    Lovely Little Campsite

Our first time camping in Nevada, and first time camping for my son. It's only 40 mins away from us. We went there the weekend before my son's school starts as last hurrah. It was a great way to scape Vegas heat. It hits 64 Lows during early morning and up to 78 on daytime. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. I got lucky getting a FF site #6. I went on Friday afternoon and came back Saturday morning to book it for two nights. Left early Sunday evening.

Although most people has trailers and RVs, we had a 9 person tent and plenty of fun. The site we got was perfectly closed to the restroom which was a plus since my brother was on crutches. Site has 30A, 50A,110 Power. Water spigot was also just a step away from the site. There's a little creek on the side, but dried up for summer. Water might be on during rainy days or when snow melts. It's by the side of the highway so you will hear some loud cars time to time, but not too bothersome. It's very quite at night, except for the soothing cricket sounds.

We will be back for sure!

Longstreet Inn Casino & RV Resort

Very chill RV park behind a casino

This place is literally in the middle of nowhere- which is awesome! We drove away from the campground at night for some amazing star viewing. The casino food was okay. This place is about forty five minutes away from Death Valley National Park. Campground is nicely maintained. Theoretically there are showers inside the casino but we have yet to actually find them 🤷‍♀️ My dogs had fun barking at the cow, sheep and donkey at the casino “petting zoo” which was really just a few poor animals living sad lives in a tiny fenced in area. The Mountain View is amazing for sunsets and definitely a plus!

    Front Sight Campground

Very flat huge open spot for camping!

This is next door to an active gun range. You will hear gunfire. If that makes you uncomfortable, you should not plan on staying here.

Just outside of the facility is a massive flat area for camping and parking. It is on BLM land, however, if you plan on staying here I recommend giving security a heads up. Knowing this is BLM land they should not give you a hard time, but if they do, remind them of your right to stay on public lands, or give them the info to call the local Blm office.

** There are no services nearby! The nearest gas station is 25 minutes away.**

The location is about 7 mi from highway 160. It's about 25 minutes to Pahrump, and about 40 minutes to the outskirts of Vegas.

The entrance and exit off of the paved road is easy with very little obstacles to maneuver. There are existing fire pits too. There are a ton of off-roading trails in the area, and I hear this area is incredible for spotting reptiles and desert tortoises.

From the main camping area there is a road that heads slightly East to an additional area with another set of secluded spots. These more secluded spots are not for big motorhomes IMO, though a truck and trailer should be okay to get out there.

I stayed here for a few days in January and was impressed with the peace and quiet (I was the only one here) and sweeping Mountain views.

    SKP Pair-a-Dice RV Park

    Must Be An Escapees Member

This is a co-op park owned by Escapees and Escapees members. You must belong to Escapees RV club to use any of their services.

Escapees members can stay here if you're just passing through even if you aren't part of the co-op, but sites are usually occupied by members in winter months. Full hookup sites are $30/night, boondock sites are $10/night, first night is free, and you can use the dump for free if you stay 7 nights.

They have nice single unit non-gendered restroom/showers.

Propane on site is $2.75/gal (so cheap compared to what prices are now), but they only fill on Wednesdays.

We only stopped in to use their dump, which is $10, and you must be an Escapees Member even just for that.

Nice staff and nice basic dusty desert RV park. There's a really nice big dog park with lots of agility set ups, and an area set aside to wash your RV. Garbage dumpsters throughout, didn't see any recycling.

Texas Springs Campground — Death Valley National Park

Protected from wind, not as crowded.

I moved here after camping outside the park to get away from high winds and found a sheltered site. Cost is $16 pay at kiosk with card or nearby furnace creek visitors center. Water, flush toilet, and dumpster. Sites are fairly close together but I had plenty of room bc this campground was much less crowded than nearby furnace creek. Easily accessible in any vehicle. Enjoyed my stay - friendly camp host. Showers can be purchased for $5 30 min away at stovepipe wells hotel or right down the hill at TheRanch for a steep $14 which also gets you into their swank pool. Gas is nearby. I ended up going into Pahrump Nevada 1 hr away for laundry, cheap gas, tractor supply propane refill, groceries and an oil change. Nice camp host. This was my favorite camp out of the 4 I stayed at during my time in Death Valley.

Lovell Canyon Dispersed Camping (Spring Mountain)

    Quick getaway

This is a great little getaway outside of las vegas and pahrump. After a few miles in, you hit some trees and cooler weather. Stayed for one night, but will definitely be going back. You can ride around on toys and there are several hiking trails. Fire pits only. Some you can park a rig next to, of various sizes, and some require a short walk with a tent.

Lovell Canyon Dispersed Camping (Spring Mountain)

    My favorite boondocking site

Quiet, secluded spot between Las Vegas and Pahrump Nevada. First come, first served but it was very quiet when we were there. The Boondocking experience is my favorite part of camping/travelling and this was a great spot. Spent 2 weeks here and didn't come in contact with anybody! Other people were there but all well dispersed.

