    Fish Lake Acres Campground

    Quiet, Lake Views

This campground is great especially when compared with state park camping. Full hookups available, quite a few pull through lots and close to the twin cities! No wifi, so make sure you've got decent cell service and hotspot if you need internet/wifi. Verizon gets ok coverage here, T-Mobile does too. Showers/bathhouses are clean and the hot water runs forever and not coin operated or push button like some others I've been to! Bonus! Good toilet paper in the bathrooms not the cheap stuff. The lake is literally out your door and they do have a small swimming beach and boat launch. MN Horse and Hunt club is about a mile or so up a trail access that is Almosy directly across from the camp entrance. There is an ATM there along with a bar and restaurant. Be prepared to hear gunshots regularly but it's not really bothersome unless you aren't prepared for it. The trail to the club is safe to walk though. The campground ONLY accepts cash so be sure to hit the ATM before you get here. They also charge $2 extra per dog if you have them. Nightly rate for the full hookup site I had was $32 with the dog. They charge .50 c per log for firewood. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. The staff are really nice and laid back. It's a really nice little campground!

    Ham Lake Resort

Well Rounded RV Park and Campground

My partner and I scheduled a 3 day / 2 night stay in a new Vintage Cruiser RV for $39.99, in exchange for attending a presentation on private membership.

We checked in Wednesday evening, and the nicest staff I've ever met helped us acclimate to RV living. We are new to this game. They patiently described how to utilize the grey and black water tanks, as well as encouraged us to check-out the canoes, row boats, bikes, horseshoes, ladder golf and many other entertainment items - for FREE!

The map provided was accurate which made locating the cruiser a breeze. There were further instructions inside as well. The RV was immaculate. Provided for our use were all linens (a public very clean bath and shower was just across the road), dish soap, dish towels, paper towels, flat wear, plates, bowls, mugs and pans.

The campground has a couple of ponds, as well as access to Ham Lake where the watercraft is launched. There is a petting arena with goats, ponies, and a llama who gave my partner the stink eye, but fell in love with me rubbing the fence and giving me all googly eyes!

The clubhouse sells bundled wood, ice, snacks, cold drinks, ice cream and provides 24-hour fresh coffee. There is also a small resupply area, and gift shop.

There are pull-through sites, back ups, 50 and 30 amp hook ups, and tent sites, covered pavilions, picnic tables and fire pits.

The campground itself seems remote, secluded and peaceful, however, you are conveniently located to two well-stocked convenience stores, as well as Wal-Mart about 15 minutes away. It's also only about 45 minutes from the Minnesota Twin Cities.

One note: We visited in August and needed gallons of bug spray.

We very much enjoyed our get away!

    Ann Lake

    Rustic & Family Friendly

This is a great little rustic campground within an hour's drive of the Twin Cities! It has several potable water sources throughout the campground, but no running water for toilets or showers. There are several vault toilets. Each campsite has a picnic table and a fire ring. You can buy firewood & ice at the Sand Dunes Stop gas station, just a 10 minutes drive away.

This is a first-come, first-served campground, so no reservations required. This does mean that there is a chance you won't be able to get a site, but I've only had that happen one time when I got there at 6pm on a Saturday. There are usually sites available.

I love going to this campground - it's family friendly, and there is a swimming beach a quick 3 minute drive away! The hiking trails aren't half bad, either! I love coming here to relax for a weekend, spend some time at the beach, and just enjoy nature. If you go in the early to mid summer, you'll also hear local whip-poor-wills serenade you to sleep.

Overall, 4 stars. The only downsides are no running water and no ice & firewood at the campground itself.

    Spirit of Ripley

    Small and family owned

Nice large grass pads, easily accessible for big rigs! Close to the lake(mom and I went for some bike rides around the lake) and public boat access. Each site had a picnic table and a fire ring provided. All sites have power, water, and sewer hook ups.

    Lebanon Hills Regional Park

    Friendly staff & quiet

Great location for easy access to mountain bike trails. Friendly staff. Clean facilities. Nice trail within the campground. Some sites are more shaded than others in the east loop so look at photos if you want shade. Sites that back up to the green space are very sunny. 87 is a great site! Plenty of space for a trailer or tent with a private “nook” for the fire pit.

    Lake Elmo County Park Reserve

    Great for the kiddos

For a County Park, Lake Elmo has an impressive list of amenities. Before we even get to the campsite let's mention the filtered swimming pond. This man made pond is a sandy bottom and surrounded by a nice sand beach. Large built in umbrellas are available for sun coverage and there is a concession stand and bathrooms with showers. And yes, as I mentioned the water is filtered! No gross goose poop or green algae to deal with! Next to the swim pond is a giant playground with fun for the big and little kids. Other amenities include archery, horse trails, paved and grass trails, camper spots, rustic spots and hike in camping spots. In winter the xc ski trails are lit for evening skiing. Or let's be honest early afternoon. It is Minnesota and the suns down by 4 In the Winter! They also have a newer Nordic center that's open all year round and includes a locker room with showers. The hike in camp spot we chose was on a small lake so it had a nice breeze and made it easy to bring a kayak or paddleboard and hop right in. There is also a boat launch for your larger toys! The trails in the park are quite impressive for its size. We enjoyed a 5 mile loop off the Nordic center and right past the camp spot. A picnic table and fire pit as well as nice flat tent pad were provided. If you're coming in from out of town then you're just a 5 minute drive from Woodbury and all the amenities you'd ever need but the park feels miles away from it all.

