    SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Campgrounds near Orbisonia, Pennsylvania span both state parks and federally managed land, with options ranging from primitive sites to full-service facilities. Seven Points, located along Raystown Lake, offers tent camping, RV sites with hookups, and cabin rentals within a forested setting approximately 15 miles from Orbisonia. Cowans Gap State Park Campground, situated about 10 miles southwest of Orbisonia, provides electric sites, tent pads, and cabin accommodations in a mountainous environment with lake access. The region includes both mixed-use campgrounds and specialized facilities catering to specific camping styles, with several sites offering lakefront views and access.

Road conditions and site availability vary seasonally throughout the area, with most campgrounds operating from April through October or early December. Many sites require advance reservations, particularly waterfront locations which tend to fill quickly during summer months. "This campground is located on the east side of Pennsylvania and offers a beautiful view of Lake Raystown. The campground has over 200 sites to choose from, and many of them are right on the water," noted one visitor. Cell service can be limited in more remote camping areas, particularly at Greenwood Furnace State Park where little to no signal is available. Elevation changes affect temperatures across the region, with campgrounds in mountainous terrain often experiencing cooler conditions than surrounding areas, especially at night.

Campers consistently rate waterfront sites at Seven Points and Lake Raystown Resort among the most desirable in the area, with many mentioning the proximity to swimming, fishing, and boating opportunities. The extensive trail systems near several campgrounds represent another significant draw, with one reviewer highlighting the "50 miles of single track mountain biking" available near Raystown Lake. Sites throughout the region vary considerably in privacy and spacing, with some campers noting the more secluded tent sites tucked into wooded areas provide greater solitude. Bathroom facilities and amenities differ substantially between locations, with state park campgrounds generally offering more consistent maintenance and cleanliness according to visitor reports. For those seeking primitive experiences, several areas provide more remote options with fewer amenities but greater natural immersion.

      Wilson Boondock Hollow

      Awesome hospitality !

Micheal met us with a welcome packet, delivered campwood at a very reasonable price (and loaned us a hatchet), clean facilities and hot shower were a bonus!

Very responsive to messages and an overall delightful experience. Great bird watching and a huge herd of deer came to visit too.

      Great park! Hanna Park

This is a very nice and quiet park owned by the city of Jacksonville, Florida. On the beach with tons of stuff to do.

      Cranky

Frome the moment you drive up the women at the gate is about as welcoming ( as my Pops would say ) "A fart in church.," Great way to start your vacation. Didn't get much better in the office. The one guy that worked there did at least smile at us....

      Riverfront Campground

      Disgusting

      Where do I start?

We came to this campground to connect with family who was hiking the AT. We left after one miserable night. Here are some reasons:

A giant confederate flag near the entrance

Highway noise and not one but two train tracks

      One Filthy “bathroom”

No shade at our campsite- despite other available sites with some shade

A trail of poison ivy on the narrow path to the river

      Cigarette butts everywhere

And a creepy man on a bike who declared he was a local and wouldn’t leave our site while I was alone and insisted on talking to me about the strip club down the street, where to buy condoms and how my tent’s mesh shelf is perfect for drying out my wet panties.

      Riverfront Campground

      Trashy

We called ahead of time to reserve two sites for two nights for a bunch of people from out of state and some hikers from the AT. They said it was $35 per site per night. When we arrived we were told that we had to pay for three nights because it was a holiday weekend AND that the price was per tent. The porta potties were gross and hadn’t been serviced in a while. It was difficult to use them. During a heat wave we were given a site with little shade when several sites further along with plenty of trees were empty. The plumbed bathroom was dirty and had no soap. The shop did not in fact sell love bait, which cramped our fishing style. There is a loud rail road with constant trains on one side and a very busy highway with loud trucks on the other. The river front was lovely, but with detritus from previous campers on the rocks. We left after one night.

      Greenwood Furnace State Park Campground

Quiet and private - beach and extensive hiking

Fabulous campground, off the beaten path. Stayed here 2 nights and enjoyed walking to the beach and hiking some of the extensive trail system. Campsites are well spaced and private. Although most are on on a slight hill, our parking spot was level and it appeared most others were as well.

