Pennsylvania's hardwood forests in the Reinholds area offer unique camping opportunities at elevations ranging from 400 to 800 feet. The region experiences mild summers with average temperatures in the mid-80s and moderate humidity, creating ideal conditions for overnight stays in natural settings. Campsites throughout the area feature varying terrain from wooded hideaways to open meadows.
What to do
Hiking and trail exploration: French Creek State Park Campground offers extensive trail systems through diverse woodland. "All sites have a paved level area which made set up a breeze. Sites were not on top of each other. Bathrooms were very nice and clean with large showers," reports Jen R. from French Creek State Park Campground.
Fishing opportunities: Access multiple fishing spots at Pinch Pond. "Very nice and clean campground. Store, pool and cafe. Firewood and minature golf available. Some tight spots to navigate through. Nice fishing in the lake," notes Edward M.
Cultural excursions: The Pennsylvania Dutch countryside surrounds Thousand Trails PA Dutch Country, offering unique cultural experiences. "This campground will put your mind at ease and let you uncover the lost culture of this unique community. I remember going to the market and learning about culture that I was not necessarily familiar with before," shares Meag F.
What campers like
Private, wooded sites: Many campers appreciate the natural setting at French Creek. "French Creek State Park is a 7,526-acre Pennsylvania state park... This is a beautiful state park with so many wonderful activities. We LOVE camping here as the campsites are not right on top of one another. There is a lot of shade and the campground is laid out well," writes Jen R.
Kid-friendly splash areas: Adventure Bound Camping Resort at Eagles Peak offers water play features that families enjoy. "Great place for the family. The splash park is a lot of fun for both the kids and adults. The RV sites are spacious," notes Ashley S.
Scenic vistas: The Lancaster-New Holland KOA provides exceptional countryside views. "Best kept secret in the area. Peaceful, beautiful valley views of Amish country," states Angie G.
Clean facilities: The upkeep of shower and bathroom facilities receives consistent praise. "The bathhouse at the campground is very nice and new however it is a little on the dirty side... There are two large showers as well with very warm water," notes a French Creek camper.
What you should know
Seasonal considerations: Most glamping near Reinholds operates from April through October, with specific availability varying by location. "We have been camping at Starlite with Dave and family for 15+ years. The campground is in a great location with easy access to Lancaster, Hershey and many other places to explore," explains Elizabeth L. from Starlite Camping Resort.
Site leveling challenges: Many campgrounds in the area have uneven terrain. "Unlevel is an understatement we were in E row and every camper there had front end 4 foot off the ground. Many other sites were the same," warns Justin B. about Thousand Trails PA Dutch Country.
Noise factors: Some campgrounds experience noise from nearby activities. "The only thing that is negative is that there is a shooting range right next door. It is pretty consistent from lunch to dinner. If your out and about, it won't be an issue," reports Tara N. about Pinch Pond.
