    Redbud Ranch RV Resort

    City Close, Country Feel

A little pricey and the prices are subject to change depending on capacity(don't really care for that). Some reviews dock them for the train noises, but we weren't bothered by it at all, especially with AC running.

    📋 Site#305:

🔙 Back In🅿 Site Pad: level, concrete, long enough, but a little narrow. Parking spot for tow vehicle next to it💧 Water- good pressure, high enough for filter and everything to hang down⚡ Max amp: 50- had a couple issues with Over Current at first, but it seemed to stay on after that. The Power Watch Dog tripped the power and did its thing.💩 Sewer connection was in good shape. It was a little closer to the front of the site, so I used 2 hoses📶 Wifi- available but I didn’t use it📺I picked up multiple channels just with the antenna. Even GRIT. I escaped the heat in the hottest part of the day.🔥 Fire Ring w/Grate Standing Grill Picnic Table: hexagon shaped. Looked like wood, but was the plastic composite material. Heavy. Two of the overflow parking spaces were on the side of the site, so it was handy. This site is on a corner, so it was a little bigger. There’s a little tree planted there that will give shade in a few years

    👎🏻 Cons:

The site was a little narrow and there’s no widening at the entrance on the back-in sites. You have to bring your good backing skills.

    📝 Park Notes:

🚻 Restrooms- very clean and spacious. There are a couple ADA restrooms with showers that can be accessed by wheel chair and multiple household sized showers. Each one is male/female so it would be good for families with children.🚿 Showers had good pressure and multi-function shower heads. Glass doors. Very clean.🧺 Laundry facility had 6 sets of washer/dryers. Credit card or app. No cash.🐕 Off-leash dog park was big and had a separate section for smaller dogs. There was a nice dog wash station near the restrooms. No washing of dogs or rigs at the individual sites.🛒 There was a small store in the main office with souvenir items, a few RV necessities and ice cream.🚶🏻‍♀️ A trail runs along the length of the park along the creek. No getting in the creek though.🏚 Cabins with and without lofts. All have screened in back porches🤿 Pool with shallow end and lounge chairs in the water. A hot tub that will hold about 30 people. You can literally swim across it. Small splash pad area for the kids.Covered pavilion area with large BBQ pits.🔥 Large fire pit with chairs around it🤾‍♀️ Playground equipment, 2 volleyball courts, horseshoes, tether ball, hammocks, tables, porch swing(hanging from a tree), ping pong table🪑 2 group areas, 1 was large and had a view of the pool. Residents can use it at anytime unless someone has reserved it for a private event. They have coffee and condiments there from 8-10am. They had Donuts for Dad for Father’s Day(but open for anyone).🍩☕🦌 Wildlife: Various birds, squirrels🗑 Trash pick up at the sites in the morning Some buddy sites available on the ends of the rows Golf carts are available for rent or you can bring your own Restrooms/Showers/Dog Wash/Dog park are on one end of the park and the Pool/Volleyball/Playground are on the other end by the Office/Store/Event rooms. A golf cart or bike would be handy.🌳 No shade trees on the RV park yet, but young ones are planted💲 Prices fluctuate depending on the demand for spaces📅 There are events in the park on weekends👩🏻‍💼 Staff was very friendly and helpful. Always smiling.

Everything you need is very close. Walmart, Home Depot, Salt Lick BBQ, Dell Diamond, Kalahari Resorts(Indoor water park), restaurants, dancehalls…it’s almost in the City, but doesn’t feel like it. We have had some fun Munzee events in Hutto, so there’s lots around if you enjoy scavenger hunts on your phone.

Lake Somerville State Park Nails Creek Unit Campground

    Great Fall Camping, Equestrian Area

A nice, quiet fall camping weekend on Lake Somerville. It was a solo trip and since the weather was warm, I brought my kayak on this trip.

Check In: 2p Check Out: 12p

    ⛺ Site#26- Back-In

    💲20 per night+$4/person/day Parks Pass Discount saved$18.00

    • Water
    • 20/30 amp
    • Fire Ring with grate
    • Picnic Table: wood with metal legs, concrete base
    • Site Pad: Asphalt, level, long enough for my camper and truck with room to spare
    • Corrals for horses

    👍🏻 Pros:

    • Extra parking places across the street
    • Can see the lake from this spot

    👎🏻 Cons:

    • There's not a direct trail to the lake shore other than animal trails through some of the tall grass
    • The table and fire ring are on the non-camping side so it was a little strange. Very dark at night on that side.

    📝 Park Notes:

    • Dump Station
    • Restrooms/ Showers- clean. The Bent Tree area has a portable trailer for the restrooms and showers. The main building is closed.
    • There are Munzees and Geocaches here
    • Lots of trails in the park and between this and the Birch Creek Unit
    • Great trails for equestrians
    • Enclosed Group shelter for events (no kitchen)
    • Family Fishing Pond (small)
    • The open style pavilion doesn't appear to be open. Looks like it's is structurally unsound

    🐦 Wildlife:

    • Birds: Great Blue Heron, Cardinals, Chickadees
    • Deer
    • Squirrels

    💜 Highlights of this trip:

•🔥 Campfires and breakfast over the fire

•🐕 My brother came for a short visit to walk the dog

•🛶 Kayaking and there was only ONE other boat on the lake

    •🍂 Nice fall colors

•🚫 Some of the trails and areas of the park were closed this weekend due to public hunts

•🌟 Warm temperatures and clear nights. Lots of stars.

•💚 Found a couple geocaches and put out a few Munzees

    Jim Hogg - Lake Georgetown

    Spring Break for the win!

