    Russell Memorial Park

    Beautiful lake/creek front

The camp has a lot of long term sites on the waterfront so getting on one usually gets you into spring and camping. The waterfront has mostly electric only sites and run very close to size. We have a 28 5th wheel and we're snug. Site said 25 ft but the picture had a 5'er on it so we booked it. The back sites are ATV/UTV site. They have good access to the trails. They seem a bit bigger. I've seen a few toy haulers back there. There are a few full hookup in the center of the campground but not many. The shower and restrooms were clean. There are larger sites just not all waterfront. We like to travel too much to have a permanent site yet, so we try to come spring and fall here

    Lake Wissota State Park Campground

Smaller scale park but lots to do

This park is on a smaller scale and less crowded than Devil’s Lake. There is a small beach that is in the process of renovation. The sites are large surrounded by trees and very private. The sites on the lake side are not electric and some of them are huge buddy sites, great for extended families. There are two shower houses in the campground located next to sites 29 or 72. If you are on the legs furthest from the lake it is a long walk to them, but all those sites have electric. There are two vault toilet locations and a total of 116 campsites all with a picnic table and fire ring. There is a very large playing field and a playground in the Family Campground and another playground past the beach near the fishing dock. This State Park has a large number of picnic shelters and picnic grounds with picnic tables. There are about 10 hiking trails. There is a boat launch and you can rent kayaks or canoes at the visitor center. Everything was kept clean and in good repair. Cell service for both AT&T and Verizon was strong enough to stream video. If you want to take a trip to town, there are about 5 no longer than a 10 mile distance. There was a large grocery store in Chippewa Falls. Only ice and firewood are available at the park.

    Russell Memorial Park

    Great ATV access

We stayed with a group for Memorial weekend. We have such a great time. Some of our group was tent camping and said the showers were nice and hot but tended to be a little muddy after awhile. Our site was a little hard to get into. We stayed at site 116 with a 40 ft 5th wheel. I would recommend booking early to get a better spot for a big rig. That spot would be easier to get our 30 ft travel trailer into. Water filling stations are all over the campground. It was our first time and we though the dump area was the water station. It was not. Other than that we would definitely recommend.

119 is paved ada 116 can fit a TT and atv trailer comfortably 115 - tight for a 32 ft travel trailer the trees are very close 132 - the area is below the street level which flooded out with mud

    East Fork Campground

quietest we've ever been to (October)

Very remote, although Hatfield, which is on the nearby lake, seems like it's a party town for Motor boaters, ATVers and Hunters, Depending on the season.
We were there in October, and the campground wasn't full, and was extremely quiet. So much so that there weren't even many birds in the morning.
Sites are very nice, the best ones are along the river. Ours was about 20' away. Other sites are backed up to a marshy area, so watch for mosquitoes. Only three sites are pull-through for big rigs; 104, 113 and 120. Site 109 and 111 are closest to the river, but if you think you'll be able to keep/ launch your canoe or kayak from your site, guess again, banks are very steep. There is a boat ramp by the check-in station that is very nice though.
Firepits are the usual steel rings with an adjustable grill. Firewood is $5 a rack, you pull what you want out of the shed, fill the rack and take it away. Bring something to haul it with, it's a generous rack. Honor system when the Host is away, cash when there apparently.  Try to climb up and get the drier wood towards the back.
Restrooms are clean, pit toilets with motion detector lights at night. Water is from a pump, that is clear and cool and unlike many Midwestern campsites, not brackish with an iron taste.

Connors Lake Campground — Flambeau River State Forest

Great Canoe and Backwoods Place– Maybe Not the Place for Families

The State Forest is very beautiful. There is a lake as well as the Flambeau River to explore. There are two campgrounds, Lake of the Pines which has 30 non-electric sites and Connor Lake which has 3 electric sites and 26 non-electric. All sites have a picnic table and a fire ring. There are no play grounds. There are only vault toilets at the campground. There is one shower at the ranger station which is about 4 miles away. There is no cell service at Connors Lake Campground. I could not even make an emergency call which was a concern for me. There are many signs that say to go to the ranger station, about 4 miles to make an emergency call. There is no weather safe shelter at the campground. There are 14 canoe camp areas and the park is beautiful. If you like to canoe this is a great park. We did a hike and cut our stay short since we like a bit more services and safety.

