Cabins near Long Lane, Missouri offer year-round accommodations with varying amenities across campgrounds. The area sits in the heart of the Ozarks with elevations ranging from 1,000 to 1,400 feet above sea level. Winter cabin rental temperatures typically range from 20°F to 45°F while summer temperatures can reach 85-95°F with moderate humidity levels.
What to do
Trout fishing access points: Bennett Spring State Park Campground provides direct access to premier trout fishing areas with stocked rainbow and brown trout. "After one visit, this became one of my favorite state parks. This is one of Missouri's 'trout parks' with a hatchery and release sites so fishing (which actually becomes catching) is a big draw," reports Nancy W.
Hiking trail options: Four main trails ranging from 0.5 to 7.5 miles wind through the forests surrounding cabins. Bennett Spring State Park Campground features "over twenty miles of hiking trails meandering through its 3,216 acres. Trails range from a leisurely walk along the stream to that of rigorous mountain trails that reward hikers with great picturesque views of the Ozark Mountains."
Winter cabin activities: Several cabin rentals remain open during cooler months for off-season stays. "This is the third time staying here. This time wife and I took our small camper just to get away for the weekend. We stayed in campground one because it is the only one open during the off season," notes Nathan P.
What campers like
Spacious sites with concrete pads: Multiple cabin locations feature level concrete parking areas. "Level concrete pads on most sites. The sites are fairly large so you're not on top of your neighbor. It has a playground and a large area in the middle of the loop for playing," according to Ken K. at Riverfront Campground and Canoe.
Direct river access: Many cabin options provide immediate Niangua River access for swimming and water activities. "The river has a couple nice gravel bars for swimming," Ken K. adds about Riverfront Campground.
Farm-based cabin experience: Some properties offer unique agricultural settings. "This place is wonderful and the owners truly care and do a great job! The farm is beautiful and trails are a wonderful walk through some beautiful nature," explains James G. about his stay at B Berry Farms & Co..
What you should know
Seasonal cabin availability: Off-season cabin rentals have limited options with fewer amenities. "We stayed in campground one because it is the only one open during the off season... One negative is we only found one toilet for the entire campground. It wasn't a problem at this time because there was hardly anybody there," states Nathan P.
Cabin rental size limitations: Different properties accommodate varying group sizes. "The camp site had everything we needed including a fire pit, grill, picnic table, water spout and bath room nearby. We enjoyed picking black berries right next to our campsite to have with breakfast in the morning," according to Nick S.
Wi-Fi access varies significantly: Some cabin locations offer unexpected connectivity. "We were surprised when we found that there was Wi-Fi available for free at the campground," mentions Nathan P. about winter camping at Hidden Valley Outfitters.
Tips for camping with families
Kid-friendly cabin options: Multiple locations provide family-oriented amenities. "Great place to take the family. The roads are all paved so it made biking for our kids easy and enjoyable. The campsite was spacious and shaded. The kids loved playing in the creek and hiking the trails," shares Amanda R.
Cabin proximity to swimming areas: Families should check proximity to water access points. "The swim area is a canoe drop in for other companies. Luckily the water was up higher so we were able to use a shallow area... We had little kids so it didn't work out as well," warns Michelle T. about Coastal Country Resorts LLC.
Family recreation facilities: Some cabin rentals include additional recreational amenities. "This place is great for a family camping trip. Lots of activities. You can rent tubes, canoes, or rafts, and float down the river. You can float as long as 10 miles, or as few as 4 (maybe even less). There is a water slide that's so fun," explains Dasha D. about Mountain Creek Campground.
Tips from RVers
Off-season cabin access: Winter access to some cabins requires advanced planning. "You can make reservations online before going to ensure you have the spot you want. Campground one is in a flat spot down by the water and it is actually rather open and built for large rigs to fit in," explains Nathan P.
Large rig cabin parking limitations: Not all cabin sites accommodate larger vehicles. "The one site suitable for large RVs is not very level. We have a 40' Renegade Verona and it took 6 tries to find a place near the hookups where our auto-level would find a good position," notes Angela M.
Hookup configurations vary widely: Multiple cabin options provide varied utility setups. "Clean and well-maintained campground off the Niangua River. Sites are nice with a parking pad, picnic table, campfire ring with grill, and lantern post," reports Angela L. about Hidden Valley Outfitters.
