offer water and restroom facilities during the operating season, while dispersed areas like Miner's Canyon require self-sufficiency with no amenities. Reservations are highly recommended for established campgrounds, particularly on summer weekends, while dispersed camping operates on a first-come basis with variable stay limits depending on land management regulations.

The Provo River runs adjacent to several camping areas, creating a natural sound barrier from nearby highway noise at certain sites. Utah Lake State Park Campground and Lakeside RV Campground provide lake access with full hookups for RVs year-round. Many campers mention the river as a key feature at Nunns Park. "Great campground close to town and right off the Provo River trail (a beautiful paved bike path that goes into town or up past Bridal Veil falls). Right by the river, not tons of privacy though," noted one visitor. Highway noise is frequently mentioned as a drawback at some locations. Campgrounds at higher elevations like Little Mill and Timpooneke offer cooler temperatures during summer months but have shorter operating seasons, generally from late spring to early fall.

    Miner's Canyon Dispersed

Nice area for big rigs (we have a 36' motorhome), but crowded

We generally like this area, because it's one of the few spots in northern Utah that can accommodate our 36' motorhome. The downsides are that the roads are really rutted, so take it very slow and make sure that your rig can make it into a spot and, most importantly, OUT of the spot. As mentioned in other reviews, there's broken glass and ammunition scattered over all of the campsites, but they're big, and every site has a view of the beautiful lake and surrounding mountains. It gets down into the low 30s at night during the spring, so be sure to be prepared for cold nights. It's late May when I'm writing this, and it's JUST NOW getting out of the 30s at night and into the 40s. Daytime temps are pretty mild during the spring, at 65-80 degrees every day. I recommend this spot if you don't mind being in what's basically a free RV park (with much better spacing - most spots are at least 20-30 feet apart), because it gets so busy here. Also, a Provo Sheriff's deputy knocked on everyone's door on our second day there to ask how long they'd/we'd been there, and then, after 12 days, we moved to another nearby spot up the road, and on our second day here, he knocked on our door again to ask questions about our stay. We're rule-followers, and he was very professional and nice, but if you don't like getting "the knock," this may not be the place for you, as he seems to go through the sites regularly. All in all, I'd recommend this place, as it's mostly peaceful, even being as busy as it is.

    Sheep Creek

    Perfect Place To Stop

Stayed 5/22/26 We are headed back home to Texas and have been on a 2 week road trip through California. Stopped here for the night in our Sprinter van. There were about 4/5 other vehicles/campers. Plenty of room to spread out, easy access off the the Hwy and to get in and park. But didn’t feel like we’re near a Hwy. Not good cell service for Verizon but I was ok with that. Very clean and had a fire pit if wanted to have a fire. Beautiful view of the mountains. Would recommend at least a good spot to stop for the night. Felt very safe.

    Spanish Fork River Park

Loved the place, but something buged me about the place.

Beautiful place. They had a Boxelder bug problem. We had hundreds of them in and on our rv. We bought a vacuum to take care of that next time. They were going to spray.

    Skyline Road Creek

    Convinient and Quite

There are a few spot where you can drop off Skyline Rd and camp near a little stream. This one has the best combination of closeness to the highway, but having no street noise. There was a lot of tweaker trash, but I filled a few garbage bags and have it looking good again. It’s perfect for a van or very small RV, but I wouldn’t bring anything bigger down the side road.

    Cottonwood Campground

    Great Spot

This is a great campground if you’re looking for somewhere simple to stay for a weekend. You’re not able to make reservations but it doesn’t seem very popular so you’re most likely to find a spot if you go early enough. It costs $10 if you stay for 3 days, but it allows you to use the America the Beautiful pass if you have it. There’s a 4 mile hike if you keep following the road down if you’re looking for something else to do.

Guide to Lindon

Campgrounds near Lindon, Utah range from developed facilities to dispersed sites across the Wasatch Front mountains and Utah Lake areas. Granite Flat Campground in Provo Canyon accommodates tent, RV, and glamping setups with amenities like drinking water and reservable sites. Dispersed options include Squaw Peak Road Dispersed Camping and Miner's Canyon, offering primitive sites without facilities for those seeking a more rustic experience. Utah Lake State Park provides waterfront camping with full hookups for RVs, while family-oriented sites at Nunns Park feature picnic tables, fire rings, and access to the Provo River.

Most campgrounds in the region follow seasonal operations, with many mountain facilities closing between October and May due to snow and cold temperatures. Reservations are strongly recommended during summer months when local sites fill quickly. "The sites are very close together with lots of foot, bike, and skateboarding traffic passing nearby. I was lucky to get a site near the river which drowned out the noise," noted one camper about Nunns Park. Road access varies significantly, with higher elevation sites requiring good clearance vehicles while valley campgrounds remain accessible by standard passenger cars. Campfires are permitted at most developed campgrounds but may be restricted during dry periods and high fire danger.

Waterfront camping represents a significant draw in this region, with multiple campgrounds situated along the Provo River or near Utah Lake. Several visitors mentioned the sound of the river as a highlight at Nunns Park, describing it as "beautiful yet subtle white noise." Highway noise can be a factor at campgrounds in Provo Canyon, with some reviewers recommending sites farther from the road. Fishing opportunities, hiking trails, and mountain biking access are frequently cited as valuable amenities near camping areas. The proximity to urban conveniences while maintaining a natural setting makes these mixed-use campgrounds particularly appealing to families and weekend campers looking for short getaways without extensive travel.
