Best RV Parks & Resorts near Argyle, TX

Northlake Village RV Park in Roanoke provides 177 full-service RV sites year-round with 50-amp electrical hookups, water, and sewer connections. Sites accommodate large motorhomes with big-rig-friendly access and pull-through capabilities. Nearby, Shady Creek RV Park and Storage in Aubrey features 207 sites with similar hookup options, while Destiny Dallas RV Resort in Denton offers lakeside camping with fire rings at select sites. Lake Life RV Resort contains just 7 sites but maintains high ratings for cleaner, less crowded experiences. Concrete pads are standard at several parks with varying degrees of shade and spacing between units. "We've stayed at Northlake Village over the Thanksgiving holiday. The grounds are well maintained and so are the facilities; pool, fitness room, laundry and bathrooms."

Reservation requirements increase during holiday weekends and football season, with most parks requiring advance booking through online systems. Full hookup sites typically cost $35-60 per night depending on location and amenities. Limited cell service affects some properties, particularly those near Lake Lewisville where coverage can be spotty. Most parks enforce quiet hours from 10pm to 7am and prohibit open fires. Pet policies vary, with Rock Island RV Park and Destiny Dallas being pet-friendly but implementing breed restrictions and designated walking areas. Dump stations are available at Shady Creek, Wagon Master RV Park, and Destiny Dallas, though some parks charge additional fees for their use. Road access to most parks accommodates large vehicles, but narrow entrances at some locations may require careful navigation.

    The Retreat at Shady Creek

    Awesome RV resort in town

We normally don't do RV resorts, but this one is awesome. The sites are fairly spacious, especially compared to other RV resorts. Big rig friendly with many different style spots to choose from. We always choose the fence line back in sites, and they always come with plenty of grass to walk the dogs. The fence backs up to residential, but that doesn't bother us. Even the back in sites are plenty spacious for a big rig and your tow vehicle and another vehicle. The park is very roomy and easy to navigate and park.

The staff are always so nice and they make late check in a breeze, which we appreciate after a long, tiring day of towing. This RV resort is the only place we've ever stayed in that allows RV washing! For full-time RVers, that's pretty huge. They also have a mail room if you need to receive a package on the road.

The resort is split up into two areas by the road, the Retreat area is more resort like and caters to short term stays, while the other half has long term stays. They both look nice and are clean and beautiful. We will continue to visit every time we pass through the area.

    A Plus RV Park

    Friendly Staff, Easy Highway Access

I have seen this place a million times living in the community nearby and never thought to check to see if they all tent campers. I was shocked to find out they do accommodate them so I passed through and checked out the grounds and wanted to let people know it exists!

There are two entries at the front of the property each easily accessed from the highway. Though they are gravel they are easy to navigate but do hold a little water in the rain. As you drive into the camp there are 4 main rows of camping, mostly in use by RVs however they do also accommodate tent campers. These sites can be picked up nightly or for more long term use so many people at this park have called this their home for a bit. Despite obvious signs of the long term dwellers, the grounds are clean and well maintained and don't look cluttered like some long term campgrounds will begin to look.

The site offers nice restrooms with showers, a bbq for general use, a rec room perfect for having your breakfast or dinner or perhaps a game of cards with friends and has connections for RVs up to 50 amp as well as a dump station.

For the tent camper sites are wide enough to be comfortable to move around and have scattered picnic tables. The tent camping sites are located on a grassy area next to the pond so they are not squished between big rigs and have a bit more privacy.

This site might not look as elaborate as some, but it more than makes up for the few things you do not have by its friendly staff and on site mechanic.

    TIPS:

    • Call in advance if looking for an RV site, they do have several spaces available but during certain times of the year they do fill up as they are centrally located to many things.

    • Check out the LBJ Grasslands which are nearby when visiting this location, a great get away for some outdoor activities.

    Lake Park Campground

    Nice Place

This place is well-maintained and a fairly nice park. Family friendly and there is a lake and playground within walking distance. The staff is courteous. We did not use any of the facilities, except dump station.

There are specific sites for 30 and 50. The middle spaces for 30 amp have no shade. For 50 amp avoid sites 59-63, 0 shade. There are no sewer hookups at the site. Only dumping station.

Reservations is done by calling the park, no online.

