    Berry Springs Park & Preserve

    Hidden gem near Austin

Nice park and campground very near Georgetown, Texas. Berry Springs is a local county park and preserve. The Park is located just north of Georgetown Texas about 1 mile off Interstate 35 the main highway between Dallas and Austin. It’s a Great location with loads of open space. They have basic sites with covered picnic tables, fire rings, and hooks for hanging items. The former ranch has a lot of history dating back to the Texas Pioneer days. The park is located next to clear spring fed river for swimming and fishing. This may be a great option for those looking for a location close to Austin or a local family weekend. The camp was nearly empty in October this year which is the peak season for camping in Texas. The sites are best suited for tent camper, vans, and smaller trailers.

    Retreat at 971 RV Park

    Great RV Park!

Great RV Park with plenty of parking spots and plenty of room in between campers. It’s gravel with grass lawns that they keep up very well and concrete patios for camper steps. It has satellite and WiFi for each camp spot. The office is really nice it has a store, laundry mat, bathrooms and showers. There is a dog park, swimming pool, horseshoe pits and playground for the kids. And the whole park is fenced in and gated at the entrance. Just check out their website for pics!

    Belton RV Park

    Just off the highway...

It’s a place to rest your head and wash your clothes. The pool and dog park are excellent additions and I really enjoyed that!

San Gabriel River RV Camp Resort

    Very nice

I stayed there for 3 months in my 24 foot motorhome. They usually have a waiting list. Very nice park with mostly permanent residents. Lots of trees. River access. Bathrooms with showers, laundry room, fenced dog park, common areas with rec room, huge grassy area.

    Riverview Campground

    Riverview Campground

Located only 7 miles from Downtown Waco and Magnolia Silos District, Riverview Campground provides all the amenities necessary to camp in any type of RV or travel trailer. There are lots of trees or shade to stay cool in the warmer months and a pool available as well.

There’s a pet area, but it didn’t provide doggie bags, so make sure you bring your own. We felt safe and enjoyed the accessibility to the nearby river. The bathrooms are private but aren’t as clean as we would have liked. Overall we enjoyed our stay because of the close proximity to Magnolia and the surrounding areas.

    Redbud Ranch RV Resort

    City Close, Country Feel

A little pricey and the prices are subject to change depending on capacity(don't really care for that). Some reviews dock them for the train noises, but we weren't bothered by it at all, especially with AC running.

    📋 Site#305:

🔙 Back In🅿 Site Pad: level, concrete, long enough, but a little narrow. Parking spot for tow vehicle next to it💧 Water- good pressure, high enough for filter and everything to hang down⚡ Max amp: 50- had a couple issues with Over Current at first, but it seemed to stay on after that. The Power Watch Dog tripped the power and did its thing.💩 Sewer connection was in good shape. It was a little closer to the front of the site, so I used 2 hoses📶 Wifi- available but I didn’t use it📺I picked up multiple channels just with the antenna. Even GRIT. I escaped the heat in the hottest part of the day.🔥 Fire Ring w/Grate Standing Grill Picnic Table: hexagon shaped. Looked like wood, but was the plastic composite material. Heavy. Two of the overflow parking spaces were on the side of the site, so it was handy. This site is on a corner, so it was a little bigger. There’s a little tree planted there that will give shade in a few years

    👎🏻 Cons:

The site was a little narrow and there’s no widening at the entrance on the back-in sites. You have to bring your good backing skills.

    📝 Park Notes:

🚻 Restrooms- very clean and spacious. There are a couple ADA restrooms with showers that can be accessed by wheel chair and multiple household sized showers. Each one is male/female so it would be good for families with children.🚿 Showers had good pressure and multi-function shower heads. Glass doors. Very clean.🧺 Laundry facility had 6 sets of washer/dryers. Credit card or app. No cash.🐕 Off-leash dog park was big and had a separate section for smaller dogs. There was a nice dog wash station near the restrooms. No washing of dogs or rigs at the individual sites.🛒 There was a small store in the main office with souvenir items, a few RV necessities and ice cream.🚶🏻‍♀️ A trail runs along the length of the park along the creek. No getting in the creek though.🏚 Cabins with and without lofts. All have screened in back porches🤿 Pool with shallow end and lounge chairs in the water. A hot tub that will hold about 30 people. You can literally swim across it. Small splash pad area for the kids.Covered pavilion area with large BBQ pits.🔥 Large fire pit with chairs around it🤾‍♀️ Playground equipment, 2 volleyball courts, horseshoes, tether ball, hammocks, tables, porch swing(hanging from a tree), ping pong table🪑 2 group areas, 1 was large and had a view of the pool. Residents can use it at anytime unless someone has reserved it for a private event. They have coffee and condiments there from 8-10am. They had Donuts for Dad for Father’s Day(but open for anyone).🍩☕🦌 Wildlife: Various birds, squirrels🗑 Trash pick up at the sites in the morning Some buddy sites available on the ends of the rows Golf carts are available for rent or you can bring your own Restrooms/Showers/Dog Wash/Dog park are on one end of the park and the Pool/Volleyball/Playground are on the other end by the Office/Store/Event rooms. A golf cart or bike would be handy.🌳 No shade trees on the RV park yet, but young ones are planted💲 Prices fluctuate depending on the demand for spaces📅 There are events in the park on weekends👩🏻‍💼 Staff was very friendly and helpful. Always smiling.

Everything you need is very close. Walmart, Home Depot, Salt Lick BBQ, Dell Diamond, Kalahari Resorts(Indoor water park), restaurants, dancehalls…it’s almost in the City, but doesn’t feel like it. We have had some fun Munzee events in Hutto, so there’s lots around if you enjoy scavenger hunts on your phone.

