Colleton State Park Campground offers full pet-friendly accommodations on the Edisto River, with easy access for dogs to explore the water's edge. Pets are welcome at all 25 campsites, which feature fire rings, picnic tables, and full hookups for RVs. Givhans Ferry State Park Campground, located approximately 20 miles northeast, similarly allows pets at their sites and cabin areas. Both parks maintain clean facilities with regular bathroom maintenance and hot showers accessible to all campers with pets. The Edisto River area provides multiple options for pet exercise, with several campgrounds offering open fields where dogs can play. Herd it Here Farm allows RV campers with pets to experience farm life alongside alpacas, horses, and cows, though dogs should be kept on leash due to the presence of livestock. The farm includes a small gift shop where campers can purchase alpaca products while their pets rest nearby. Campers should follow the specific directions provided by the hosts, as larger rigs may have difficulty navigating the entrance from certain directions. Temperature considerations are important when camping with pets in this region, as summer months can reach uncomfortably high temperatures, especially in August when evening temperatures may remain around 90 degrees.

    Outside Inn Campground

Great Family Trip Especially for the kiddos!!

This was our second visit to Outside Inn Campground and both times we stayed in the camper they offer as a rental. It’s the first thing you basically see when pull into the campground and when we come back next time that’s where we want to stay again. It’s perfect for a family with multiple kids and for us we had 3 adults and 3 kids and we couldn’t have been more comfortable. The owners Chris and Clair are just the best. They are so accommodating and always there if you need anything. The kids really enjoy the animals and activities they provide, especially feeding the goats when they were babies. The facilities are in exceptional condition and especially if you may have forgotten something“fire wood for us” they have that available to you as well. We can’t wait for our next trip back and are really looking forward to seeing the new changes the have in progress like the Glamping Tents and pond. Overall this was one of our best experiences as a family camping in South Carolina. Thank you again Clair for being present and patient with Avery and Albie while they were around the animals! We look forward to seeing y’all again soon!

Campground at James Island County Park

    Hidden gem for visiting Charleston

When making reservations at James Island County Park we had modest expectations, but we were going to tour Charleston most of the time, so we decided anything close to the city would be good enough. The campground turned out to be very nice. We wished we had stayed there longer to enjoy not only Charleston, but the nature beauty of the park itself. The campground is located in a huge park with lots of amenities. The sites are spacious, covered with trees, full hookups with 50 amp service. There are a lot of shaded picturesque walking and bike trails in the park. The dog park was amazingly big, with a little doggy beach for water lovers. There is a big kids playground with a fun looking spray play fountain. It is located just 15 min drive from the campground to downtown Charleston. It is a great campground to stay when visiting Charleston. We have a video on our YouTube Channel- Summertime RV Rovers- about this park- Great Campgrounds in Coastal South Carolina: Charleston and Hilton Head Island. Please check for yourself. We camped at James Island County Park in a Motorhome.

Campground at James Island County Park

    Awesome Place to RV Camp

We found this campground well maintained and quiet. The bath house was recently remodeled and now has air conditioning. I found it to be one of the nicest bath facilities we have ever used. The campsites have full RV hook-ups and come with a picnic table and fire ring. The park does allow pets and has a dog park with a beach; it seems like the pups were having a marvelous time playing chase on the beach. This is a County Park with trails for walking or leisure biking. A new water park is under construction and should open this summer. The camp store is well stocked and the staff was very friendly and helpful. One downside was the WIFI (one of the perks at this place) did not work the entire 5 days we were there. I need to work remotely so this was a BIG problem. I had to go to the Starbucks to work...bummer! Positives were the easy drive and parking at nearby Folly Beach during the week, and the close proximity to Historic Charleston.

Campground at James Island County Park

    Perfect park setting

This is a big county park over 600 acres. We could only get reservations for two nights since there was no availability. However this was my favorite ever park to camp at. The campground is tucked in the back of the park. There’s numerous walking/biking paths and a terrific dog park with lake access. The park is very clean and well-maintained. I wish we had more time to explore this lovely, serene park.

    Mount Pleasant-Charleston KOA

    Beautiful, Clean, friendly Campground

We stayed in a 2 bedroom cabin for this trip. It was a great campground. It had a pool, camp activities, hiking/nature trail. It was extremely clean and the staff was friendly. It has a lake for fishing and water activities, a dog park. It is very close to things around Charleston. We will absolutely go back.
