    Sonoran Desert RV Park

    Well maintained and very friendly

Important: If you plan to arrive after hours you must call ahead so you can get the gate code. They gave us a temporary spot that was pull thru due to the time of our late arrival. Then at noon they escorted us to our site to set up for the duration of our visit. I included an images of daily, weekly, and monthly rates for 2023 and full list of amenities and the winter activities. There are also deluxe sites available. This camp ground is pet friendly with a dog park area and offered daily planned activities. We participated in game night, line dancing classes, aquatic aerobics in the heated pool, and the New Years party. The showers are very clean and the laundry room was immaculate. The sites have full hook up 30/50 amp and sites up to 100'x55'. They offer propane services. There isn't anything to do in the town.

    Sonoran Desert RV Park

    Great Experience

Our RV GPS and Waze took us right to this very nice campground(CG). Check-in was quick, and we were escorted to back-in site 503 with FHUs. The sites here are long and wide enough for our 40’ fifth wheel and F450 truck. The sites in our area were also decently spaced for a private CG. There was also room for an OHV if we’d brought one. The guest WiFi works pretty well with a download of 6.73 and an upload of.92. Water pressure was good at 50 psi, and we got 4 bars on Verizon. There are a few trees in the CG, but we had a clear shot of the northern sky for Starlink. They also have cable, but we didn’t use it. They had a very nice 4000 sq ft, sectioned-off dog park with two of the areas/corrals having grass. Behind the show/laundry/pool facility is where you drop off your propane tank for fills. They do not have a propane service that comes to the site. We were also impressed with their PETHouse sites where you have a private dog run. Their laundry facility was larger than most CGs of this size and it was very clean. There’s also a wash pad where you can wash your OHV or truck. Gilla Bend has a Family Dollar and a couple of small grocery stores plus eating establishments. You’re about 30 minutes from major amenities in Buckeye and an hour from Phoenix. We stayed here with friends for 4 nights and enjoyed ourselves.

    North Ranch

    Good for One Night

North Ranch is an Escapees RV park with large gravel lot and closely spaced sites. Full hook up with only 30 amp available. There is also another area for dry camping. This is a good place if just passing through and need to do some laundry and dump and fill and take a nice long shower. The sites are fairly close as most RV parks are, clean flat gravel sites. Nothing special but nothing much to complain about either.

Road noise was constant as was ATV use as many of the campers had them. Covid restrictions in place and a mask is required.

    Amenities:

2 laundry areas with washer dryers for$1.25/each open 24/7

Dog walk and fenced in dog park near the main road

Showers Cactus garden walking area- very beautiful and well care for

    Propane on site

    Recycling bin- mixed recycling accepted

    Garbage dumpster

Dump station(was closed when we were there)

    Exercise room

Back in sites are$23 for escapee members and$28 for non members. Pull through sites are a few dollars more.

Weak Verizon and AT&T with occasional streaming if you don’t mind waiting for buffering.

    Leaf Verde RV Resort

    Clean RV park

Easy to get to from the 10 freeway, good sized RV park w decent sized sites, park is kept clean, pool, Pickleball courts, cornhole area, dog park, huge laundry room, and the people are nice. Regular pull through spots are kind of like buddy spots as your doors face each other. Back in and deluxe sites are decent sized. Roadways are asphalt and large enough to maneuver bigger rigs through. All sites are full hook up w 30 & 50 amp electrical.

    Budget RV Park

Now called Sundance West RV Resort

I think if you're  looking for a place to winter, this is a good Campground.

Pros: Very clean, nicely landscaped for AZ, staff friendly, good grocery & dining options nearby. Lots of OTA channels, pool, corn hole, laundry, dog park, activities  etc.

Cons: pull through was long, but not quite level, WIFI does not reach the pull through sights in the back at all .... and they know it. Couldn't figure out how to hook to their cable. Permit to wash your rig $10 for the season.