Guide to Lublin

Camping opportunities near Lublin, Wisconsin revolve around central Wisconsin's diverse waterways, thick forests, and rolling terrain. The area sits at approximately 1,200 feet elevation with summer temperatures averaging in the mid-70s and winters dropping well below freezing. Camping season typically runs from late April through October with most campgrounds closed during winter months due to heavy snowfall.

What to do

Kayaking and canoeing access: Many waterfront sites at Brunet Island State Park Campground provide direct water access from individual campsites. "I absolutely loved this campground. Loved that it was tucked in the back of the camping area and was able to put my canoe in the water at my spot," notes Christina H. The park features slow-moving inlets perfect for paddling.

Fishing opportunities: Fish cleaning stations are available at Chippewa NF Campground where anglers report good panfish catches. "The fish cleaning house is nice and there were many pan fish caught by our group," reports Cathy J. A nearby bar sells bait, though campers note prices are high.

Hiking trails: Brunet Island offers several hiking trails, though summer visitors should prepare for mosquitoes. Wedges Creek Hideaway provides 6 miles of hiking trails through the property. "We host weddings and family events along with our popular brick oven pizza and live music weekends in the summer," explains Jeff V., indicating additional recreational options.

What campers like

Creek tubing and swimming: O'Neil Creek Campground features a natural creek that doubles as a lazy river. "The natural creek that doubles as a lazy river is great," says Darren L. Another camper mentions, "Can tube down the creek, very shallow so even littles can do it too."

Kid-friendly amenities: Stoney Creek RV Resort offers numerous activities for children. "There is a bounce pillow, an arcade, mini golf, laser tag, swimming pool, skate park, playground, basketball court, volleyball court...the list of amenities goes on and on," writes Jen A. The resort even serves fresh baked donuts on Saturday mornings.

Spacious sites with privacy: Campers appreciate the generous spacing between sites at several area campgrounds. "The sites are huge almost state park like with ample room for your kids to play," notes Nate M. about Stoney Creek. At Chapman Park, one visitor mentioned, "Clean green spaces to play fetch with the dog or let the kids run are all over this park."

What you should know

Seasonal considerations: Bug activity varies significantly by season. Chippewa NF Campground received a negative review from Becky S. in late May: "Tent worms had infested the campground! Dropping from the trees and landing on you and all your belongings!" Most campgrounds in the area are open from May through September or October.

Connectivity limitations: Cell service is limited throughout the region. At Chippewa NF Campground, one camper noted having "one bar on Verizon." Most rv campgrounds near Lublin, Wisconsin have minimal connectivity, with stronger signals available in nearby towns.

Varying bathroom facilities: Chapman Park Campground offers "nice showers in a great park" according to Justin B., though another visitor notes they are "older but very clean." Some campgrounds only offer vault toilets or token-operated shower facilities.

Tips for camping with families

Beach and swimming considerations: Most public swimming areas in rv campgrounds around Lublin, Wisconsin have rocky rather than sandy shorelines. "The only down side was that the 'beach' is not real swimmer friendly. No sand at all, lots of rocks," mentions Rachel T. about Brunet Island State Park.

Entertainment options for rainy days: Several campgrounds offer indoor activities. Wedges Creek Hideaway features unique amenities including wood-fired pizzas with homemade crust most nights and occasional live music. "He even has event space indoors (heated) and outdoors for weddings and such," notes Amy G.

Wildlife viewing opportunities: Chapman Park Campground includes a deer park on site. "The deer park was great to see again as I hadn't come across one in a few years," writes David K. Brunet Island campers report seeing turtles, frogs, and hearing owls at night.

Tips from RVers

Site selection for larger rigs: RV campers should research site dimensions carefully. At Rock Dam Park, Beth D. describes the campground as "Quite a maze of a campsite" with multiple entrances, noting that site 147 is right at one entrance making it busier than others.

ATV accessibility: Rock Dam Park offers direct access to ATV trails, which some enjoy and others find disruptive. "Although this campsite has spots for tents and pull behind trailers, it was 90% rv Park... There are also ATV trails so we had to listen to that most of the day and night," reports Juliya R.

Campground layout considerations: At Brunet Island, sites in the South Loop have electric hookups plus flush toilets and showers, while North Loop sites are more primitive with only vault toilets. RV sites at Stoney Creek are described as "huge with plenty of room between you and your neighbors" with paved roads throughout the campground.
