Ocean Lakes Family Campground operates a dedicated water park with multiple recreational pools where strict pet regulations apply. Pet owners must keep dogs away from the water amenities including the lazy river area. The resort requires all animals to remain on leash throughout the property, with designated walking paths situated away from high-traffic recreation areas. Access roads throughout the extensive beachfront property experience significant golf cart traffic, especially during evening hours and weekend events when campers parade decorated vehicles. Waste stations located at intervals across the grounds provide disposal options, though site cleanliness varies depending on seasonal occupancy levels. Concrete pad sites offer stability for larger rigs, while sections without concrete require additional setup considerations for extended stays during sandy or rainy conditions.

What you should know
Seasonal occupancy affects experience: Myrtle Beach KOA fluctuates dramatically between peak and off-seasons. "Very crowded as expected being so close to the strip, had to wait your turn to get a shower which were very hot and garbage was over flowing," reports Amber R. from Myrtle Beach KOA.
Weather and site conditions: Seasonal rain can affect camping conditions. "After a period of heavy rain there were large puddles and some sites partially flooded, so there might be some drainage issues," notes Cyndi B.
Check-in procedures vary: Arrival experiences differ between resorts. "We did pre check in before we arrived and they set all our paperwork in the mail. This was great bc all we had to do was place the tag on our mirror and drive in. Nice and easy after a 9 hr drive there," explains Samantha O.
Noise considerations: Activity levels follow predictable patterns. "Noise times are 7am-11pm. The good thing about this is at 11pm everything is quiet. No one is on the roads. All golf carts go away and people settle down for the night," observes Samantha O.
Tips for camping with families
Book activity times: Some pet friendly campgrounds near Jamestown implement scheduling systems for amenities. "During the Coronavirus pandemic we were required to reserve pool time and arcade time," explains Rose K. from Myrtle Beach Travel Park.
Consider site location: Positioning affects comfort and noise levels. "My husband and I and our dog were there for a week over Thanksgiving holiday. Our campsite was perfect. It was under the trees and spacious. However we were on the main road and there was a constant flow of RV traffic the entire time," reports Cynthia D.
Bring reusable drinkware: Local customs include bringing covered containers. "Alcohol is prohibited so we used aluminum reusable cups with lids. Everyone has these reusable cups all over the resort. So be like the jones and bring one. You can buy them at the store and they range from 10.99-40.00," advises Samantha O.
Early beach setup: Secure beach space by planning ahead. "Get up early and set up beach chairs. No one will take them and it will ensure you get a spot on the beach. We did this everyday. Some days we left our chairs on the beach and went to the pool and then went back to the beach later," suggests Samantha O.
Tips from RVers
Laundry services: Multiple options exist for clothing care. "The wash and fold service. I dropped my clothes off at 830am and they were cleaned and ready for pickup by 1030am. Best part it only cost me 21.00. I dropped off a giant bag of clothes," shares Samantha O.
Site selection criteria: Concrete pads provide significant benefits. "The concrete pad was very nice to have because the sand was hard to keep up with. I couldn't imagine how much sand there would have been in the camper if we were on sand," explains Samantha O.
Food options: On-site dining services offer convenience. "There is a small food area near the pool that offered great pizza, ice cream, chicken finger, etc. they will deliver to your campsite as long as it's not raining. Call ahead if your going to pick up the food because the lines get long," notes Samantha O.
Power and hookup considerations: Different sites offer varying utility options. "We had one of the ancient spots with shared power pole that we had to use converter to use the remaining 50amp (we only needed 30). Feel sorry if you were a class A rig and needed the 50 and only had 40 left," warns Ransom J.
