Best Dog-Friendly Camping near Silver Point, TN

This place is great! There is a lake with all sorts of water craft to rent. There is a high water park as part of the complex (separate fee). All sites have full hookups including cable. All roads are paved. All sites are level. There is even a dog park so your 4 legged family members can run free too.

This campground was very convenient for those visiting the Nashville area, its just off the highway and they offer shuttles for a fee to downtown and opryland. The check in process was quick and simple, the staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. Our campsite was easy to find and very clean. The shower house was one of the best I've seen mostly because it is air conditioned. The showers are all very private and clean with plenty of room. The waterpark is just steps away, I would suggest not eating food within the park it is over priced and not very tasty, go to the marina restaurant or eat at your campsite. They have a dog park to exercise your dogs and you can't beat the views. I would recommend this campground.

We were in primitive site I and it was a perfect spot to camp on a hot day. The sun never touched our tent. They offer kayak rentals and they are good sturdy ones at a reasonable rate. There is no swimming but we enjoyed fishing. They have A honey locus tree on one of the trails which was cool. I had never seen one. They are pet friendly and pets are allowed leashes on all the hiking trails. The animals are not scared of humans or dogs. We had squirrels, birds, deer and turkey join us at our camp site.

Was the best state park I’ve stayed at to date! Very safe, quiet/peaceful, family friendly, pet friendly, bath houses were clean, full hookups, pool was clean ($6/person entry fee)

This was our first time at Mountain Glen and we will return! If you are looking for a quiet, clean and beautiful campground, this is the place. Full hook ups, very pet friendly, friendly staff. Giving it ALL the stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Mountain Glen is a hidden gem! If you are traveling through eastern TN or just looking for a place to park your RV for a few weeks or longer of peaceful quiet then you have to stay here. I've stayed in RV parks across 38 states and never found cleaner bathrooms, friendlier customer service, or faster WiFi (and that's important since I work remotely!) than what Mountain Glen RV Park offers. They've also got great water pressure, easy pull-throughs, after-hour check-in options, and a convenient store in case you forgot some essentials. In addition to the great amenities, you'll be greeted by rolling scenic vistas of beautiful countryside, having fishing opportunities, pavilion or indoor meeting room to hang out with friends, playground for the kids, and pet friendly areas for your dogs to enjoy.

Mountain Glen is definitely a must-stay and the best of the best of all the RV parks and campgrounds I've ever stayed at!

Campground review:Edgar Evins State Park is easy to find right outside Silver Point, Tn. About 10 minutes from I40. An hour west to Nashville and you are in the big city again.

My first time to Edgar and I LIKE IT! I will be back. It was easy to find everything due to the frequent signs pointing the way.

The campground is unique and in some cases, if your pulling/parking an RV , Challenging! First campground I've ever been to that you park on a deck.

The sites are tiered and you will get a workout if your walking from one level to the next, which if you need the showerhouse , you will be on certain tiers. :)

A very clean. Well kept showerhouse and there is a laundry near the primitive parking area.

Only thing that I didn't care for was the need for the fire pit to be off your footprint( obvious why) and the lakeside sites surprisingly did not have east access to the lake. ( okay two things)

The 6 marked trails were easy to find and moderate/strenuous. Plenty of water for your hobby needs and two boat ramps and a marina.

Product Review:

As a Dyrt Ranger I've had the opportunity to test products while enjoying various parks. Today I tested/tried BOOST OXYGEN.

Now, being me I have to say getting a box of canned air made me chuckle. I get the concept of Boost Oxygen and have read the data. I am an athlete of sorts because I trail run. However I fall far short of the elite athletes you see on television sucking down oxygen on the sidelines of professional sports.

That being said I was surprised by the results after puffing up one of the extended hills here at the park. (Perfect place for a test) there was no, slow down at the top to catch my breath and then pick back up after I could breath again. I took a few long slow breaths from the Boost Oxygen and trucked right on.

Now, if your outta shape this isn't the end all be all, lol. But I can see where it would be useful on the trail. I'm carrying it along on my next trail race to see how portable it is, the weight is not a problem, but I have the full size bottle. Boost Oxygen comes in a smaller size, I didn't think to get one. I am going to continue to test it as the weather gets hotter to see how much it helps in humidity.

One con for me is I wish the cans were refillable, maybe something for the future. At least recycle them to cut down on waste.

Otherwise, if you are in need of a "boost" on the trail or as you compete in whatever sport Boost Oxygen would be a definite option to help optimize your performance.

I almost hate to leave such a review because I’m afraid I’ll never get into it again. Obviously we will return.

Pros:

• Usable internet - very important to us because husband works from the road
• CLEAN, well kept
• bathrooms so well done with showers individual rooms
• laundry room nice and reasonably priced
• game room and playground for kids of all ages
• nice pond with small creek
• pet friendly
• full hookups and reasonable prices
• nice, quaint store on site
• FRIENDLY staff

Cons

• sites are closer together than we prefer, but everything else makes up for that
• closest town 30 minutes down the mountain, however the Mennonite stores would have some things you might need only 15 minutes away.