    Holiday Park Campground

Hard to Believe You’re Next to a Big City

When we got to Benbrook, we used the campground(CG) website instructions as we didn’t see any signage for the CG on US377 coming in from the east. We turned right onto Pearl Ranch Rd and followed it to the Holiday COE entrance about 2 miles straight down the road. Check in was easy and the guy who checked us in was very informative. We needed to fill our freshwater tank and he pointed out on the map the two dump stations with potable water. We proceeded to the dump station just inside the gate to find out there was not a potable water spigot just the usual rinse hose. We went back to the entrance and he informed us the park ranger had told him they are on well water and thus the water at the dump station was safe, even though there was a sign clearly stating it was not safe to drink. We were then told we could go to an empty camp site that had water hook-ups and fill up there, which we did. Not sure what we would have done if this had been a busy weekend with all of the water sites full. We then proceeded to pull through site 72 with 30/50 AMP. There was plenty of space for our 39’ fifth wheel and F-450 on the asphalt pad. The site had a covered cement patio with picnic table, and bbq/fire pit that we couldn't use due to a burn ban. Site 73 was the only other site in our little cul-de-sac. For the intent of this review, we toured the campground specifically looking for free standing water spigots, but didn't find any. The showers/restroom were old but in workable shape. If you want to stay where we did in sites 72-75 they were definitely electric only, contrary to what other reviews mentioned. There were water spigots at the sites but they had been capped off. Sites 76, 77,& 78 were also electric only and sat up on a hill with a slight lake view but are across the street from a neighborhood that backs up to the park. Sites 83- 93 had water and electric as well as some of the sites near the front of the park. We got 3 bars on Verizon and a whole bunch of OTA channels. We enjoyed the view of the lake and privacy at our site since we were the only ones there the whole time of our stay during the week.

    Traders Village RV Park

    Clean and big

We stayed 4 nights in site 24, PT FHU on a level concrete pad with a picnic table and plot of grass. $40/ni after Good Sam. The park is split into two sections; the side we are in is next to an airfield and the other side is by a small dog run (next time, I'll request this section bc I'm traveling with my dogs). They have a store and the laundry is clean and well priced ($1.25/wash, $0.25/12 min dry). The wifi is strong and the park is quiet. There are some long term, possibly permanent, tenants, but their sites are well kept.

    Thousand Trails Bay Landing

    Decent Park

As far as Thousand Trails this is an average park. There are some full hook up sites but many are partial hookups. You pick your own site which is nice but most of the full hook up sites are occupied by long term residents or annual site holders. The view of the lake is beautiful and the park is quiet. They do have a lot of amenities.

Sites: most were level, grass or gravel. Some have a view of the lake. I sprained my knee and ankle at this park because our site was so unlevel and the mud sunk our jacks a little. Our rig weighs 16,000lbs so the Class As should be careful. The ground was soft and I came out of the RV without thinking and twisted both. Medical services are within a half hour of the RV Park.

Each site had picnic tables and fire rings.

Cellular: we were able to work and stream video easily with T-Mobile and AT&T.

Amenities: Club House Shuffle Board Pool Hot Tub (closed while we were there) RV Storage Mini Golf Hiking Trails Laundry Bath House Playground Fishing WiFi

Smaller, less crowded options: Campgrounds with fewer sites often provide quieter experiences. Brandon C. appreciates that Lake Life RV Resort "only has seven spots so it's very quiet and well kept. Enjoy the swimming pool on a hot day."

Laundry facilities with modern payment systems: Convenient on-site laundry makes longer stays more manageable. At Shady Creek RV Park and Storage, Rafael A. likes "the app that lets you pay so you don't need coins but also tells you how much time you have remaining or if there are machines available."

What you should know

Monthly-only restrictions: Some parks cater to long-term rather than weekend campers. At Destiny Dallas RV Resort, Spencer notes, "Tried to book a weekend, turns out they are a monthly only park."

Train noise proximity: Certain campgrounds experience railway disruptions, particularly at night. Josh M. warns about Boyd RV Park: "Train is really close to the park so expect loud horns at night."

Pet restrictions vary by breed: Specific dog breeds may be prohibited at certain parks. One reviewer at Destiny Dallas RV Resort reported, "Everything says 'Pet Friendly', however when we tried to book a spot for a month they said I couldn't bring my Great Dane puppy bc of the breed and insurance."

Tips from RVers

Leveling considerations: Some sites may require additional adjustment despite appearing level. Sybel P. notes about Treetops RV Resort, "Our spot was 171 and was very well shaded, the only thing is our trailer was level but we felt like we were leaning back."

RV-specific staff assistance: First-time RVers can find parks with helpful backing guidance. Justin D. shares about his experience at Treetops RV Resort: "This was our first time ever in our first trailer ever and it was perfect. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We stayed in a pull thru super."

Storm evacuation options: The Argyle area serves as an evacuation destination during Gulf Coast weather events. Michael J. mentions about Northlake Village RV Park, "We evacuated from Ida to this park. Secluded quiet place near Roanoke and Grapevine."

Properly trimmed sites: Look for parks that maintain tree clearance for larger rigs. Justin D. appreciates that at Treetops RV Resort, "Lots of shade, and the trees were trimmed with plenty of room."
