Best Glamping near Pentwater, MI

My 1st experience with Tentrr convinced me that this is the way to have my own private oasis! Upon arrival at Pine Meadows, we followed the short red bark path through the trees to our cabin tent, which was next to a lovely meadow and near a small pond. Heidi, the property owner briefly stopped by to welcome us and assure us that she was available by text for any needs we might have- yet, Heidi said the property was ours for the duration, and we wouldn’t see her unless necessary. Wow! This was such a cool experience! We felt like we had our own personal pond, meadow, and cabin tent! The cabin tent comfortably sleeps three in regular mattresses. I believe there is a cot available. Nearby is a large tent that will sleep four more people. A picnic table and Adirondack chairs are next to the firepit. Heidi has many yard games available, such as cornhole and badminton, making this a great location for families. There is a spot among the pine trees with a large fairy display and little hide-aways for kids. Honesty, I can’t wait to bring my grandchildren to this! The nearby town, Interlochen, is minutes away and has a grocery store, a few restaurants, and a nationally famous music camp. Within driving distance is Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, which National Geographic rated as one of the best 21 beaches in the world. My hubby and I camp a lot, and in addition to the positives mentioned above, we truly LOVED NOT HAVING AN OVERLOADED CAR! We didn’t need to pack a tent, bedding(we paid the extra$10 for their bedding- totally worth it!); nor did we need a tent and chairs! We actually had room in the car this trip! Yes, Tentrr costs more than a regular campsite; however, you get the privacy and convenience of Glamping! Totally, worth it!

Campsite is located 2 miles from downtown Pentwater, adorable small town on the water. Mears state park is 2 miles from the campground as well, Lake Michigan beaches. The playground on the beach is perfect for younger kids. There is a pavilion that serves hot food and ice cream ( hot food ends at 5pm/ ice cream till sunset.) Our kids loved walking in town and heading to the beach.

With that said, there is plenty to do at the campground . Outdoor pool, AJs (putt- putt golf, arcade, playground, go-karts) extra fee for AJs but reasonable priced, basketball court, volleyball court, small baseball diamond, tennis table, general store, shower house by pool ( very clean), private bonfire pits ( most campsites).

Seasonal’s were very friendly and helpful with local things to do. RV camp, Tent camp, or tent cabin.

Dump station available, firewood for sale, ice for sale, general store has several camping items, 15 minutes away is meijer in ludington. 2 minutes away gas station 2 minutes to Lake Michigan beaches 2 minutes to Pentwater downtown shopping

A United Methodist Campground now open to the public instead of just for church camp, this is a nice location for families to enjoy some downtime, with access to Lake Michigan and plenty of activities available to pass the the time.

The sites vary in size but several can accommodate very large rigs. The whole place feels tucked away into the woods but you're only about a 10-minute drive from downtown Pentwater.

Short hike over the dunes (via stairway) takes you to Lake Michigan. (They have a great viewing platform for sunsets!)

Campground is getting regular updates each year, including a new 2-spot dump station (2 years ago), and new water and electric (50 amp) hookups at the sites continually being added.

They offer everything from RV and tent sites to platform tents and cabins. They have a great staff that cares about visitors enjoying their time there.

Cellular signals can vary greatly within the camp, but we found signals for Verizon and Google Fi (T-Mobile/Sprint) with decent service.

The campground is located next the beach near the town of Pentwater. The location is beautiful and sandy with easy access from the paved road. They have internet but quite slowly due to the fact that many are connected. The spaces are a bit tight and it is not very easy to back up from the narrow alleys if you have a big rig. All campsites are equipped with electricity only. Bathrooms and showers are located in the buildings in several places. The one on the beach is directly from the campground.

This was my first time ever tent camping! Normally I am a car camping person, but I decided to give a good old tent a try. I loved it!! This campground was absolutely amazing for me and my 2 best friends. As 3 women sleeping in a tent in the woods, we felt very very safe. The staff does drive by checks on everyone throughout the day and this not only helped us develop a relationship with the staff but also made us feel very safe. The campground was very well taken care of and clean. My friends and I enjoyed renting kayaks from the campground and paddling along bass lake. The staff was really the best part. Everyone we met was so happy, helpful, and really made our stay amazing. They would even bring your firewood to your campsite for you! The campsite store was so helpful and had everything we needed! Thank you to to the staff for making our trip calm and safe. We will definitely be back soon! I also highly recommend checking out Pentwater!

