    Rutherford Beach Dispersed Camping

    Simple and easy

Apple Maps took me to the wrong place but Google maps took me exactly where I needed to be. If you see the sign for Rutherford beach “left” and Apple Maps tells you to keep going straight, just turn left and start following the signs. 2Wd accessible as long as you avoid some small pockets of soft sand. The mosquitoes mentioned in other reviews are not an issue when it’s 40 degrees and windy! Lol Also, this location is very far from most grocery stores and gas stations (about 30-45mins) so plan accordingly. Cops will roll through once or twice a day just to check on people.

overall good place to set up. There were some controlled burns in the area so a little smoky. There are porta-johns at the entrance.

    Out of the way gem

This place is way out of the way you're going to be 45 minutes from the nearest Walmart. Cell phone service when it's working is good although there were two outages in the week I was there. There does not seem to be a time limit for staying, if there is it's not enforced. Plenty of spots along the ocean there's even two rows of compacted sand for a lot of it. Speaking of sand it will get everywhere in your camper. I was there beginning of February and the mosquitoes are relentless. Bring bug spray make sure it's got deet. Everyone I met there was very nice.

Nice RV park close to sports complex

We visited for a softball tournament and the location is perfect, less than a mile from the complex. The park was well kept. There is a small fishing pond so bring a pole. My husband caught a bass. It was stocked with perch as well. The owner was friendly and very appreciative of our business. Would definitely stay again if we are in the area. Verizon and AT&T cell service worked well.

    Great Find

Our RV GPS and Waze took us right to White Oak Park. We went directly to pull through site 6 with FHUs. All sites are pull-throughs and the 3 FHUs nearest the bathhouse have long pads(easily fit our 40” 5th wheel and F450 plus are more spacious than their 5 water and electric sites. All the sites have a really nice stand-up barbecue and their own trash can. Water pressure was good at 50 psi and we had no issues with utilities. There are some trees, but we were able to get a north sky shot for Starlink. We got 2 bars on Verizon. There’s a playground and a boat ramp into the river not far away. Right about dusk when the mosquitos started coming out, a spray truck came in, which was nice. The campground (CG) host who lives in the Thibodeau house across from site 6, came by to get one of our driver’s license numbers as check-in. Two roosters were running around the CG that started crowing at about 3:00 AM. Our Riley friends had suggested this quaint little 8-site CG and we wished we had stayed more than just overnight in this quaint little city park.

    beach camping

Great spot to pull over your car to park on the sand. Lots of other RVs but not crowded and theres a long stretch of hard packed sand that i was able to access without a truck or RV. More people showed up around 5 but stayed a bit and left. Quiet night and morning.

anyone I talked to was friendly but reiterated it wasn't safe to swim, kind of disappointing but oh well.

One review here mentioned mosquitoes and its true, spent about an hour before bed slapping myself silly from all the ones that had gotten inside.

overall really easy place to pull up to, really pretty.

    Mosquitos ruin it

The views are alright and it’s nice to have free beach access and a few amenities but I have never seen such thick clouds of mosquitos in my life. Made the grave mistake of opening the van door at night and spent the next TWO DAYS hunting down hundreds of mosquitos in our van from those two seconds. It was a nightmare.

    Not a quiet place

This is our second stop here. The first was in late December several years ago. This time is early spring. It’s an older campground, and shows wear. This isn’t a quiet campground. It is right next to the interstate, there is light industry around, and trains. Noise all night long! Some sites have cracked pads. Some of the equipment doesn’t work. Sites are too close together (maybe 10 feet apart) and the neighbor’s sewer hook up was next to our picnic table. Just plain unsanitary! But it is ok for a stop for a night or 2. Playground for the kids looked nice. Small pool but not opened in late February. They have a lake for fishing and boating but didn’t see anyone doing either during our stay. This is Cajun country. Walking distance to Billy’s Cajun market for great boudin balls and alligator pies.

Nice park. Lanes are labeled clearly, so our spot was super easy to find after hrs. Clean and spacious pull-thru. Heated pool. Nice folks run the park. Pretty quiet even though it's right off the I10.

Best RV Campground in the area

We were only here on a two-day stint to visit a friend as we were heading back home. The staff was great, and the campground was newish and very well maintained. It is also known as A+ Motel and RV Park. Has 2 pools (1 adult pool with a jacuzzi). 15-minute drive to Lake Charles.

    Relaxing

We chose Hidden Pines for our first trip with new travel trailer due to close to home. Not a lot of campers due to expected heavy rainfall. It did rain, but only one night so had relaxing time outdoors during daytime. Very impressed with Campground - no puddles or standing water with the amount of rain received. The sites are well planned. Staff and family members were extremely nice and offered any help. Will plan more trips to Hidden Pines!

    Perfect I-10 / I-49 stop

We do not like to get too far off of our route. Bayou Wilderness is 4.5 miles from I-49 just north of I-10. The park is exceptionally well maintained. The pool is nice and there is a playground next to the pool. The Laundry/Bath House is clean and the bathrooms are modern. There are three separate bathrooms with a toilet and a shower. The laundry has 6 washers ($2.00) and 6 working dryers ($2.50). This is an excellent overnight stay with FHU. It is worth it. I I travel south again I would plan this stop on my route.

    Surprisingly Nice

Small little area on the river with nice pull through sites and some additional parking. We just needed a place to park the van for the night and it stormed one of the worsts nights we have stayed out in . 2 bath houses , cleanish . Boat ramp access to the river . If you find Gloria’s Kitchen she will cook you whatever you want .. would stay here again , not far off I-10

    Boondocking on the Gulf coast.

Our trailer has narrow tires that are hard to pull on most beaches. The sand here packs well and supports our camper. You will need to be self contained. No hookups here. There are port-a-potties and sometimes food trucks on weekends.

    Nice spot to camp

The sand is packed hard enough to pull a trailer right onto the beach. Plenty of room and there are dumpsters, an outside shower and a water spigot. The kids loved fishing right from camp.

    Wonderful place to stop!

My wife and are traveling for work and found this gem off the highway. Mr. Jason is incredibly communicative and helpful. There are plenty of shaded spots and windbreaks from all directions. The bathrooms are clean and the showers are hot. The picnic area has plenty of seating and shade to enjoy those relaxing days.