      Gettysburg Campground

      Great Location in Gettysburg

We spent 4 nights at Gettysburg Campground to attend the AIM Club Rally(Lincoln’s Legacy- Gettysburg 250), and it served as base camp for the event.

      WHAT I LIKED:

      • Location, Location, Location: This park is an absolute winner for convenience—just 5 minutes from the Gettysburg battlefields, museums, and the heart of town.

      • The Atmosphere: The staff gave us a warm reception at check-in, and the site itself was clean, well-maintained, and spacious enough to back up to a running creek. Lots of mature trees offer lots of shade and character.

      • Big-Rig Friendly: Navigating a 45-foot motorhome with a toad can sometimes be stressful, but this park was easy to maneuver.

WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE SO MUCH:

      • Late-Night Power Struggles: On our final night, the campground experienced grid strain. Our Hughes Watchdog Power Center saved the day—but it had to shut off our power 7 different times due to low voltage. Aside from losing a few hours of sleep to the chorus of appliances cycling off and on, no harm was done. I recommend using a surge protector/voltage regulator if you stay here.

      WOULD WE COME BACK?

      • Absolutely! Minor power hiccups aside, this is a beautiful, clean park situated right in the middle of everything you'd want to see and do in the area.

    Guide to Orbisonia

Camping spots near Orbisonia, Pennsylvania range from lakeside recreation areas to quiet state parks nestled in the Appalachian highlands. The region sits at elevations between 700-1,500 feet with summer temperatures averaging 75-85°F during peak camping season. Water access varies significantly between campgrounds, with sites like Raystown Lake offering extensive boating options while more secluded locations provide primitive camping experiences.

    What to do

Mountain biking at Allegrippis Trails: Access these IMBA standard trails directly from Seven Points campground. "The mtb trails begin just above the upper camp loops and provide a full day of fast flowing singletrack," notes Travis S. The Ridge camp loop puts you closest to trailheads.

Explore Trough Creek gorge: Hike to unique geological features at Trough Creek State Park Campground. "It has a nice hike up above a creek with a huge rock that appears ready to fall over the cliff with a simple touch," explains camper Nick S. The park includes several hiking trails with natural attractions.

Boating and fishing at Raystown Lake: The 8,300-acre lake provides extensive water recreation. "We rented a pontoon boat and kayaks and explored as much as we could. Rates on both rentals were reasonable and the staff was friendly," reports Krystle D. from Seven Points. Access points around the lake accommodate different watercraft types.

    What campers like

Waterfront camping options: Several campgrounds offer sites directly on Raystown Lake. At Susquehannock, "We stayed at Lake Raystown...it's a primitive campground with no electricity. Get your water at a hand pump and they have pit toilets. Nice place to camp along the lake," explains Rebecca G. Some sites allow boat tie-ups right at your campsite.

Clean facilities: Campground maintenance receives consistent praise. "The bathhouse (one in the loop) was clean with 3 showers. A playground near the sites at the entrance also," mentions Travis S. about Ridge camp at Seven Points. Another camper at Point Campground adds, "The bathrooms and showers were some of the nicest I've seen at a campground."

Privacy between sites: Many campers appreciate site layout. "We stayed in the ridge loop, so not waterfront but within the campground there were so many things to do. The campsites are beautiful, even though there were a lot of people when we went we felt like we had a lot of privacy from our neighbors," writes Anne W. about Point Campground.

    What you should know

Reservation requirements: Book early for waterfront sites, especially during summer. "We wanted a waterfront site but even trying to reserve the first day we could for this weekend, they were all taken," explains Laure D. about Seven Points campground.

Water and electricity limitations: Facilities vary widely between campgrounds. "It's a primitive campground with no electricity. Get your water at a hand pump and they have pit toilets," notes Rebecca G. about Susquehannock. Bring appropriate supplies for your chosen location.

Road conditions: Some campgrounds require travel on unpaved roads. At Fowlers Hollow State Park Campground, "The road in is dirt which doesn't bother me, I just wanted to give the info," mentions Paul B. Plan vehicle access accordingly.
