ScoutJohn M. nailed it. Road is severely damaged. Massive holes and at maximum speed you can go 5mph. Very cool spot and you will be completely alone. Be aware of wildlife as we had a couple moose in the area. They do not play games and we had to stop setting up camp because a bull approached. Cool spot but the road is absolutely wild.
TravelerIt’s just off i70, so the road noise is constant. It’s small and spots are randomly sized and developed. Some have fire rings some do now. Two sites along the river are big enough for 40’ rigs, but not the tow/toad. The outer sites are very awkward for anything over 30’. You’ll need extra leveling block for most of them. $20 a night as of 8/8/26. 7 day stay limit, but I’m not sure you really need to stay here that long when there are more campgrounds off the highway.

TravelerWe stayed at site 12. There was space for our two pickup trucks. The parking spot is level with the road and the tent & table site is up a short set of stairs.
The site is described as an RV site for up to 30 ft. If you have a trailer than 30 ft is the max of trailer & vehicle combined - or detach the trailer and then there is only space for one vehicle beside the trailer (other sites have wider or longer parking).
We took our camp chairs up to the ridge above the campsite and enjoyed the fabulous views of mountains and the lake.
There's an extra charge of $1. to park down by the water. Great fun boating on the water - and there's a place renting canoes and kayaks.

ScoutPlenty of campsites available just pass the trail markers for Mount Flora and Mill Creek Ridge Trail. We went on a Saturday night in mid-August and there were two other groups present, and half a dozen available spots. The lake was beautiful after some summer rain and hail cleared up.
The drive up to the lake on the forrest service road is legit 4x4 / OHV only. Lifted Land Cruiser on 32" tires made it fine, but there are lots of spots where you need to tread carefully. It was a slow going 45mins to 1hr from the turn-off in Empire.
