The region surrounding Brady Lake, Ohio features a variety of established campgrounds within a 30-minute drive, primarily centered around state parks and private facilities. West Branch State Park Campground in Wayland stands out with year-round availability, offering tent, RV, cabin, and yurt accommodations with boat-in access to Kirwan Reservoir. Silver Springs Campground in Stow provides a more seasonal option (April to October) with electric hookups and pet-friendly policies. The Streetsboro-Cleveland SE KOA operates from May through mid-October with full amenities including cabins and glamping options. Most campgrounds in the area feature wooded settings with varying degrees of privacy between sites.

Reservations are strongly recommended during summer months when waterfront sites fill quickly, particularly at West Branch State Park and Woodside Lake Park in Streetsboro. As one camper noted, "The beach is never too packed. You can take kayaks out and venture off around the shores." Cell service varies considerably throughout the region, with some campgrounds reporting weak coverage for certain carriers. Most established campgrounds maintain well-maintained facilities with clean bathrooms and showers, though primitive camping options along the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath may have more limited amenities. Weather conditions remain relatively mild from late spring through early fall, with occasional thunderstorms during summer months.

Lakefront camping represents a significant draw in the Brady Lake vicinity, with several reviewers highlighting water access as a key feature. According to one visitor at West Branch State Park, "This state park was very welcome after our first two unlucky Ohio state park experiences. We had no trouble pulling in at 3 pm on a Sunday after Labor Day with no reservations and snagging a very nice spot backing up to Kirwan Reservoir." Families appreciate the playgrounds and recreational amenities at many campgrounds, while cyclists and hikers can find specialized camping options along the historic Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath. Train and traffic noise affects some campgrounds in the region, particularly those near Streetsboro, though most sites offer reasonable separation from major highways.

      Shenango Recreation Area Campground

      Love this place!

I've been coming here since I was born. I'm always drawn back to my roots. It's a great family campground with sites and hookups for everyone. No store, but Hermitage and Transfers PA are both 3 to 5 minutes away for whatever you need. Firewood is 20 dollars per tub but you get a ton of good dry wood. If your into RTT Like me check out old duck loop or new duck loop for some awesome sights. Playgrounds for the kids. Ranger activites on the weekends. Well policed and patrolled. Just a great place and beautiful lake! Fishing is top notch as well. Clean bathrooms and showers. Ice is available at check in, firewood at host site 55.

      Punderson State Park Campground

      Nice campground

Fishing, boating, clean areas. Nice fire pits, and nice cement pads. Gave 4 instead of 5 stars because the entry gate and shop doesnt always have employees in it. Closes early in day.

      Thompson/Grand River Valley KOA Holiday

      Another job done

First time at a koa. Wasn’t a bad experience but I was there from march thru December instead of getting the season rate they charged me the monthly rate it cost me $3000 extra and I was treated like a seasonal camper had to mow my own grass and take out my own trash so I will not be staying at another koa

      Punderson State Park Campground

Lots of activities but not within walking distance

Sites are clean with a variety of hook-ups but few are 100% level. It appears to be an older CG. I’m in a 21’ van and tried several sites before one was level enough for me without blocks. Most sites are on the smaller side but FHU sites are okay for larger rigs. Numerous sites are walk-in and popular with tenters, they are very private and you park pretty close and walk up or down an embankment. Potable water and a dump station are available. Sites have picnic tables and fire rings. Staff is great! Swimming beach is across the lake from the CG and too far to walk for most. Marina is available. Restrooms are nice.

      Valley Overlook

      Absolutely Wonderful

Absolutely a great spot for large private heavily wooded sites! Only primitive non electric site for roof top campers is C5! Others are park and walk or to small to open up and be comfy. Great cabins and yurts! Clean bathrooms and showers. Everything here is done online from reservation to buying wood and so Ice so prepare for that.

      Hidden Valley Camp Ground

      Nice hidden little gem!

Family run campground that's been around for 45 years. Small place. Mostly seasonal campers. They have a few walk up tent sights. RTT campers will have to take a back in sight but they will not charge you extra unless you plug into electric. 1 swimming pond, 3 great bass fishing ponds. Nice camp store. Bathrooms are clean.

      Mosquito Lake State Park Campground

Beautiful campground, choose your site wisely

When we arrived, we checked in at the camp office. The ladies there were very kind. The roads through the campground are wide enough for two-way traffic and nicely paved.

This is a beautiful, heavily treed campground. Even on Memorial Day weekend with lots of people, the park was very peaceful. The sounds of birds permeate the air round the clock. Chipmunks run amok. They’re just so cute.

We booked site 56 for our 39’ fifth wheel. As soon as we pulled up, we knew there was no way we’d fit even though the reservation site said it would accommodate a 40’ rig. The camp hosts happened to be passing by as we were surveying the site. They were very helpful redirecting us to a nearby site that would be more suitable. FYI, sites 55 and 56 have deep culverts on either side. One wrong turn and you’re going to have a problem. The majority of sites along our road were just wide enough to keep the tires out of the dirt, but not wide enough for the stairs to land on asphalt. If you have a motorhome or other wide-bodied rig, like an Alliance Paradigm, I would recommend choosing one of the sites on the loop around the playground. Those are better suited for newer big rigs.

