Best RV Parks & Resorts near Tampa, FL

Tampa area RV resorts offer varying levels of hookup amenities, from basic to full-service options with 50-amp electrical connections. Encore Winter Quarters Pasco RV Resort in Lutz provides big-rig-friendly sites with water, sewer, and electrical hookups year-round. Key Lime Bay RV Resort features perfectly level paver pads with landscaping and full hookups, while Lazydays RV Resort in Seffner includes market access along with standard utilities. Terra Ceia RV Resort provides waterfront opportunities with spacious sites that accommodate larger motorhome units. Site configurations vary significantly between parks, with pull-through options at some locations and back-in sites at others. "The sites are a bit small, especially for a larger RV like ours. It felt a little tight maneuvering into the spot, but we managed fine."

Many Tampa area RV parks remain open year-round, allowing for extended winter stays when northern regions become inhospitable. Advance reservations are strongly recommended during peak winter months when snowbirds migrate south. Most parks offer sanitary dump stations and trash service, though quality and cleanliness vary by location. Cell service ranges from excellent to spotty depending on proximity to urban areas, with parks closer to Tampa generally providing better connectivity. A review mentioned that "AT&T coverage was pretty good, with 3-4 bars of 5G service and speeds up to 11 MB/s." Pet policies differ between facilities, with most allowing dogs but enforcing leash requirements and providing designated pet areas. Several parks include additional amenities such as swimming pools, hot tubs, laundry facilities, and social gathering spaces for longer-term guests.

    LeLynn RV Resort

Lakefront RV Pitstop Stone's Throw From I4

Located just 45 minutes SW of the Magical Kingdom conveniently resting just a stone’s throw from I4, LeLynn RV Resort is a spacious, pet-friendly property that is definitely more geared for the RV driving or 5th wheel toting crowd. Surrounded by lakes in every direction – Little Lake Agnes sits directly west of the property, with its bigger sister Lake Agnes just further northwest, Lake Tennessee to the southwest, Lake Juliana to the south and Lake Mattie to the southeast, while Lake Helene can be found to the north and a smaller unnamed lake due east a smidge.  If you were surrounded by any more water, you'd be starring opposite Kevin Costner in 'Waterworld!'

While LeLynn RV Resort will accommodate you for about as long as you’d like, this place impressed upon me more of a layover than an actual destination. The community that we discovered here was incredibly friendly and inviting, but nearly everyone we met was enroute to some other, better place in the great Sunshine state ... and quite a few folks look like they have no business moving from this place any time soon. This RV depot somewhat lives up to its name as a resort as it does offer an inground pool that is lake facing (again, not that challenging to do here in Central Florida) along with decent (not excellent) restrooms & shower facilities, laundry-O-mat, boat ramp, metered LP gas, dump station, shuffleboard and horseshoes along with WiFi and cable TV options. If you desire kayaking, canoeing or fishing, you need only access the nearest lake of your choosing. There’s 220 sites with FHU’s offering 30 / 50 amp electric, water and sewage.

Insider’s tips? Here’s a handful: (1) IMHO the best sites are those that are lakefront on the property’s northwestern most perimeter; (2) While the parking accommodations are concrete pads that will provide a nice level plain for the stay along with a solid accompanying patio, there’s virtually no trees and hence shade anywhere on the property, so while that might not matter for a single night, if staying longer, you’ll likely want to bring your own shade with you; (3) Should you need to load up on supplies while on your trip, just due south of LeLynn RV Resort is a Publix that will cater to all of your grocery needs; and (4) While you’ll feel like you’re out in the boondocks in these parts (and trust me, you are), there’s a number of great little eateries like The Back Porch, Frescos Southern Kitchen, Purple Pit Stop, Polk City BBQ Co., Savage Tacos and Old Man Frank’s to choose from.

    Happy Camping!

    Plantation Oaks

    Basic mobile home/RV park

We stayed there during the Tampa Show. Last minute decision. Park has a lot of long term RV's and many of them older. Dog friendly and has a decent sized dog run. We had a pull thru spot that was plenty long enough to leave our dolly hooked up to our 33' class A, and still have plenty of room to park in front. Although it was very narrow and I was a little concerned about my leveling jacks sinking in when it rained due to it being all grass. Fortunately it didn't rain much. There were cable hook ups, but I couldn't get a signal. Not sure about wifi, because I just used my hot spot. Most, if not all, of the short term spaces had picknick tables. Overall just a fairly quiet place to park with hookups and not too far off the highway.

