Best RV Parks & Resorts near Mountain Top, PA

RV campgrounds in the Pocono Mountain region accommodate various travel trailer and motorhome sizes. Appalachian Camping Resort near Shartlesville provides full hookup sites with water, electric, and sewer connections, operating from April through October. Blue Mountain RV and Camping Resort in Lehighton offers year-round accessibility with spacious pull-through sites for larger rigs. Stonybrook RV Resort features big-rig friendly sites with 50-amp electrical service and water hookups. Several parks maintain gravel pads with fire rings and picnic tables at each site. "Sites are a little close together but the way they are angled you have just enough privacy," noted one camper about Hickory Run State Park.

Seasonal availability varies significantly across the region's RV parks. Many campgrounds close between late October and early April, though several maintain year-round operations. Cell service can be inconsistent in mountainous areas, with one reviewer mentioning "absolutely no cell service" at Ricketts Glen State Park. Navigation requires careful planning as some parks involve mountain roads with elevation changes. Most RV-friendly campgrounds provide sanitary dump stations, though availability of 50-amp service differs between parks. Pet-friendly sites are commonly available but often designated to specific camping loops or areas. Reservations are strongly recommended during summer weekends and fall foliage season when occupancy rates peak throughout the Pocono region.

    Stony MT Family Campground

    We’d do it again!

Not cheap but we’ll within area norms. This camp has many long term campers that are friendly and helpful and some have children with them. Some full-time rigs are weekend campers. Some weekend events are planned. Most sites have full hookups with 50 amp electric only so if needed have an adapter (available at the small camp store. We had an unplanned extension on our visit that included a weekend where a group was scheduled and the park was booked including our site. The friendly staff worked to ensure a temporary site for us for the weekend.

    Mountain Vista Campground

    Mt Vista Campground

Beautiful Campground. Clean. Gravel sites. Fire ring and picnic table. All sites have ample room. Lots of pull through for bigger rigs. Wooded. Large dog park. Love the Campground except our site is near a fairly busy road which takes away from that beautiful tranquility. They have camouflaged it as best they could. Friendly staff. Lots to do. Pool, tennis. Sauna, pond for fishing ( catch & release ). Would definitely recommend.

    Tobyhanna State Park Campground

    Great family campground

This place only gets 4 stars because I thought we were going to have water and electric hook ups. They only have 2 kinds of sites, modern electric (only electric) and primitive. They have a potable water station and dump station and very few sites with electric hook up. They also have specific pet friendly sites. We had a wonderful time here. We went for Father’s Day weekend in June. The lake is gorgeous! Beachfront swimming and boat rentals, great biking and hiking trails. Sites are mostly separated by trees but are still close. Bath houses were very clean and they have a dish washing sink as well. Beach is within walking and biking distance. Two cons- Bath house at the beach is 50 cents for a 2-minute shower, so we just went back to the campground bath house to clean up. The playground near sites 53-56 is a little underwhelming. Otherwise was a great stay! We already booked another stay in September this year!

The Pines Campground — Promised Land State Park

Quiet, just remote enough, a Great Lake, and nice camp hosts

I stayed for three nights in a pull through trailer site with 50 AMP and 30 AMP electric. Easy to get in and out of, nice and shady, big spaces so you were not on top of one another, and nice and quiet. Clean and modern bath house, water close by, and great camp hosts. Definitely recommend it.

Lower Lake Campground Northwoods Area — Promised Land State Park

    Northwoods Campground

Big sites with 30 amp service available for RVs and trailers. Each site has a large picnic table and a fire ring with an adjustable grate. The pull-through sites don’t offer much in the way of privacy, but that’s the trade off for convenience. There are two potable water spigots in the campground. The bathhouse offers warm showers, 2 dishwashing sinks, and a coin-operated washer and dryer. The facilities are kept very clean. On the weekends it can get pretty crowded, so it tends to be louder at night then, but the camp hosts and the rangers do a good job of enforcing quiet hours. Access points to several trails are very near the campground. As with all PA state parks, alcohol is prohibited. The park doesn’t have a camp store, however, there is a small general store on Route 390 (The Lake Store) just north of the park that would have any essentials you may have forgotten, as well as ice for your cooler.

