    Cross Creek Camping Resort

Big Resort with lots of trees

This is a RV resort close to a lake with a lot of seasonal campers. It is busy on the weekend but was very quiet during the week. The sites are close, but not unreasonably close. Good mix of pull through and back in and is big rig friendly. Plenty to do for the kids. Pool looks nice, was not open yet for the season.

    Amish Country Campsites

    Amish campsite

Very small campgrounds literally next to if not part of a corn field extremely cramped back if our camper was 2ft from the camper behind us and 15 ft from the campers left to right. When we left we had to knock on camper doors to ask folks to move their cars so we could pull out of out parking spot. The other campers were very nice lots of local folks they were fun to talk to. The camp site did have clean showers. Hot water. And. Clean restroom facilities. The dump station isn’t the best it is on a hill so dumping ones waste tanks completely could be a challenge The owners were polite but short The sites aren’t the best the electric is only 30 amp. And very dated they did have water hookups at each site. I didn’t take any pictures as there wasn’t anything to see at the campground other than campers packed in like sardines It is close to town and the shops. Everything closed at 5:00 including gas stations As they say any port in a storm. So as a last resort I guess it’s is okay. Just don’t plan to leave after 5:00 pm unless you have a full tank of gas. No ada camp sites. They are pet friendly

    River Trail Crossing

    Nice little campground

River Trail Crossing is privately owned, small campground (which we like) but nice and quiet. Sites include tents, small rigs and large pull through sites for big rigs. Sites located on the river are water and electric. Sites off the river have 50 amp and 30 amp. State route 95 runs to the right of the campsite so if you reserve any sites on the river (right side) you will have some traffic noise from the bridge. We reserved spot 32, farthest site to the right on the river. We loved it. The river was only about knee to hip deep. Most family’s floated with tubes and saw some kayaks. Not much for fishing at this particular section of the river. There is a paved bike/walking trail behind the campground - B&O trail. Bathrooms and showers were very clean. They do have 2 dumpsites available. We really enjoyed this campground, owners were very friendly and offer firewood and propane if needed. Mohican state park is only 10-15 minutes away which is really nice for hiking and fishing as well. We will be back!

    Cross Creek Camping Resort

    Excellent Campground!

Cross Creek Camping Resort in Delaware, Ohio is a very nice campground with friendly staff and lots of amenities! There are large back-in and pull-thru sites, each with grass, tree, picnic table, and fire pit. They are 30/50 amp with FHU. The campground has lots of fun things for the family such as swimming pool, playground, basketball, tennis, dog run, laundry, yard games, and so much more! The store is stocked with snacks, souvenirs, clothing, camping supplies, holiday decor, etc. We love the large shade trees at every site. It is a blessing on those hot summer days. All in all, a great campground! Check it out when in the area. 👍🏻😉

    Berkshire Campgrounds

    Incorrect pricing

The price advertised on The Dyrt is incorrect. It is not $38.50/day. We paid $50.29 with full hook ups. Very clean, staff very nice, but guests are not allowed without registering at the office. Many seasonal/full time residents which made for quite a bit of early morning traffic. Beautiful fishing pond with well groomed trails. Dogs are allowed off leash on the trails. Staff very pet friendly and courteous. Well appointed camp store. Water pressure excellent. Electric well within standard. Gravel pads, our site was off 2”.

    Tree Haven Campground

    Great first RV experience.

Great little campground. My wife and I spent a month out there in a fifth wheel to see if we like the lifestyle. Very nice pool(clean). Great walking trail back through the woods. Pet friendly and the bathrooms were very nice. Well....I guess we did! We are now in a search for a Diesel pusher to go full-time!

    Salt Fork State Park Campground

    Great fall camping

Dated, but pretty clean bath\shower building with clothes washer and dryer ($2). Sites in C-loop are far enough apart to not feel too crammed together. Power pedestal has 20, 30 and 50 amp service. 30 amp worked fine. Lots of trails, allowing dogs on leash. True, other amenities are a drive of at least a couple miles to get to. ATT service was fine for streaming using ROKU and my phone as a hotspot. Paved, level pads, but not long enough for largest trailers. Check size if you have one. Sites at South end of loop get the most shade

    Alum Creek State Park Campground

Beautiful State Park close to Columbus Ohio

Alum Creek State Park is a beautiful park and great campground just outside the hustle and bustle of downtown Columbus and minutes away from attractions such as the Columbus Zoo.

The campground has good sized sites and is wooded throughout with clean bath houses, well maintained roads, and easy access for big rigs.

There is also a very nice dog park in the park including dog beaches with lake access for your pups to swim.

We love this campground and the beautiful lake and appreciate the easy access to local attractions, shopping, and more.