    Edward Medard Park

    Gem of the County

What a beautiful well kept facility near suburbia. Just a short drive from Tampa and Lakeland areas this first come first served facility is a favorite of locals. Full service for RV's (even a dump station. Clean, monitored bathroom facilities close to lots of additional activities! Kayaking and fishing on the lake is a blast! Frisbee Golf (this is an advanced course) equestrian and hiking trails, picnic and playground areas. Pet friendly but there were more than a few stray cats when we were there (a problem the rangers are trying to address). Midweek is best time to visit as weekends fill fast (usually by Thursday night)

Camp Margaritaville RV Resort and Cabana Cabins Auburndale

    Just okay

First, this is a really nice RV campground. It's new and has some nice amenities. That being said, I don't think full timers like us are their audience. Pros- nice big pull through sites, nice dog park, food trucks on weekend nights(at least while we were there), and a bar on site. Cons- it's very loud, not really close to any attractions, wifi was fast but frequently went out, highway noise, incessant loud construction noise every single weekday, you have to wear these bright green hospital type bracelets on the property, they charge$10 a visitor even if they are just going to your campsite to hang out and not use the amenities, they say they are family friendly but are okay with offensive political flags being flown. They played loud country music during the day most of the weekdays we were there. One day they started before 9 am. On Friday night, the music from the tiki bar area was so loud that we couldn't hear the movie we were trying to watch in our trailer with the windows up. It was the same the next night with a live band. I think this place is nice if you are looking for a place to party on the weekend, but not a relaxing resort like they advertise. For the price I paid I expect to not have construction noise every day. We likely won't be back. We camped at Cabana Club RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

    Horseshoe Cove RV Resort

    Great short or long stay

I live local and have been staying here in the pull through area a month until I transition to 100% travel trailer life. I have 2 50 lb+ dogs and there are many other people with dogs, plus a dog park. Park is very well kept, beautiful gym, pool, hot tub, and private island on backside to fish and other games like horseshoes. Love this place! Maintenance is A M A Z I N G!!!!!!!! I will be staying here again for short and extended periods and feel more than comfortable to recommend to friends and family. Laundry facilities and bathrooms are fine too. Dryers dry a full load of towels in one cycle, was pretty impressive! Also plenty of area to ride a bike a couple times around the park. It is also close to gas, grocery store and really good restaurants. Two thumbs up!!!

    Hickory Point RV Park

Nice, quiet, well maintained, friendly, wooded CG on the water

We have a 36 ft Class A with a Cherokee Trailhawk tow and stayed in site 132 for 3 days in mid April. The CG is very clean, well maintained, but relatively expensive. The CG is a mixture of long-term and transient folks. The roads are paved, but the sites are sandy, shelly gravel. The staff is friendly and very helpful. They have beach chairs near the water and a fire pit that they lit every evening near sunset. In addition to the Bark Park area, there is a nice wooded area where you can walk your dog as well.

AT&T coverage was pretty good, with 3-4 bars of 5G service and speeds up to 11 MB/s. The CG has a lot of trees, but the sites in the front of the park are pretty open. We had no line-of-site to the DISH satellites, but did have an open view north, so Starlink usable, but the CG had WiFi and we were right across from the antenna, so we didn’t use Starlink. The CG WiFi achieved speeds up to 8 MB/s.

    Colt Creek State Park Campground

    Very Nice Campground

This campground is obviously quite new.  Spacious and open sites that are very big rig friendly.  Pads are L-shaped to accommodate the picnic table, yet because of the spacioiusness there's room to pitch a screen tent in the grass.

The demerits for us were (1) laundry is coin op only (no credit card), surprising for such a new park; and (2) no plastic bag dispenseries for dog clean up.  Such amenities are nice for extended stays.

    Plantation Oaks

    Nice peaceful place

It’s a great basic park. It does have a nice size dog run and very pet friendly as long as you pick up afterwards. The office manager Christina along with Melisa the maintenance manager has been nothing but fantastic since day one. After spending a few months here it seems to be a safe friendly environment.. I highly recommend it, it’s close to shopping and some good restaurants yet it’s not in the middle of the hustle.

