    SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Campgrounds near Lublin in central Wisconsin include several options within the Chequamegon National Forest and surrounding county parks, offering various camping experiences from primitive backcountry sites to developed facilities with modern amenities. The area features established campgrounds like Chippewa National Forest Campground with wooded sites and lake access, alongside more rustic options such as Sailor Creek and Northside Lake Eleven backcountry sites along the Ice Age Trail. Most developed campgrounds accommodate both tent and RV camping with varying levels of hookups, while backcountry sites are primarily designed for tent camping or hammocks.

Seasonal considerations heavily influence the camping experience in this region, with most developed campgrounds operating from May through October. Winter camping options are limited, though some areas like Lake Wissota State Park remain open year-round. Many campgrounds provide water access for fishing and boating, particularly at locations like Otter Lake and Chapman Park where waterfront sites are available. Primitive backcountry sites typically require hikers to filter water from nearby creeks or lakes. According to one visitor at Chippewa NF Campground, "Sites are spread out with woods between the sites. Flush toilets with token operated showers. Waterfront sites are usually full, but shallow boat ramp for trailers is close by."

Campers report high satisfaction with the fishing opportunities throughout the region, particularly at Otter Lake where one reviewer noted "excellent fishing for Panfish, Bass, and Walleyes." The wooded nature of most campgrounds provides privacy between sites, though this varies by location. Chippewa National Forest campgrounds tend to be heavily wooded with significant spacing between sites, while city parks like Medford City Park and Dorchester Park offer more open settings. Several visitors mentioned the quietness and natural setting as key highlights, especially in the national forest campgrounds. Reviews suggest that waterfront sites tend to fill quickly during summer weekends, and reservations are recommended for popular locations during peak season.

      Big Eau Pleine Park Campground

Big Eau Pleine RV Camp and park

I have been A South side CAMPGROUND Host for 6 years now. My review may be a BIT biased for that reason, but I'll give my take. We do everything we can to make this campsite a home away from home for all our visitors. We pride ourselves on keeping everything natural. We pick up trash and garbage anywhere we find it. We try to greet as many guests we see. We are always trying to make our pit toiĺetsas presentable as we can considering what they are. We have someone come in and do what they call deep clean every toilerepaint jobst at least once a week. Some of them are due for a painting which should happen in the next year we are hoping. We are in the process of reworking picnic tables throughout the park now. We ask campers to please let us know if they see one needing repairs. Please come give us a try. My wife and I are host's on the South Park admin sight. Stop and say hello.

      Pine Harbor Campground

      Quiet campground

The campground is minutes from Lake Wissota, close to Lake Wissota State Park, and has very nice oversized campsites. Nice bath and shower house with plenty of hot water.

      North Wood County Park

      Water Everywhere!

North Wood County Park is a hidden gem. Many of the sites have a view of water and several even have water access right from your site. There are several loops that range from paved with electric to rustic and non-electric. We stayed at site 59 which stretched down to a paved trail and then one of the lakes. We were close to the suspension bridge, which is a fun attraction. There is also a low roadway that goes over the water that is absolutely beautiful and sometimes floods. There are several dams and it makes for a great kayak or fishing spot. Most of the campground is paved, which is awesome if you have an ebike or e scooter. They sell wood at a decent price ($7), but nothing else. You also have to book your site online with a $10 fee for using the online booking. It does make arrival super easy, you just pull in and set up camp. Overall I would highly recommend spending a few nights here.

      Brunet Island State Park Campground

      Has it all

Sites 1-24 have electricity 25-49 are not and no gen allowed. 1-24 are all pretty open. Once you get to 25 and up you can get water frontage. Pit toilets are ok. It would help if people could read & close the lids when finished. Nice hiking and biking plus canoeing & kayaks for rent.

      Lake Wissota State Park Campground

      Diversity

This state park is beautiful and well kept. They put in a new road 2 summers ago and have started doing some more forest maintenance. Campgrounds are usually clean and well maintained. Lots of invasive species around unfortunately.

      East Arbutus Camp

Very nice with lots of water sites

Dog friendly, quiet and nice showers. The water sites enjoy a beautiful view across the 640 lake. You can pull your boat right up to many of the sandy beach campsites and swim right there too. Great campground for family groups.

      Morris Erickson County Park

Grassy lakeside space convenient to the Ice Age Trail, but little privacy

Clean and well-kept, this is a very small park with mowed lawn but no separation between the campsites, and close to a highway. Quiet at night. We stayed there off-season, and had it mostly to ourselves.  It's convenient for an overnight stay while hiking the Ice Age Trail road connection nearby.