    Falls on the Brazos Park

    River Water

Be sure to test the water before entering. It's seems harmess and may very well be harmless but it will make you and your pets stinky. Easy access to low current knee high water below the damage and easy and fun to walk/ wade around in but again, will lightly stain your clothes and have you smelling like sulfur beans. Has great potential and is usually quiet. View of river is ideal at dusk. Needs a bit of work.

    Tranquil Gardens RV Park

    Very peaceful park

This small little park has been very peaceful so far. The people are wonderful and it’s very pet friendly. Amenities are lacking and the price is high but over all if you need to stay in the area we recommend it

    Gather Campground

Nice facilities - you get what you pay for

Normally we try to stay at a full service campground after several nights of boondocking. This was where we chose to stay on our way to South TX to fully charge batteries (no sun for several days) and use showers. We booked the site online (very easy). Campground staff provided very good communication with arrival Instructions, so we went straight to the site. Campground is paved, sites are spacious and level, and shower/bathroom facilities are some of the nicest we’ve seen. We didn’t use the pool but would’ve had we stayed longer. The sites are much closer together than we prefer, however most of the campers were in RVs or large 5th Wheels so that’s what this site caters to It seems. We did hear traffic noise from I35 however, but I don’t think many people here spend much time out of their campers this time of year so that wouldn’t be an issue. We don’t have pets, but there are pet areas around the campground that the guests used frequently.

Guide to Cameron

Wilson H Fox campground sits on the shores of Granger Lake about 30 minutes from Cameron, Texas. The area features moderately hilly terrain with elevations ranging between 400-600 feet. Most campsites offer partial shade from native oak trees, with summer temperatures regularly exceeding 95°F between June and September.

What to do

Fishing for crappie: At Wilson H Fox, fishing opportunities abound, especially for specific species. "You you wonder what this lake is best for fishing it's crappie," notes Douglas D. The lake maintains stable water levels most of the year except during drought conditions.

Swimming in designated areas: Cooling off is essential during hot Texas months. Taylor offers "a nice little beach area. You can paddle the lake to the river and paddle up it to the highway. Watch out for wallowing feral hogs," advises Emily M. Swimming beaches typically have no lifeguards on duty.

Wildlife observation: Many campgrounds in the area support diverse wildlife viewing opportunities. "We come here every year. Quite, calm. Fishing, swimming, animal watching it has it all," reports Elizabeth M. about Wilson H Fox. Early morning and evening hours provide best wildlife viewing conditions.

What campers like

Shaded camping areas: Finding relief from the Texas sun ranks high on campers' priority lists. At Cedar Ridge, "Very family friendly park. We road bicycles, played on the playground. Hiked around and fished," says Cathy C. Most tree-covered sites fill quickly during summer months.

Spacious site layouts: Campers appreciate the ample room between sites. "Spots are spacious, some large. We stayed in site 24. Next closest neighbor was 75 feet or better away," notes Roscoe's R. at Wilson H Fox. Corner sites typically offer the most privacy and space.

Clean facilities: Many campsites maintain proper sanitation standards. At Live Oak Ridge, "The campgrounds are very clean and quiet. Everyone has been so friendly. Bathrooms are spacious and well kept," reports Olivia. Most campgrounds clean restrooms daily during peak season.

What you should know

Variable bathroom conditions: Restroom quality can differ between campgrounds and seasons. "Bathrooms seem iffy. One had intermittent water issues, not flushing. Automatic timed lights can be a pain. Especially if natural light is limited," reports Joseph C. about Wilson H Fox.

Access to water varies by site: Not all waterfront sites provide easy shoreline access. "Our experience at this park was good. It was very hot but there was a covered picnic area which helped a lot. It was difficult to get to the water from our site but doable if you did not mind a little workout," shares Bobby A.

Wildlife encounters: Paradise Acres and surrounding campgrounds host various wildlife. "Very quite and loved looking up at the stars!" notes Chris K. Deer, rabbits, wild hogs, and numerous bird species inhabit the region year-round.

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Several campgrounds feature play areas for children. "It is a very well kept campground... There is a playground, restrooms, and showers. There is also a boat dock," explains Nomadic L. about Live Oak Ridge. Most playgrounds lack shade structures.

Kid-friendly swimming: Safe swimming areas remain a priority for families. "Nice park to picnic and bird watch. Lots of birds! Swim area, fishing, hiking," reports Cathy C. about Taylor Park. Water quality monitoring occurs weekly during summer months.

Covered picnic facilities: Downtown Texas RV Park and other locations offer protection from elements. "The park is pretty nice with full hookup sites down on the bank of the San Gabriel river. The river isn't much but it's a place to escape the Texas heat," explains Mark S. Covered tables accommodate 6-8 people comfortably.

Tips from RVers

Hookup limitations: Most campgrounds offer partial hookups only. "Only 30 amp electrical hookups, does have water, and no sewer connection. Great playground for kids. Covered picnic tables. We used our access card and only had to pay $13 per night," notes Mary S. about Taylor Park.

Dump station access: Plan accordingly for waste management. "50 amp service and water, no sewer at site. Dump station is easily accessible. Camp host was very friendly," shares Roscoe's R. Most dump stations remain open from 8am to sunset daily.

Site selection strategy: Friendship Park and similar areas require planning. "This is a great place to bring the children for a picnic and a swim at the swimming beach. There are abundance of deer and rabbits, bird watching is fantastic," advises Arvis C. Reserve lakeside sites 2-3 months in advance during summer.