TIP…the line at the dump station is long on the holiday weekends. Plan accordingly.

Jamestown Campground — Pymatuning State Park

      Awesome place to camp

Pymatuning Lake Campground is a huge 700 site family oriented campground. Sites are large and clean and your not packed in. Bathrooms and showers are OK but they are clean. Best part of being here is the awesome fishing. Know for huge black crappie, walleye, and small and big mouth bass. This is the place to go fishing.

    Guide to Brady Lake

Camping near Brady Lake, Ohio encompasses diverse terrain with elevations ranging from 1,050 to 1,200 feet across northeastern Ohio's glaciated plateau. Sites typically receive 38-42 inches of annual precipitation, with campgrounds experiencing temperatures between 75-85°F during peak summer months. Most camping areas remain open from April through October, though select facilities maintain year-round operations.

    What to Do

Fishing access points: At West Branch State Park Campground, campers can launch kayaks directly from waterside sites. "Great site! Shades lots of space semi private area. Right off the water with area to tie boat for easy water access," notes one visitor about the lakefront camping options.

Hiking network: The region offers interconnected trail systems within a 20-minute drive from most campgrounds. "There are many scenic hiking trails at West Branch. Bridal trails are located on Esworthy Rd," explains a regular visitor who highlights the diverse terrain options.

Disc golf courses: Several parks maintain disc golf facilities for varying skill levels. A camper from Punderson State Park describes, "Opportunities for disc golf, archery range, canoeing/kayaking/row boats, swimming (no lifeguard) and golf."

Dog-friendly recreation: Multiple parks feature designated dog swimming areas. "Fantastic dog park with a swimming beach for dogs only. Fun to watch them play even if you don't have a dog," reports a visitor at Silver Springs Campground.

    What Campers Like

Private wooded sites: Silver Springs Campground offers spacious sites in a quiet setting. "The campsite was quaint but very peaceful. Sites were a good size and fit the online description well. Some sites are full sun while others are mostly shade but the website describes them well," explains a recent camper.

Clean facilities: Many parks maintain well-serviced bathroom facilities. At Countryside Campground, "The bathrooms were clean, the showers were nice and the pool was well kept. Each site comes with a fire ring and picnic table both in good condition."

Affordable options: Several campgrounds offer budget-friendly rates with ample amenities. One visitor to Mill Creek Camping noted, "Low cost for staying ($18 for a waterside, spacious site for up to 8 people, 2 tents at no additional costs)."

Swimming opportunities: Multiple lakes provide designated swimming areas throughout summer months. "The swimming pond has inflatables and boat rentals. There's good fishing, and typically lots of activities," reports a camper at Woodside Lake Park.

    What You Should Know

Site topography challenges: Many campgrounds feature uneven terrain requiring leveling equipment. At Punderson State Park Campground, "The lots are not even close to level. You will need a lot of blocks to get close to level. Saw one RV with auto levelers with his tire about foot off the ground."

Reservation requirements: Summer weekends typically require advance booking at most established sites. "Make reservations! (6 months in advance). Waterside sites fill up quickly!" advises a West Branch State Park regular.

Water quality variations: Some facilities experience well water issues affecting taste and appearance. At Woodside Lake Park, "Iron & sulfur laden well water that is provided in at least half the park. It damages everything."

Traffic noise: Proximity to highways affects sound levels at certain campgrounds. Heritage Farms campers note, "You can hear the highway from the campground, despite the fact that it is located a good distance away. It didn't bother us at night, but we definitely heard it first thing in the morning."

    Tips for Camping with Families

Activity scheduling: Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park offers hourly organized events for children. "This place is AMAZING for families with kids! Tons of planned activities (about every hour) for everyone to enjoy. Huge pool, gem mine, mini golf, and homemade ice cream!"

Space for free play: Open fields at many parks provide room for games and exploration. At Countryside Campground, a visitor with four children reported the tent sites are "very large and spacious. There is a nice medium sized pool. There is a lot of green area to play a game."

Beach access considerations: Swimming areas vary in quality and accessibility. "The swimming area is alright, a little muddy in areas, but the beach is kept clean," notes a regular at West Branch State Park.

Campsite location strategy: Choose sites carefully based on bathroom proximity with children. A Woodside Lake Park visitor advises, "If you're staying at this park for just the weekend or stopping by, ensure to get a space numbered under 100. All the 100+ spots are actually across a busy residential street."

    Tips from RVers

Hookup limitations: Heritage Farms provides primitive camping with minimal amenities. "No drinking water on site- but there is wash up water & very clean porta potties," reports one RVer who appreciated the surroundings despite basic facilities.

Access challenges: Some campgrounds have difficult entry points for larger rigs. At Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park, "We have a 41 foot class A and we were centimeters from dragging our bumper crossing the road to park."

Water hookup strategy: West Branch State Park visitors note water fill issues: "The water fill is on an incline so when our tank was 'full' pulling away from fill station it was really only 2/3 full."

Storm drainage problems: Heavy rain can affect site conditions. At Jellystone Park, a camper noted, "After a huge downpour of rain for a day, our beautiful premium site flooded."