After a few days here we decided that we would try to come back every year. Meticulously clean campground. Wonderful pool. Lots of shade. There is plenty of activities for young and old alike. Mini golf, go carts, nice bike riding. The spaces are big enough and level. Pull throughs as well back in. There are seasonal resident here that keep very nice spaces. Lots of trees and reasonable privacy. I witnessed a crew cleaning a vacated camp site before the camper got out of the gate, time and time again. The little town of Pentwater is close by. It is a neat place with shops and treats as well as art and a fancy grocery store. Plan to spend a day strolling the sidewalks there. All in all we are very impressed with this family operation. We truly look forward to coming back. Update: August 2019 We came back and still love it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Friendly, clean, great pool, fun activities. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Went back in August 2020, had the same fantastic experience. COVID safety was observed by both the staff and nearly all the other campers. We stayed out of town, only went to the local beach where again social distancing was good. There is plenty to do here so we didn’t miss going to town that much. We will be there again this August 2021, 4th year in what we plan to be many years.

This campground used to be one of our favorites but it seems things have changed a little since the last time we’ve been here. It’s still a nice campground but there were a few things we weren’t happy with. Let’s start with the pros though. The bathrooms are very clean, they have a heated pool, there is an AJ’s family fun center out front, it’s close to downtown Pentwater and the beach, and they have some nice merchandise in the camp store. Now the cons. There were absolutely no activities going on at the campground and it was Memorial weekend. Having camp activities is standard at most campgrounds and something our kids enjoy. I was very surprised by this. Another con is some of the camp sites were very overgrown . The grass on our site was about a foot long. I don’t think it have been mowed all year. The WiFi in the park was also very spotty. And finally they are extremely strict on their visitor policy. We had some friends show up that were camping near by. They wanted to check out our campsite to see if it was someplace they’d like to camp down the road. The office wouldn’t let them in unless they paid $5 per person which would of cost them $30. I tried to explain to them they weren’t staying more than a few minutes but it didn’t matter they wouldn’t allow it. Overall we had a good weekend but not sure if we’ll be back any time soon.

This campground easily has the best beach I have ever been to in Michigan.

It’s vast, has plenty of space and parking. The sand is always pure without straw or trash. There is a playground nearby and a very unique river running out to Lake Michigan. I witnessed a proposal the last time I was camping in the area. Family friendly, and serves great ice cream at its beach store.

Could use a few more volleyball courts but overall it’s fantastic.

Only major concern is the horse flies near the river running into Lake Michigan. The dunes nearby have hordes of flies that bite. Be warned! Haha.

Clean park with beautiful views of Lake Michigan. Unfortunately no access to beach because of erosion. Typical site sizes for Michigan State Park. Walk across the road for a 2 mile hike in the woods.

I have camped here many times over my lifetime. It is a great family campground, close to Lake Michigan and within driving distance to North Muskegon and Whitehall. Lovely camping in the pines within walking distance to Lake Michigan.

Clean...updated...longest continually operating campground in Michigan

Nice campground, very close to Ludington and Lake Michigan Beaches. Well maintained and friendly staff too.

Having never been to Michigan before, this campground shows how beautiful the state is. The campground was lovely and beautiful. Other campers were respectful and even after leaving my IPhone in the restroom someone actually turned it in. You can ride bikes, you can kayak, you can walk some trails, float down a river, or go to Lake Michigan. Restrooms were nice. There are also sand dunes and a lighthouse within walking distance of campground. If it wasn’t so cold there in the winter, it would be my ideal place to live.

There are two campgrounds in the park - The Channel Campground & the Lake Michigan campground. We stayed at the Channel Campground two years ago. It's right on the channel from Muskegon Lake to Lake Michigan, so you have walking access to both lakes. The campsites were VERY close together. It was actually the first thing we noticed as soon as we pulled through the gate. Campsites have a paved parking pad, fire ring, electrical hookup, and picnic table. Restroom & shower facilities were relatively clean & well maintained. You'll probably have to wait for the showers, but that's pretty typical.

Overall, the campground was just average. If you don't like being close to your neighbors, I'd recommend staying at the Lake Michigan campground in the same park. Larger sites & tons of shade.

Quiet close to Lake Michigan and great hiking

This is one of my favorite campgrounds! Full service with bathrooms, showers and camp store. You have easy access to Lake Hamlin and Lake Michigan for great swimming. Float down the creek to Lake Michigan or go hiking to the light house. There is so much to do here and it has easy access to Ludington for groceries or restaurants. It is a large campground and not a lot of privacy. We prefer the loop closest to Lake Hamlin. The walk in sites are also great for a backpacking light experience but they are truly walk-in by about 1 mile.

This is one of my favorite State Parks’s in Michigan. Lots to see and do! Can’t wait to go back there!!