    Pahrump RV Park

    Avoid like plague.

I am giving it low rating because the manager is a liar. She said my cat will be allowed outside but on the day of signing the lease and moving in, she wrote down on the lease that the cat is not permitted outside of the RV. Of course, I refused to move in. She waisted my time and money. There are few spaces that are shaded and these are taken, the rest are treeless. The spaces are small. No swimming pool. I was told the Wifi is sketchy. The neighborhood is also sketchy.

The area sits at elevations ranging from 2,700 to 3,600 feet, creating temperature variations 5-15°F cooler than Las Vegas. What to Do

Desert hiking access: Wheeler Pass Road Dispersed offers multiple access points to Spring Mountains hiking trails within 15-minute drives from most camping spots. "We had a good time here. Camp spots are fairly spread out and mostly flat...Beautiful scenery. Quiet. Temps cooler than in town," notes a camper about the Lovell Canyon Dispersed Camping.

Fishing opportunities: Campers staying at lakeside parks have immediate water access. "Amazing landscaping and scenery, super friendly staff, lots of convenience nearby... The complimentary to premium sites paddle board and kayak rentals were closed due to COVID but that is understandable in this environment," shares a visitor at Lakeside Casino & RV Resort.

Stargazing sessions: The dark skies around Pahrump provide exceptional astronomy viewing conditions with minimal light pollution. Bring binoculars or telescopes for optimal viewing. "We arrived before sunset, full of small spots along the road, which allows everyone to have their own space surrounded by vegetation," reports a camper about Lovell Canyon's night sky viewing locations.

What Campers Like

Temperature relief: Higher elevation sites offer escape from summer heat. "Great campground to escape the Vegas heat. Sites have ample space, fire pits and good distance from neighbors. Many trees make it so you have a shady spot to camp," reports a visitor to McWilliams Campground.

Dog exercise areas: Pet-friendly facilities beyond basic allowance provide dedicated spaces. "We spent a month at this lovely campground. The amenities are awesome with a small lake in the middle of the park. Our dog loved walking around the lake and spending time in the dog run," notes a camper about Lakeside Casino & RV Resort.

Community activities: RV parks offer organized social events and amenities. "Very attractive setting. 2 swimming pools, pickleball courts, mountain views. Well kept and managed... Free breakfast M,W,F. Winery has a restaurant," explains a visitor to Wine Ridge RV Resort.

What You Should Know

Age restrictions vary: While the 10-year rule exists at some parks, enforcement differs by location and maintenance. "They need to inspect your rig before they will let you in for the 10 year rule and to make sure it looks nice, although there are other rigs in the park that are well over 10 years old and look like crap," notes a camper about Pahrump Station RV Park.

Water availability limited: Most dispersed sites require bringing all water supplies. "Located between 2 casinos... Surrounded by BLM land had a great time flying the Drone," mentions a visitor to Pahrump RV Park, highlighting activities but noting no water amenities.

Membership requirements: Some campgrounds require specific memberships for access. "This is a co-op park owned by Escapees and Escapees members. You must belong to Escapees RV club to use any of their services... Full hookup sites are $30/night, boondock sites are $10/night, first night is free," explains a reviewer of SKP Pair-a-Dice RV Park.

Tips for Camping with Families

Wildlife viewing opportunities: Morning and evening hours offer the best animal spotting chances. "There is a mountain meadow not far from the campground and wild horses go there to graze, we have also seen mule deer near the meadow," shares a visitor about McWilliams Campground.

Playground alternatives: When formal play structures aren't available, natural features provide recreation. "We love camping at Mount Charleston in the summer! It provides the perfect break from the Vegas heat!... We had a very small herd of wild mustangs go through our site! Very cool!"

Budget-friendly options: Dog friendly campgrounds near Pahrump include free dispersed sites requiring no fees. "Literally free! Cell service, dispersed, dirt roads, close to stores and everything in between... also next door is an RV place and you can dump and fill your water if you needed to," explains a camper at BLM Dispersed.

Tips from RVers

Alternative dump stations: When park facilities aren't available, nearby options exist. "We only stopped in to use their dump, which is $10, and you must be an Escapees Member even just for that... There's a really nice big dog park with lots of agility set ups, and an area set aside to wash your RV."

Gravel site considerations: Many pet-friendly campsites around Pahrump feature gravel surfaces. "The sites are all gravel as are the roads, but have cement slabs," reports a visitor to Preferred RV Resort, noting the surface conditions for RV leveling and pet comfort.

Water management: Limited supply locations require planning. "We stayed in the Boondocking section... They have 18 FCFS sites with no hookups or amenities. Members get their first night free and additional nights are seven dollars. Or you can pay seven dollars like I did on your first night to access the sewer dump and water," explains a visitor to SKP Pair-a-Dice RV Park.