Guess that should have been our first clue... they have a season. Sort of winter camp for snowbirds. If that is what you are looking for, it is very nice.

We were in the area to visit friends, dump/pump/resupply after boondocking, and do Taxes. Not having wifi was kind of a big deal for us. Being told we'd have to use the internet in the clubhouse wasn't  going to cut it. Who wants to drag all their personal financial information to a common area?

Normally  it would not have been a big deal, we do have a Hotspot, but at $431 weekly rate, $80 nightly, in this day & age, routers for wifi to the whole park should be a given.

Otherwise we did enjoy our stay here, and met some great people.

    Sonoran Desert RV Park

Very nice spread out park to relax for the night

We stayed here one night and would recommend it for anyone wanting to enjoy the night skies, having some distance between RV pull in's, and relax while driving cross country.

The staff was welcoming and showed us to our sites and ensured we hooked up with no issues.  Then, let us enjoy the night.

The dog run was great and well maintained.  We thought he pet rock cemetery was touching (passed on pets have rocks with their names on them laid out in a small memorial).

We had a pull through full hook up site.  The site was required minor leveling, but no need to unhook. Wifi worked great.  There was road and rail noise though.

We are not sure if there are really any local attractions.

Old Airstrip Camping & Staging Area

    Free and Beautiful!

We have a 4WD truck, so we were able to get past most of the RVs and toy haulers, but they all seemed like family friendly people! The burros are no joke! You can hear and see them all around you. We also heard a few coyotes right after dusk which was cool. We had our two dogs with us and just kept them on the leash so we had no negative cactus experiences... Overall, a really cool place to be even if you don’t have an OHV. We got in around 6PM and were able to find a secluded spot with a fire ring already there, no problem.

    White Tank Mountain

    Peaceful retreat

This park is so close to town, but far enough to get some quiet night sky! There are standard campsites and a more primitive camping area. The Willow Canyon site is big enough for a full length Sprinter, though the office says 16’ is the length limit.

Lots of trails for hiking, biking and horses. Brand new showers, restrooms and a dishwashing area. Dogs allowed too!

I’m on Verizon and only got a single bar in the park. The library is near the entrance if you need to get your WiFi fix!

    McDowell Mountain Regional Park

    Great sites with great views!

Very quiet! Lots of hiking and bike riding trails with a bike course! Playground. Pet friendly. Very clean and friendly hosts. Close to fountain hills if you need anything in town. Close to town but very much felt like you where away on vacation no hustle bustle in the desert! The views where fantastic. Sites where clean and spacious a lot of space between each site for privacy! Will definitely be back!

Guide to Litchfield Park

RV parks near Litchfield Park, Arizona tend to operate year-round with high occupancy from November through March when winter visitors arrive from northern states. Located in the western Phoenix metropolitan area at approximately 1,030 feet elevation, Litchfield Park experiences daytime summer temperatures frequently exceeding 110°F while winter months maintain comfortable 65-75°F ranges. RV campgrounds in this region typically feature gravel sites with varying degrees of shade and proximity to recreation.

What to do

Golfing access: Many RV parks around Litchfield Park provide convenient access to nearby golf courses. Pueblo El Mirage RV Resort features an on-site 18-hole golf course with a bar and grill. As one camper notes, "This is a self described 5 star RV long stay park. It has Almost every amenity you can think of. The park is slowly being converted to all homes. 18 hole golf course on site and a bar and grill."

Water recreation: Lake Pleasant, located 30 minutes north of Litchfield Park, offers boating, fishing, and swimming opportunities. Pleasant Harbor RV Resort provides multiple camping options with lake access. A reviewer shares, "There are several different RV/Camping options at Pleasant Harbor Marina / RV Resort. 1) In the resort with Full Hookups, 2) Out on the 'flat' with just water and power (dump station on site), 3) Out on the 'flat' with no hookups."