Guide to Tampa

Tampa RV parks sit near the Gulf of Mexico with proximity to urban attractions and natural areas. Most camping options maintain year-round operations with temperatures ranging from 52°F in winter to 90°F in summer. Cell service varies across the region, with coastal areas sometimes experiencing signal limitations during storm systems.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: The pond at Encore Winter Quarters Manatee offers on-site angling without leaving the campground. "There are nice bass in the ponds," mentions Derick B., who found the fishing productive during an extended stay.

Beach access: Many RV parks serve as convenient basecamps for Gulf Coast beach exploration. Caladesi RV Park positions campers within minutes of shorelines. "The beach is a 5 minute drive and pet friendly! The Pinellas bike trail is also located right behind the park and easy to get on," notes Diana M.

Biking trails: The Pinellas Trail system connects multiple camping areas with paved routes suitable for casual riders and serious cyclists. "The bike trail is right behind the park and has beautiful scenery," according to Gina D., highlighting the accessible recreation options from multiple Tampa-area campgrounds.

What campers like

Pool facilities: Swimming pools rank among the most appreciated amenities at Tampa-area RV parks, particularly during warmer months. "The pool is heated and screened in," Michael M. points out about Lazydays RV Resort, a feature that extends swimming seasons beyond summer months.

Location convenience: Tampa RV parks offer strategic positioning for regional exploration. "Great location just outside Tampa, FL. Wonderful facilities and friendly staff," explains Roy S., noting the easy access to highways and attractions from many campgrounds.

Restaurant access: On-site dining options provide convenience for longer-term stays. "There is a great lil restaurant inside the club house area," reports Michael M. about Lazydays facilities, allowing campers to enjoy meals without cooking or driving to restaurants.

What you should know

Highway noise concerns: Interstate proximity affects sound levels at some parks. "You are a block off of I4 and 100 yards from a Flying J and TA gas station, if you are looking for quiet and serenity this is not the place," explains a camper about one location, while Encore Winter Quarters Manatee experiences "noise of the interstate is non-stop" according to Millie D.

Age demographics: Many Tampa RV parks maintain primarily retirement-focused communities. "I wish I had known that this was mainly a retirement community. Always being stared at by the live in community and just felt unwelcome," reports Ryan D. about his stay with younger family members.

Site sizing variation: Some parks struggle to accommodate larger modern RVs. "I have a very difficult time parking my 37' foot travel trailer. If someone is parked across from you, you basically are stuck," notes a reviewer about tight spacing and maneuverability challenges.

Tips for camping with families

Pool selection: Choose parks with family-friendly pool policies when traveling with children. At Encore Terra Ceia, "They have a nice pool and laundry facilities" as noted by Danna D., providing recreational options for families.

Pet accommodation: Most Tampa RV parks welcome pets but enforce specific rules. "They also have a nice size, fenced-in dog park with a dog walking path, so bring your furry friends!" shares Danna D. about Terra Ceia's facilities for four-legged family members.

Activity options: Some parks offer scheduled programming particularly valuable during extended stays. "Very friendly staff with lots of things scheduled for guest," notes Ray P. about one resort, highlighting organized activities that keep families engaged.

Tips from RVers

Arrival timing: Schedule park arrivals during daylight hours when possible. "Be careful entering the park. Very sharp turns," warns Ray P. about Encore Vacation Village, emphasizing navigational challenges that become more difficult after dark.

Site selection strategies: Request sites away from ponds during certain seasons if bugs are a concern. "This is a mosquito heaven!!! Being bug spray or candles! You will see a large amount of bugs in your area," cautions Julia Marie H. about potential insect issues near water features.

Internet considerations: Prepare alternative connectivity solutions as WiFi varies substantially between parks. "We had no internet, and used our phones for Hot Spot," reports Edwin V., indicating the need for backup plans when digital access matters.

Leveling preparation: Pack additional leveling blocks for some parks with uneven sites. "Site has dirt & mud & is uneven," notes Jeannine D. about Encore Barrington Hills, suggesting that self-sufficient leveling equipment improves setup experiences.