    Masonic West River Park

    Riverfront!!

Amazing campsite! Sites are large and grassy! We had a lakeview site right off the paved walking/biking trail with room for a large tent and the pop-up camper. Fire ring and picnic table provided. A man drives through the campsite close to dusk to sell firewood as there is no traditional office. Bathrooms and showers are located near the dump station and dumpster. Be on the lookout for the code for the doors during your reservation process. We had missed it and had to ask a neighbor if they knew the codes so we could shower.

Sites are close to each other, but easy access, clean grounds and facilities, friendly staff, and a K9 fenced area for a pet friendly campground.

Guide to Medina

Medina campgrounds offer varied terrain across Three Rivers Park District land at elevations around 950 feet above sea level. The camping season typically runs late April through October with average summer temperatures between 70-85°F. Most RV sites near Medina, Minnesota provide electrical hookups while shower facilities remain open throughout the camping season.

What to do

River activities: swimming and tubing: At Country Camping Tent & RV Park on the Rum River, water recreation stands out. "Great tubing and canoeing," notes Rory T. The sandy riverbed makes for ideal swimming conditions, as David G. points out: "Key thing is the river is very clean and sandy bottom."

Mini golf and yard games: Family recreation options abound at St. Cloud-Clearwater RV Park. "Pool & mini golf also available," mentions Shone, while S.L. adds that the park offers "shuffleboard, salt water pool, and a lobby/gift shop. They also offer a nice seating area for those hot or raining days with free arcade."

Wildlife observation: Baker Park Reserve features extensive walking paths ideal for birding. The park's diverse ecosystem supports numerous bird species throughout the camping season, making it popular among nature enthusiasts. Several miles of paved trails connect to nearby natural areas for extended wildlife viewing opportunities.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Campers consistently praise the maintenance standards at Baker Campground - Baker Park Reserve. "The bathroom/showers are great," writes Bryan S. Another camper adds, "The shower house was very clean and roomy and an easy walk from the camp sites." This regional park maintains high standards for all facilities.

Family-oriented activities: Many families appreciate the recreational options available. At Country Camping Tent & RV Park, Beasty B. shared: "I stayed here 3 weeks ago with my wife and 2 young children and it was fantastic great playground and heated pool the spaces were well kept and spaced apart 10-10 would most definitely go again! A ton for the kids to do!"

Spacious campsites: RV accommodations near Medina typically offer adequate spacing between sites. Spencer C. notes about Country Camping: "HUGE sites! You can either relax in the pool or even take a ride down the rum river in a rented canoe, tube, or kayak." At Baker Park Reserve, a reviewer mentions that "The sites are good sized, and the bathroom/showers are great."

What you should know

Reservation requirements: Most campgrounds within 30 miles of Medina require advance bookings, especially during summer weekends. Baker Park Reserve requires minimum two-night stays during peak season and often fills completely on summer weekends.

Varying noise levels: Some campgrounds maintain stricter quiet hours than others. Barbara B. reported at Country Camping: "I give it a 4 star only because twice I ran into the same group of people that thought it was ok to open up their vehicle doors and blast music well into the night. Owner warned them the first time but quiet time isn't until 11 pm."

WiFi limitations: Internet connectivity varies significantly at St. Cloud Campground & RV Park. One camper noted, "It was the worst wifi of about 15 campgrounds we've been to on our trip this year. They warned us it was slow, but we couldn't even connect to it from our site." Dave P. confirmed this issue: "Host stated that the wifi was weak but since there were not a lot of campers we should be alright. We were unable to even get a signal!"

Tips for camping with families

Check playground facilities: Multiple campgrounds offer child-friendly recreation areas. At Cokato Lake RV Resort Cooperative Association, Rachel H. describes "Inground, heated swimming pool; mini golf; pickleball; tennis; arcade room attached to the office. Ice cream shop has 8 flavors of hand-dipped yum!"

Consider swimming options: Not all campgrounds offer lake access. Teresa O. notes about St. Cloud-Clearwater RV Park: "We have a pop up so we parked on a grassy spot next to the cabins that backed up to a field. It was nice to be there instead of in the thick of the big camper section. Pool was nice and store too."

Plan for transportation between activities: Some campground amenities require crossing roads or walking significant distances. Regarding Cokato Lake RV Resort, one camper mentions: "Gotta cross a county road to get to lake." At Baker Park Reserve, a reviewer noted the fire ring placement at site C14 is "doing its own thing like 30 feet from the tent pad—felt like I needed a shuttle to roast a marshmallow."

Tips from RVers

Power capacity varies: For RV sites near Medina, Minnesota, electrical service ranges from basic to full hookups. At Love's RV Hookup-Rockville, Tori K. notes: "I love that Love's has RV spots that are big rig friendly! These are a great option for a stop halfway through a trip."

Consider site locations: Some RV parks have quieter sections away from main roads. At Dakotah Meadows RV Park, Michelle A. suggests being selective: "We would be willing to try the campground again, but would probably chose a site further from one of the main roads into Mystic Lake Casino. We heard a lot of traffic coming and going well into the wee hours of the night."

Check dump station access: All major RV parks in the area provide dump stations, but availability and convenience vary. St. Cloud Campground & RV Park maintains sanitary dump facilities throughout their operating season from May 1 to October 10. Tom D. advises when staying at Dakotah Meadows: "We have also stayed in the pull through sites, but not really a fan of those. Still, I would choose this park over others in the area for the access to 494 and 35W."
