Best Dog-Friendly Camping near Conway, SC

Hideaway RV Park along the Intracoastal Waterway welcomes campers with pets across spacious, level concrete pads. Each site includes a picnic table and fire pit with full hookups for RVs. The park maintains a dedicated dog area with astroturf surfacing for convenient pet exercise. Sun Outdoors Myrtle Beach (formerly Carolina Pines RV Resort) offers 800 sites with both RV spots and pet-friendly cabins, featuring concrete pads and various pet amenities. Myrtle Beach State Park Campground, Ocean Lakes Family Campground, and Pirateland Family Camping Resort all accept pets with proper leashing required. Most campgrounds enforce leash rules throughout common areas, with Hideaway's fenced dog park providing one of the few off-leash options. Sites are generally well-spaced, though some locations have camping spots positioned closer together but still comfortable for pets and owners.

The Intracoastal Waterway access at Hideaway RV Park provides scenic walking opportunities along maintained paths where leashed dogs can enjoy water views. Multiple fishing piers allow pet owners to fish while keeping dogs nearby on leash. Pitts Landing offers dispersed camping options for those seeking a more primitive experience with pets, though visitors note it can be busy with local fishermen during daytime hours. Pet owners should be aware that loose sand at some Pitts Landing sites makes vehicle access challenging—parking and exploring on foot first is recommended. Most developed campgrounds near Conway provide daily trash pickup service, essential for pet waste management. Summer heat considerations are important when camping with pets in this region, as temperatures can rise significantly during peak season. Campers consistently report excellent WiFi access at Hideaway, allowing monitoring of weather conditions critical for pet safety during outdoor activities.

    Lynches River County Park

    Wonderful Park

My wife and I were looking fora tent-camping place along the I-95 corridor in South Carolina during spring break and weren't having much luck.  We decided to stay here and it was a great choice.  They are doing a lot of upgrades to make it a place to actual stay and enjoy with a splash pad, climbing wall, dog park and horse stalls.  The RV/Tent sites were all sandy and shaded and very spacious.  The bathrooms were very clean with two showers in each (MF).   We stayed there on a Saturday night and had the place to ourselves.  The next morning we hiked the nature trail and wetlands boardwalk and other trails on a hour-long walk before hitting the road.  Looking forward to another stay when we pass that way next.

    Florence RV Park

    Drive-By RV Parking Lot Community

This spot is so close to I95 (look for exit 169) that you’ll both feel and hear the swoosh of passing by traffic 24/7. So, while you’ll incur ease and convenience, that will come at a cost (privacy and quietude being what you will sacrifice most).  Located in the NE pocket of the Palmetto State, Florence RV Park, while not a destination per se, could be a nice (and incredibly easy) layover on your trip destination to anywhere else up or down this major east coast highway artery.

Despite the location, this spot has a lot to offer: an intimate little public pool behind the management office, WiFi hotspots, dog park, scattered picnic tables (in pretty good condition), kid’s playground, 20 / 30 / 50 amp hook-ups, dump station, dog walk area, catch & release fishing pond, propane refueling station, vending machines, small pond for fishing, basketball court, volleyball, badminton and horseshoe rings. There’s even 4-5 log cabins for rent at the front of the property (with full access to all the highway noise) and of course, good old fashioned on-site laundry facilities along with a mini-store that has most of the basics covered as well as fairly spartan shower / bathing facilities.

Insider’s tip? Here's a few: (1) The further east you are on the property, all the better as you’ll be positioned as far away from I95 traffic and noise; (2) If tent camping, I highly recommend spots #A7 – A13 and if you are RV’ing I recommend #L9 – L18 as well as any of the locations on J, K and F11 – F16; (3) There’s a lot to explore near here, from the Grand Strand of South Carolina, of course, Myrtle Beach and even Darlington Raceway, so if you don’t mind the overpopulated location with its westerly view of non-stop traffic, then this could be a good place to stop for the night or from which to launch your exploration of the area; (4) If you’ve looked at this RV campground’s website, don’t be fooled by the pictures – I don’t think any of them were actually taken of the place, save for the pond, and that was a close-up; and (5) If you are looking for a nearby spot to sample the local fare, I recommend checking out The Drive-In Restaurant with its 50s era nostalgia, big juicy burgers, fried everything, homemade onion rings and thick, creamy chocolate shakes.

    Happy Camping!

    Very Pristine Gated RV Resort

A very nice attendant greeted us as we approached the gate and opened it so we did not have to exit our RV. The sites are very spacious and are staggered so each RV is not looking into another. The Resort is located within walking distance to some restaurants in the quaint town of Lake City, SC. We travel with 3 dogs and appreciate the gated dog park. We would most definitely stay here again if in the area.

North Myrtle Beach RV Resort and Dry Dock Marina

Great Amenities - Quiet off season

We camped here in our 34 travel trailer. We both work from home on hot spots and our Verizon connection was great.

The place is VERY quiet in the off season. We didn’t have any neighbors in the surrounding spots.

The pool area looks super nice, but it was a little to chilly for us to spend any time in the pool. The hot tub however was a great way to end our work days! There are plenty of showers and two laundry rooms. Both are very nice and clean. There’s a small arcade which was fun too.

Check in was super easy. We were very late and they accommodated us. The staff is polite and friendly.

The site is great. Concrete pad makes for super quick and easy leveling set up. There’s a fire pit and picnic table. The spots next to us are “premium” so they have a little pavilion over their table.

The dog park is small and definitely geared towards smaller dogs. It has a cute agility type course set up. Our GSD felt a little to big for the dog park, but we made it work.

Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Daddy Joe's

Here We Go to Daddy Joe’s

We were delighted to find beautiful scenery, friendly staff and a comfortable campsite that included a picnic table and fire pit. Daddy Joe’s is an awesome place to bring the kiddos. A splash park, mini golf, swimming pools and the park has activities throughout the year. It’s dog friendly with two dog parks and plenty of places to walk and run!

    Great, except for the TRAINS!

The.grounds are immaculate, the showers and laundry (Free) are well maintained and the dog park has a water fountain for the dogs. It's within walking distance to the various  restaurants in town .

A great park...except for the trains.  The rails are within one block of the campground and the trains run frequently, day and night and are use their horns A LOT.

If you are a sound sleeper and have a really loud AC in your rig, enjoy the place, otherwise, make it a short stay.

Guide to Conway

Pet friendly camping near Conway, South Carolina offers convenient access to both beach and inland destinations. The area sits at the junction of Highway 501 and Highway 22, creating an easy gateway to Myrtle Beach while maintaining a quieter atmosphere. Summer temperatures typically reach 90°F with high humidity, while winter lows rarely drop below freezing, making year-round camping viable for pet owners seeking extended stays.

What to do

Fishing options: Myrtle Beach KOA provides an excellent home base for fishing enthusiasts with pets. Located just "3 bl9cks from beach," making it easy to enjoy shoreline fishing while keeping your dog nearby. As reviewer Mike P. notes, "this site is peaceful, very clean, staff is helpful, friendly. its a huge campgroynd, loafs of different sites for campers and rvs."

Beach access: Ocean Lakes Family Campground combines direct beach access with pet-friendly policies. One visitor explains, "Clean campground. We have a 27' trailer, a 9 yr old daughter and 12 yr old old son, and 2 boxers. This campground had everything we needed." The beach areas maintain reasonable restrictions while still accommodating responsible pet owners.

Nature observation: Huntington Beach State Park Campground provides excellent wildlife viewing opportunities for pet owners. "Do not miss saying hi to the wildlife on your way in. The egrets, herons, and gators are a beautiful sight heading to the camp sites and beaches," shares Theresa M. Dogs must remain leashed throughout the park to protect both pets and wildlife.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Pirateland Family Camping Resort maintains high standards that pet owners appreciate. According to Terri S., there are "clean climate controlled bath houses, beautiful beach access!" Another camper notes, "Bath houses are nice and clean, splash pool is top notch, putt putt, food, and the beach here is really nice."

Spacious sites: Myrtle Beach State Park Campground offers adequate room between campsites, important for pet owners. One reviewer mentions, "Campsites were well maintained, pier store has everything you could want or need, great walking trails and the most beautiful views in myrtle beach." The walking trails provide excellent pet exercise opportunities.

Pet-specific amenities: Many campgrounds in the Conway area provide dedicated pet areas. According to a visitor at Sun Outdoors Myrtle Beach, the park offers "wonderful dog park with a dog wash...great pools...great water park and golf...OUTSIDE eating excellent....bathrooms well maintained." These dedicated facilities make traveling with pets more convenient.

What you should know

Site spacing varies: While the existing description mentions site spacing, it's worth noting that Apache Family Campground sites can be particularly close. "We only have a 24 foot motor home - so we felt a bit claustrophobic between the huge RVs on all sides of us," reports one camper, who then "decided to move to a different site that gave is some more room."

Seasonal considerations: Conway area campgrounds experience different crowd levels throughout the year. A visitor to Apache Family Campground explained, "We went off season - October 2019 - and while the park still had a lot of people there were plenty of sites empty. Since it was off season the camp store and shuttle service was not open."

Reservation planning: Securing pet-friendly sites requires advance planning, particularly during peak times. A reviewer at Huntington Beach State Park noted, "We camp here as often as possible. Fills fast, so make reservations well in advance." This is especially important for travelers with pets who need specific accommodations.

Tips for camping with families

Consider entertainment options: Pet friendly camping with kids works best when activities are available. At Lakewood Camping Resort, "There is a coffee house, seaside amphitheater, seaside indoor pool, and tons of activities for the family, all of which is included with your campsite."

Plan for weather: The Conway area experiences summer storms that affect both people and pets. According to a visitor at Myrtle Beach Travel Park, "We were required to reserve pool time and arcade time. The beach area is great as well as the store and funnel cake stand." Having indoor options keeps everyone comfortable during inclement weather.

Balance privacy and activities: Finding the right mix of seclusion and engagement matters when camping with families and pets. A camper at Myrtle Beach Travel Park explained, "As someone who enjoys Myrtle beach but not all the people his park was a great compromise. You are close enough to all of the tourist destinations to fill your week with entertainment while not being right in the middle of town."

Tips from RVers

Site selection matters: RVers with pets should research specific site features. A visitor to Myrtle Beach State Park advised, "Need to drive very slowly to campsite. All sites sand based. Lots of trees on some of the camping sites one would need to navigate around. Our site was on a corner, level and easy to get into - 34 ft class A with toad."

Hookup reliability: Full hookups are common but quality varies between Conway area campgrounds. At Hideaway RV Park, campers appreciate that "All concrete pads with a picnic table and fire pit. Some sites are kinda close together, but doable. About 15 minutes to the beach. Pretty quiet and a nice park overall."

Wi-Fi considerations: Connectivity varies significantly between locations. According to one Hideaway RV Park visitor, there's "Screaming WiFi suitable for streaming and very friendly folks. Having said that there are a couple things you need to know. It's prone to flooding in the winter season and you may need to move sites."