We have camped at this park for several years during a Spring Break and other than the trash bins filling fast, have never had a problem!

We have stayed at shelter sites and regular sites and all have been nice, clean and well maintained. The bathrooms are always clean and have hot water.

its on lake Georgetown, but to get in the water, you’ll need to go to Russel Park, but it is beach-like access. There are a few picnic tables over there as well.

    Jim Hogg - Lake Georgetown

    Simple and Easy

Me and the wife went on 06/18/2019. Right near a nice clear lake (no sand, you can swim but bring swimming shoes, sharp rocks). This seems to be primarily an RV site, it comes with an overhead canopy that provided a lot of shade, under the canopy was a wooden park bench, a sort of breakfast bar type thing attached to the canopy. Few feet away was a BBQ pit, a fire pit, a driveway for 1 single vehicle, a pipe for water, and an electrical box that had your regular RV connections as well as your regular household plug in. If you're getting a spot near the lake, be prepared for other guests with kayaks to walk through your camp to get to it. Bathrooms are provided, zero ventilation so it gets hot/cold with the weather. Showers are provided as well. The bathrooms were dirty as expected just accommodate for that. If you're walking through the camp at night bring a flashlight it's very dark. Minimal bugs during the day but once nightfall came there were TONS of junebugs. We car camped here and it was amazing.

Well maintained and quiet place to camp

We had a quaint campsite with a Lakeview.

Each campsite appeared to be level and clean. The sites were spaced out so that you’re not camping on top of one another. Each space had a picnic table and grill. There was a fishing pier, boat ramp, and beach to swim at. Many of the camping spots can be reserved online, but the park maintains some camping spots for first-come.

    Redbud Ranch RV Resort

    Our first RV park

We purchased our 2022 R-Pod from a local dealer and looked for the closest, highest rated RV park. Redbud Ranch RV Park was what came up. Robin, who I don’t know if she is the owner or not, is professional, caring and treats the guests with utmost respect, patience and was very knowledgeable. I used the ladies restroom to shower and it was very nice and clean. Park guests followed all rules of quiet hours and driving rules. Free coffee in the morning as very much appreciated. Sanitation and Covid 19 protocols followed. If we travel back this way in the future, we’re definitely staying.
Beautiful green grass, level concrete pads, drive areas properly drained. Trees are planted and taken care of. I bet it’s really nice in the summer. It is by a railroad track, but to us, it was no big deal. Our site was a pull through. It made it extremely easy for my husband and I who had no idea what we were doing.

    Russell Park

Russell Park + Trees + Trail + Lake

This is a review of the established campsites at Russell Park along the San Gabriel River Trail. Reservations for campsites can be made through (877) 444-6777 or www.recreation.gov.

These are drive up campsites where you may park your car next to your assigned site. The campsites have a sun awning, picnic table, campfire pit/grill. Russell Park has 27 tent-only sites with no utilities. Check-in time for reservations is 3 pm and check-out time is 2pm. There is a designated swimming area within the campground.

One of the advantages of this park is that it sits along the San Gabriel River Trail. The trail circles Lake Georgetown and is 26.2 miles. It passes through forests, grasslands, over some small hills and across a few tributaries. I'd say that 40% of the trail has some tree coverage, but 60% is exposed. In the summer be aware that the combination of the temperature and the exposure makes this trail uncomfortable to hike. Take precautions, drink lots of water and stay in the shade all that you can. While you are walking within site of Lake Georgetown, it is not always convenient to access the water. So carry plenty of water.

The trail is getting more and more popular with backpackers, so it is likely that you may see others on the trail. On weekends you may encounter scout troops practicing. During the weekdays you may not see a single person. Dogs are allowed on the trail, but it is nice to keep them on lease.

    Jim Hogg - Lake Georgetown

Jim Hogg Park + Lakeside Views

I would actually award this park 3.5 stars. Jim Hogg Park is located on the north side of Lake Georgetown. The park and its facilities are a bit dated, but if you're looking for a quick and convenient getaway for a few days it is worth checking out.

There are campsites that fit most RVs and campsites for tents. Almost all of the campsites are within easy walking distance to the lake. The park gets consistent visitors through the spring, summer and fall. There are fewer visitors in the winter. There are a huge number of campsites and I've never had a problem finding a spot, however during the peek seasons it is recommended to reserve a site in advance. It seems that many of the visitors to the park are day trippers.

Each campsite has a shelter, picnic table, grill and campfire pit. There are a couple of restrooms spread around the park, but I would say that one might have to walk a while to reach one. Many of the campsites have one or two trees, but many sites have no shade other than the shelter. There are trees and forest surrounding the campground.

One thing that makes this campground an easy place to camp is that it is only about 40 minutes from the city of Austin and 10 minutes from the city of Georgetown. Along the road that leads into the park there is a Randalls Grocery store where one can find groceries and supplies.

There is a nice 26 mile hiking trail called the Goodwater Trail that circles around the lake. There are also ample opportunities to fish in the lake either from shore, along boat docks or from a boat.

If you do find yourself with a campsite along the lakefront, be warned that during the summer you will likely hear ski boats cruising around the lake.

    Good Lakeside Sites

You can find sites here that overlook the water, and have some paths down to the shore (some paths are sketchy though). Fire pit with a grill you can lay over or pull off. Charcoal grill. Covered areas for each site, and they are a good place to set up, and there are lots of hooks and nails to hang stuff up.

Bathrooms seem iffy. One had intermittent water issues, not flushing. Automatic timed lights can be a pain. Especially if natural light is limited.
