    SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Regional Park and Rice Creek Campgrounds both accommodate pets, offering private and shady camping areas. Most campsites feature picnic tables, fire rings with cooking grates, and access to clean shower facilities. Each site provides good spacing between neighbors with mature trees offering privacy. The campground has multiple loops including a tent-only section (F Loop) with no generators allowed, ensuring a quiet experience for campers with pets. RV sites include electric hookups, water access, and sanitary dump stations. Both tent and RV campers report level sites with good tree cover providing shade during summer months. Campgrounds in the area typically require pets to remain leashed at all times while outside accommodations. The well-maintained tent sites at Rice Creek consistently receive positive mentions for their privacy and shade. Local campgrounds are searchable through The Dyrt's listings.

The extensive trail system around Rice Creek allows for pet exercise opportunities, including a paved path that circles the lake (approximately 3 miles) or connects all the way to Minneapolis for more adventurous hikers with dogs. Most camping areas feature easy access to water sources for pets, though swimming policies vary by location. The beach area at Rice Creek provides additional recreation options, though pets may have restricted access during peak swimming hours. Weather considerations include significant mosquito and horsefly activity during summer months, particularly in densely wooded campsites. Sites nearest to highways 35E and 35W experience consistent road noise, though many campers describe it as background white noise rather than disruptive. Seasonal availability varies by campground, with Rice Creek Chain of Lakes operating from May through September, while others like William O'Brien State Park remain open year-round.

      Riverside City Park

      Nice campground on the river.

This is a nice city campground with lovely views of the Rum River. There is a nice playground with a small climbing wall, benches to sit looking over the river. Picnic tables and a shelter are great for eating at. There is a dog park just across the river, within easy walking distance.

      Interstate State Park Campground

      Expeditions at Interstate!

This is a state park on the Wisconsin side of the St Croix River, which is mirrored by a comparable but smaller state park in Minnesota on the wrst side of the river, both being part of the wild and scenic St Croix National Waterway. Although the campsites themselves are pretty run of the mill, the setting is spectacular in terms of breathtaking scenery, and myriad outdoor activities from rock climbing in the river gorge, paddling the river, hiking miles of trails, and learning geology at the Ice Age geology visitors center. If you are tenting camping, the south loop is great, and if you pick campsite 65 or 67 you will have direct access to the river which is peaceful and good for paddle opportunities. There are picnic areas with swimming along the river which is nice for group gatherings, and one is designated for folks with pets. Some of the rugged hiking trails along the bluffs and cliffs go right along the edge with minimal guard rails or walls, so keep a close eye on kids and pets because going over the edge is a possibility so utmost caution is advised.

      Dakotah Meadows RV Park

      Quiet and safe

Small little campground next to large casino. We lucked out and were able to stay 2 nights without reservations….only had to move because they were fully booked for the 4th…large concert event happening across the street. You will need to call early in the day to talk to office staff…who are very friendly. If after hours and there are no spots, you can dry dock in large lot in front of office. There is fuel on site as well as RV wash station. Bath house and laundry and card controlled ($5 card deposit on check in)…well maintained facilities. Dog park available, watch a few spots in fence near bottom where fencing has risen up…little dogs could easily climb under. Very convenient for visiting Minneapolis…25/30 minutes from airport/Mall of America (Aquarium) and Security patrols regularly and there is shuttle if you want to visit casino. Pool at hotel is not included. Golf attraction is being completed next door so there was some construction traffic during day as expected.

      Tresure Island RV Park

      Crowded park, nice people

We were here for a night to see a concert at the amphitheater and everyone was super friendly. It was easy to check in, and we were able to do laundry and shower which was great. It’s mostly gravel but they have some tent sites on the grass. They are dog friendly and have some grassy areas to walk your pets which was great.

St Croix Casino and Hotel RV Park

      Amazing

Staying here currently & they have been very accommodating, friendly & flexible. Water & electric hookup but no sewer however there is a dump station, a bathhouse with real toilets & nice showers. Pretty quiet for being so close to the main highway. My cats are able to free roam the property & my dog can be tied up outside. Usually pretty nice neighbors too.

      Good Campground but Close Sites

Sites are close to each other, but easy access, clean grounds and facilities, friendly staff, and a K9 fenced area for a pet friendly campground.

    Guide to Lino Lakes

Rice Creek Campgrounds features level, private sites with ample spacing between campsites, creating a comfortable environment for both pets and their owners. Situated in the Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Regional Park, this pet-friendly destination offers tent sites, RV spots with electric hookups and water access, as well as cabin accommodations. The campground maintains clean restroom facilities and showers according to visitors, with firewood available for purchase on-site at $7 per bundle. Many campsites provide good shade coverage from mature trees, which helps keep pets cool during summer months. The park's layout provides enough distance between sites that barking dogs are less likely to disturb neighbors, though all pets must remain leashed throughout the campground. The spacious sites allow for adequate room to set up pet containment without encroaching on neighboring campers. Local campgrounds are searchable through The Dyrt's listings.

Nearby trails within the Rice Creek Chain of Lakes system provide excellent walking opportunities for dogs and their owners, with paved paths extending under green canopies toward the golf course. The park includes a beach area with tables, a pavilion, and changing rooms where pets can cool off after walks, though specific pet swimming areas may be designated. Visitors should prepare for seasonal insects, as several campers noted significant horsefly activity during summer months that can affect both humans and pets. The campground's proximity to the Twin Cities (about 30 minutes north) makes it convenient for weekend getaways with pets, allowing easy access to veterinary services if needed. The park's location also offers access to a larger trail system where ambitious visitors can bike all the way to Minneapolis, though dogs must remain leashed on all park trails regardless of distance traveled.