    Guide to Lublin

Camping near Lublin, Wisconsin spans across the Chequamegon National Forest where elevation ranges between 1,200-1,600 feet. The region experiences distinct seasons with summer temperatures averaging 75°F and winter lows often reaching -10°F. Most camping areas sit within mixed hardwood forests with maple, oak, and pine trees providing natural shade at developed sites.

    What to do

Paddling opportunities: Brunet Island State Park Campground offers excellent water access with many non-electric sites directly on the water. "You really feels the outside world woes melt away at this island park on the Chippewa River. Large sites, many right on the water to make launching your kayak easy. Lots of slow moving inlets to paddle into and get lost in nature and fishing if you like," notes Linda T.

Hiking trails: The Ice Age Trail runs through several camping areas in the region, with Eastwood NF Campground providing direct trail access. "Our site had a wooded trail down to the flowage and onto the Mondeaux Esker Trail segment of the Ice Age Trail. The Mondeaux Esker segment was challenging (muddy) but fun," reports Anikka T.

Wildlife viewing: Early morning and dusk offer the best wildlife viewing times around local campgrounds. "Falling acorns, frogs and chipmunks chirping, turtles basking in sunlight and more. The owls at night were a treat (sometimes even scary) to listen to," writes Gerald B. about his experience at Brunet Island State Park.

    What campers like

Site privacy: Lake Wissota State Park Campground receives high marks for separated sites. "Beautiful shaded campground with semi private sites. Nice beach that is a walkable distance from the sites. Lots of walking, biking and horse trails that are full of wild berries," explains Donella L.

Clean facilities: Most developed campgrounds maintain well-kept restrooms and shower facilities. "The bathrooms are amazingly clean and for some reason the whole place was mosquito free! The only done side was that the 'beach' is not real swimmer friendly. No sand at all, lots of rocks," reports Rachel T. about Brunet Island.

Fishing quality: Otter Lake Chippewa County provides outstanding fishing opportunities year-round. "If your looking for a quiet, remote, good fishing camp Otter Lake is the right choice. Beautiful day park for scenic views for a picnic. Private camp sites. Some have private docks. Excellent fishing for Panfish, Bass, and Walleyes," explains Michael M.

    What you should know

Water availability: Some campgrounds have limited or seasonal water access. "One drawback was the water at the campground is shut off due to bad water tests. Plan ahead - there is a glacial spring within driving distance and other federal campgrounds that you might be able to get water from," warns Anikka T. about Eastwood NF Campground.

Site selection strategy: Waterfront sites typically book first but may have less privacy. "Sites are level and paved. 43mbps TMobile and 24mbps Verizon (visible)," notes Scott K. about Medford City Park.

Beach conditions: Swimming areas vary significantly between campgrounds. At Lake Wissota, one camper mentioned, "The swimming beach is not very clean and there are ground bees on the trail," while at Brunet Island, reviews note rocky beaches with "no sand at all, lots of rocks."

    Tips for camping with families

Playgrounds and recreation: Multiple campgrounds offer family-friendly amenities. "The park has a beach and volleyball area. Great for large group get togethers," writes Linda T. about Brunet Island State Park.

City park camping: Chapman Park Campground offers excellent facilities for families. "Clean green spaces to play fetch with the dog or let the kids run are all over this park. The waterfront is beautiful with a nice picturesque bridge to a little island," shares David K.

Beach access: Family-friendly swimming areas are available at several parks. "There is a small beach to play in the water, playground and ball field. The bathrooms are nicely kept but dated. Great location to go with kids," notes Tiffany K. about Brunet Island.

    Tips from RVers

Hookup availability: Chippewa NF Campground offers electric sites with good spacing. "There are tons of sites across three loops, spaced apart with picnic tables, fire pits, and plenty of room. Most sites are level– we were only staying one night and didn't even need to unhook our pickup," reports Amy E.

City park options: Smaller municipal campgrounds can provide excellent services. "30/50 amp on the west side of the street. 30/20 on the east side of the street against the river. Beautiful little city park. Sites are level and paved," explains Scott K. about Medford City Park.

Winter camping limitations: Most campgrounds close for winter, though a few remain open with reduced amenities. "We pulled in on a Sunday night without reservations. Nice, quiet campground between 2 small lakes and next to a deer park. Large, level sites with electric hookups," notes Carol about Chapman Park.