The Mohican River Valley near Danville, Ohio sits at an elevation of approximately 960 feet, characterized by rolling hills and forested terrain with over 4,500 acres of state forest. Camping options range from primitive riverside sites to full-service RV parks with temperatures typically ranging from 50-85°F during peak camping season. Water levels in the Mohican River fluctuate seasonally, affecting both fishing conditions and canoe launch accessibility at many campgrounds.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: At Kokosing River Campground, the lake attracts various waterfowl and provides a peaceful fishing environment. "Nice, small, shaded, well maintained campground. Beautiful lake, nice a quiet. Lots of waterfowl," notes one visitor who stayed in September when the campground wasn't crowded.

Kayaking and tubing: Kokosing River Campground offers calm waters ideal for beginners. "Kayaking on the lake is great," shares a camper who visited during Labor Day weekend. The area's multiple water access points make it convenient for families with children wanting to enjoy water activities.

Cycling opportunities: The paved B&O trail runs behind River Trail Crossing RV Park, providing direct access for cyclists. "Bike trail access right from the campground. Golf nearby, Amish shops, canoeing," mentions a reviewer who appreciated the convenient location for multiple activities.

Explore Amish Country: The campgrounds near Danville provide access to authentic Amish experiences. "Spent the weekend here while visiting Amish country in Ohio," writes one camper who used Berlin RV Park as a base for exploring the region's cultural attractions.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Berlin RV Park & Campground receives consistent praise for its immaculate bathrooms. "SPOTLESS bathrooms and I mean SPOTLESS," emphasizes one reviewer. Another mentions, "Restroom/shower facilities are excellent. There are three showers in each of the mens and womens sides. Each shower has a locking door and a sink."

Winter camping options: Evergreen Park RV Resort stands out for year-round operation. "We camped here the second weekend in December and had the park mostly to ourselves. There were only 3 other campers there. The game room was nice as well as the indoor pool," shares a winter visitor who appreciated the heated amenities during off-season.

Riverfront camping: Many campers value riverside sites for their ambiance. "We had a riverfront spot for 4 nights, enjoyed our stay," notes a reviewer who found the 30-amp service sufficient even during hot weather. The sound of flowing water creates a peaceful backdrop at many campgrounds in the area.

Well-maintained grounds: "Beautiful, and I mean beautiful park. It rained and rained most of our visit. No mud puddles, not even at water hook up," writes a camper about the drainage quality and landscaping at Evergreen Park RV Resort.

What you should know

Electric capacity varies: Some rv parks near Danville have limited electrical capacity at certain sites. At Lake Wapusun RV Resort, a camper noted specific limitations: "Our site was a normal GFI outlet and couldn't run a/c and air fryer, no biggie we did wings over a fire."

Site leveling challenges: Not all campgrounds offer perfectly level sites. "The only complaint is that the sites are not flat," reports a camper at Mohican Adventures Campground. Bringing leveling blocks is recommended, especially for larger RVs.

Seasonal operations: Most rv camping options near Danville operate only from April through October. Scenic Hills RV Park runs from April 1 to November 1, while River Trail Crossing operates from May 1 to October 16. Plan accordingly if visiting during shoulder seasons.

Primitive camping options: For those seeking a more rustic experience, Mohican State Park offers free hike-in primitive sites. "There are 10 free camp sites for backpackers in Mohican, each is about a mile hike in, no vehicles can reach these sites. There are 4 on the mountain bike trail and 6 on the horse trails, first come first serve, no reservations."

Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly amenities: Whispering Hills Jellystone RV Park offers numerous activities designed specifically for children. "Great activities including mini golf, pool, jumping pad and frisbee golf," reports a family visitor. Another mentions, "My boys were able to walk across the road to get to the pond that was well stocked with fish."

Swimming options: Several campgrounds feature swimming facilities that extend the camping season. "The indoor pool is great for enjoying a swim even in January," notes a camper at Evergreen Park RV Resort, making it suitable for family visits throughout the year.

Playground facilities: Berlin RV Park provides multiple play areas. "Lots to do for kids - Sand Volleyball, basketball court, tetherball, corn hole area and playground," reports a family who stayed during Labor Day weekend when facilities were busy but well-maintained.

Safety considerations: Choose campgrounds with contained play areas. "We stayed in a small group of sites which made it safe for kids to run around and play," mentions a parent who camped at Mohican Adventures, appreciating the layout that allowed for supervision while giving children freedom to explore.

Tips from RVers

Site selection: At Wally World, consider your location preferences carefully. "The campground itself is nestled in the bend of the Mohican river, so most sites have a river view even if you aren't on a Riverside site," explains an RVer who appreciated the layout.

Hookup information: Full-service sites are limited at some campgrounds. "Only downside is most of the sites don't have a sewer hookup so make sure to bring a portable tank if you are staying for more than a couple of days," advises a visitor to Wally World.

Navigation warnings: GPS directions can be unreliable in this rural area. "Getting here proved to be tricky, as it seems all of the GPS apps and my Garmin routed us on a county road that is not fit for RVs of any type," warns one RVer who suggests specific alternate routes to avoid problems.

Water filtration: Water quality can vary at rv parks in Danville area. "I'd have a filter for water also," recommends a camper who stayed at Lake Wapusun, suggesting this simple preparation can improve the camping experience, especially for longer stays.