This property is clean, quiet, family and pet friendly. Each tent and RV stall has its own picnic table and fire pit, spacing out each stall so it has fair privacy. If you don't care to grill or have a sandwich or ice cream at the general store on site the friendly owner will tell you where to eat in town (Cookeville). The entrance to the state park is across the street from the general store. All of the facilities you need are here, but I do have one critique, that is the smart light in the Women's restroom turns off after 20 seconds, I think it would be better to set it to 5 minutes. Otherwise it was a perfect stay.

Fall Creek Falls State Park is absolutely stunning! We were in Campground B and our site was gorgeous - it was a slight incline, but nothing a couple blocks under the tires couldn't easily fix. Our site was surrounded by trees and felt very private. We enjoyed a hike from our campsite to the top and bottom of Fall Creek Falls, it was not an easy hike down (nor back up) but it was totally worth it. Very pet friendly - our golden retriever enjoyed making many new friends at the campsite and on our hike. The scenic loop was awesome, especially enjoyed the short hike to Piney Creek Falls overlook and the suspension bridge. It was so nice having a general store on site to run in quick and grab the things I forgot at home. We cannot wait to visit this park again and explore the areas around it.

We just stayed over night. Our site was very un-level and could not get the camper to auto level. We put our surge protector on and the power at the site kept shorting out. We managed to get slides out then it shorted out. Turned breakers back on to turn on a/c and it blew again. The campground is down a very long road then once you register it’s another long drive back to the sites, which is nothing but trees. Sites are roomy. Gravel roads. It has a beautiful lake with benches to sit on and a nice walk way. It was just too hot to enjoy it. It’s a beautiful campground but the rules are just too much. Not that we would do any of these things without being told not too, but the speed limit is 10. 1 warning and your kicked out. There’s a big paragraph just on what your pets can’t do. Its 2 pages of rules. I realize they need to have rules but to write them all down with threats of a fine is just excessive.

We visited here during the summer. I really enjoyed our stay. A couple of things caught a us by surprise.. 1) The steps down to our campsite. Some of the campsites towards the back of the campground have a good amount of stairs. It was okay, but not good for anyone who cannot handle a lot of stairs. 2) There was a lot of boat traffic on the lake, even late into the night. I’m not sure if it is always like this or because there is a marina near by the campground. We could reach the edge of the lake from our campsite and launched out kayaks from there. The boats made it a little difficult to kayak the lake, but some kayakers towards the front of the campground at the day beach seemed to do okay. There’s a small hiking trail in the park also called the “lost spring trail” not much of a spring to see, but a couple of lookout points. Must not be much traffic through the trail anymore, the lookouts were a little overgrown. Overall the campground was nice, lots of access to the water if you like to fish and some very beautiful views. Pet friendly! Clean!

I'm from New England and relocated to Tennessee in 2016. The first time I went camping at Edgar Evans, I had no idea what was going on! All I saw was platforms, and what I considered 'normal' camping sites were labeled 'primitive' sites. I was in total awe. I didn't know how it was going to work with a tent, but my boyfriend showed me that all you need to do is bring nails to hammer down and secure your tent to the wooden platform. Where as I was at first turned off by the platform, there are a few pluses:

-It rains A LOT in Tennessee. When I used to camp up north, we got flooded out during heavy rains, as we were camping directly on the ground. The platform keeps you elevated, so digging a trench around your tent is a non-issue.

-If you get a waterfront site (HIGHLY recommended), the views are gorgeous. I'd say go for the sites in the lower 40s - they're super close to a bathhouse and a few paths that will bring you down to the edge of some gorgeous cliffs, giving you the best view in the site. If you go in the other direction, you'll be looking at a community of house boats, which kinda blew my mind, as clusters of houseboats aren't really a thing up north, either.

-You can comfortably fit two tents on a platform; three is pushing it, but we've seen people pack around four in (which I don't think you're actually supposed to do).

-Something else I've noticed in TN - virtually all camping takes place at State Parks, and Edgar Evans is one of the few that actually offers wooden platforms and primitive sites. Most of them offer concrete platforms for RVs and smaller trailers, making it difficult to camp with a tent.

The sites in the lower 40s also offer more level ground for the fire pits. Some sites have a really steep drop off, which make it difficult to place chairs and sit and relax without being a little wobbly.

There's also a pretty big trail system to explore, and it seems like you might need to set aside an entire day to do the loop in its entirety - we're still planning on doing that! I find that I get more immersed in relaxation mode when I'm there instead of active hiking mode - taking a chair down to the cliffs and sitting by the water with a book makes for some beautiful downtime!

All of this being said, this is our favorite spot! We've come here at least twice, if not three times a year since I've moved down here. The staff is friendly and helpful, the campers are friendly, and there's usually lots of adorable dogs around to pet lol! Definitely love this place!

Some friends and I camped at Standing Stone during the 2017 Solar Eclipse. The state parks in Tennessee all hosted special programs for the event, and Standing Stone park rangers invited everyone to row out on the lake to watch this magnificent phenomenon. They provided boats and life jackets for everyone who registered and made sure everyone made it out on the water in time. The park also provided everyone with takeaway bags that included eclipse glasses and commemorative swag.

The campground and facilities included water and electric hookups as well as bathrooms with showers. Dogs are allowed as are camp vehicles.

The park has lots of great hiking trails, a playground, and a pool with concessions.

At the end of our trip, my car battery died and we called the park office. Within minutes, a park ranger arrived to jump me off. I can't say enough good things about this park.