Hiking opportunities: The White Tank Mountain Regional Park sits just 15 minutes west of Litchfield Park with trails ranging from easy 0.5-mile loops to challenging 7.9-mile summit routes. Campers from Cotton Lane RV Resort mention the convenient location, with one noting it's a "Short drive to White Tanks, Superstition Mountain, Mystery Castle, Lake Pleasant, Phoenix Historical District."

What campers like

Pool facilities: Swimming pools are highly valued amenities during hot months. At Leaf Verde RV Resort, a camper mentioned, "The pool is refreshing and if you aren't into swimming there is a pool table, dog park and shuffle board to keep you busy. The sites are gravel and close together but nice."

Laundry amenities: Clean, spacious laundry facilities are frequently mentioned as important amenities. One visitor to Leaf Verde RV Resort stated, "Although the sites are a bit close to each other than we prefer, the amenities were very well taken care of. The laundry facility was one of the nicest we've ever used!"

Pickleball courts: Many RV parks in the area feature pickleball courts for active residents. A reviewer at Leaf Verde RV Resort highlighted, "Easy to get to from the 10 freeway, good sized RV park w decent sized sites, park is kept clean, pool, Pickleball courts, cornhole area, dog park, huge laundry room, and the people are nice."

What you should know

Age restrictions: Many RV parks around Litchfield Park enforce age limitations. Sunflower RV Resort has specific requirements, with one camper noting, "55 and older resort. Not sure how to rate it, but it should be listed somewhere that it's not family friendly."

Site spacing: RV campsites in this region tend to have limited separation between units. At Cotton Lane RV Resort, a reviewer observed, "Park is easy to find, very clean and well kept. Lots of mobile homes with an area for rv's. Sights are very tight and very close together. Slides almost touch one another."

Breed restrictions: Some RV parks maintain strict pet policies regarding dog breeds. Cotton Lane RV Resort is particularly strict, as one frustrated camper reported, "We were told we could not have a reservation because our dog was 'mixed'. We were actually going to drop the dog off with family in Phoenix, but were told if we even enter the gates with the dog in our truck they would cancel our reservation."

Tips for camping with families

Look for non-age-restricted parks: Many RV parks near Litchfield Park enforce 55+ age requirements. Sundial Mobile & RV Park is one exception, with a camper noting, "Simple and affordable RV park. Pretty much the ONLY one we could get ahold of in the phoenix area that isn't 55+."

Consider lake access options: Lake Pleasant offers family-friendly water recreation with multiple camping styles. A reviewer at Pleasant Harbor RV Resort shared, "RV camping on big water in Arizona! We have stayed here a couple of times. Make sure to book a spot up on cliff overlooking the water. Great sunsets. Free shuttle to haul kayak to boat ramp."

Prepare for noise factors: Several parks are located near transportation corridors. At Sundial Mobile & RV Park, a camper mentioned, "There's a train that goes by at least five times a day and night and a freeway just a few blocks away. So it's not super quiet, however, the noise hasn't really bothered me either."

Tips from RVers

Overnight parking options: Some resorts offer convenient overnight parking with limited hookups. At Mesa Spirit RV Resort, a camper discovered, "It's less expensive (for non-TT members) to get one of those curb spots (with electric, & close access to showers, pool, laundry) than to get a regular spot. So this time, having let TT expire, we tried this out- no reservation, just show up at dusk or later."

Hookup location considerations: Check the placement of utility connections when selecting a site. At Desert Shadows RV Resort, a reviewer advised, "If you're a Class A or C towing, you'll probably have to drop to to access the hookups, as they are at the back end of the pull-throughs, not toward the middle as they usually are."

Wi-Fi performance: Internet connectivity varies significantly between parks. At Desert Shadows RV Resort, a reviewer reported specific speed metrics: "AT&T coverage was quite good, with 2-3 Bars of 5G+ service and speeds up to 23 MB/s. The CG WiFi was pretty decent as well, with speeds up to 4 MB/s, but varied depending on congestion."