Delaware Water Gap / Pocono Mountain KOA

    Family friendly, super kind staff

We have stayed at a few KOAs and we really liked this one. The staff were kind and so helpful. This is right by Shawnee, several water sports places and near some great hikes. Campground has some nice shaded 30amp back in spots with full hookups. We stayed in 47 which backs up to a wooded area & had good cover. Although the map shows site 47 as electric & water only it's actually full hookups (they just haven't updated the map yet). Some of the pull through sites in the center are not shaded at all, as a heads up. Friends stayed in a deluxe cabin, which was beautiful & looked brand new inside. The camp store has everything you might need. Wi-Fi is free and signal OK. The pool is well maintained and there's a ton of space for outdoor activities like volleyball, mini golf & more. We did a buddy site and stayed next to friends as well for a small extra fee per site. We would stay here again!

    Echo Valley Campground

    Not your first choice

This is a very dated camp ground lacking charm. The majority of sites are permanent with workmen. In the website is boasts amenities like game room, play ground and pool, the game room was a shack, play ground was nice and the pool is large but was in need of major maintenance. We did get a pull through site which was nice, but it was right next to a very busy road as is a lot of the sites. The site we had was water, electric and sewage which was convenient. Customer service is lacking. I was surprised that this camp ground got such a good rating in the GS camp ground book. It would be fine for an overnight if you’re on the road but not really a place for a weekend or extended stay.

Blue Mountain RV and Camping Resort

Great place for Adventure, Blue Mountain Resort

Wanted to find a close by place for for a night of Tent camping and stumbled across this winter time ski resort/ spring summer camping and adventure grounds. Rob the manager was so kind and friendly, the bathrooms are all immaculate and a shower is available just reserve your time. Grounds are well kept and rather large open field type camping with trees all around the outside. No electric or water hookups but fresh water is offered if needed. If you choose adventure this is the place for you, ride the ski lifts up to the top of the mountain then you get to bike down it, they have rental bikes available or bring your own. You can also Zip line or swing through the trees if you would rather. If your into Disc golf this place has that too. A great restaurant sits at the top of the mountain....close to the Appalachian Trail if your a hiker. Great place will be going back.

What to do

Fishing in stocked ponds: Robin Hill Campground offers a catch and release lake where families can enjoy fishing together. As reviewer Luis B. noted, "Nice lake for fishing. About an hour from a motorbike riding park."

Boulder field exploration: The unique boulder field at Hickory Run State Park Campground provides an unusual geological attraction. "The Boulder Fields are one of the coolest places I've ever visited, partially because they were so unexpected. Don't twist an ankle, but you can play hide and seek to an extent as there are small depressions in the fields," writes Amber A.

Mountain biking: Blue Mountain RV and Camping Resort offers downhill mountain biking using ski lifts during warm months. "If you choose adventure this is the place for you, ride the ski lifts up to the top of the mountain then you get to bike down it, they have rental bikes available or bring your own," explains Lois.

What campers like

Spacious sites: Many RV campgrounds near Mountain Top, Pennsylvania feature large, well-maintained campsites. At Stonybrook RV Resort, camper Jonathan F. shared, "This place has never come up in any of my searches for a campground but my wife was frantically trying to find a place to stay for Memorial Day weekend. They had one site left that we were lucky enough to grab and I'm glad we did. The site was nice and level side to side."

Clean facilities: Campers frequently mention the quality of restrooms and showers. Jim B. commented about Moyers Grove Campground: "The bathhouse (hooray) was great. Recently renovated, they were extremely, clean and dry."

Natural wildlife viewing: The forests around Mountain Top provide opportunities to spot local wildlife. At Hickory Run State Park, campers report seeing deer and other forest animals. Becca U. noted that at Moyers Grove, "We saw deer daily. There are 3 resident geese who wander around near the creek and lakes."

What you should know

Cell service limitations: Some campgrounds have limited connectivity. At Moyers Grove Campground, Becca U. warns, "Be advised that there was no cell service or internet for AT&T users. (Verizon did have some service.) Also, there is no cable and our antennae was unable to pick up any TV channels."

Site positioning: At Robin Hill Campground, Jen R. cautions about the terrain: "This campground is called Robin HILL for a reason. You will get your exercise walking to the pond, pool, capstone or basketball courts." Understanding campground layouts helps when booking sites.

Water hookup variations: Water access differs between campgrounds. Becca U. notes, "Make sure you have a LONG water hose. We actually had to buy a 50 foot hose in the camp store to accommodate the distance to the spigot."
