Best RV Parks & Resorts near Greentown, PA

Several RV parks around Greentown, Pennsylvania provide full-hookup options for motorhomes and travel trailers. Thousand Trails Timothy Lake North and South campgrounds operate from May 1 to October 31, offering 50-amp electrical service, water, and sewer connections. Clayton Park RV Escape features level sites with 50-amp service, operating between May and mid-October. Blue Mountain RV Resort maintains year-round camping with spacious pull-through RV pads, though sites are primarily gravel with limited shade in some areas. A visitor noted that "most sites have full hookups with 50 amp electric only, so if needed have an adapter available at the small camp store."

Navigating to mountain campgrounds may require careful planning as some access roads include steep grades and sharp turns. One reviewer cautioned about a "hairpin turn and steep hill" when approaching Driftstone Campground with larger rigs. Dump stations are available at most parks, though lines can form during peak checkout times on summer weekends. Cell service varies significantly throughout the Pocono region—several campgrounds report weak or spotty coverage, particularly for AT&T users. Pet-friendly sites are common but often designated to specific camping loops or areas. Many RV parks in the area sell firewood on-site, and while weekend reservations fill quickly during fall foliage season, midweek availability typically remains open even during peak summer months.

    Stony MT Family Campground

    We’d do it again!

Not cheap but we’ll within area norms. This camp has many long term campers that are friendly and helpful and some have children with them. Some full-time rigs are weekend campers. Some weekend events are planned. Most sites have full hookups with 50 amp electric only so if needed have an adapter (available at the small camp store. We had an unplanned extension on our visit that included a weekend where a group was scheduled and the park was booked including our site. The friendly staff worked to ensure a temporary site for us for the weekend.

    Kymers Camping Resort

Fun, friendly & nestled in the woods

We stayed at Kymer's on a whim for a weekend, so we could be close to Mountain Creek for a Spartan Race. It truly exceeded our expectations in all aspects. This is a family friendly, camper-friendly place. Lots of seasonals- everyone waves, everyone stops to chat. This is what a campground should feel like. The sound of laughter and play sitting around the huge, clean pool was refreshing. Our site was Oak 10. It was level, good placement of electric water & sewer connects. Camp store has all the basics you might need. There is a brook that flows adjacent to the property. It's peaceful & magical. Pet friendly, although we didn't have our pup with us. We will be back again. I almost feel like I'm revealing a hidden gem with this post. 💎

    Mountain Vista Campground

    Mt Vista Campground

Beautiful Campground. Clean. Gravel sites. Fire ring and picnic table. All sites have ample room. Lots of pull through for bigger rigs. Wooded. Large dog park. Love the Campground except our site is near a fairly busy road which takes away from that beautiful tranquility. They have camouflaged it as best they could. Friendly staff. Lots to do. Pool, tennis. Sauna, pond for fishing ( catch & release ). Would definitely recommend.

    Stonybrook RV Resort

    This is a great place!

We spent four nights at Stonybrook RV Resort in Lehighton, PA, for a quiet wedding anniversary getaway— and so glad we did. We paid$150 per night total for a FHU 50 Amp Premium Back-in site (#F20). This campground makes a great home-base while hanging out in the Pocono Mountains.

    THINGS I LIKED:

    • This place is in super condition— everything works as it’s supposed to and is clean and maintained
    • The concrete pad/patio with Breeo smokeless fire pit, Adirondack chairs, and metal patio table and chairs made a great setup
    • Our site(F20) is level and beautiful— spacious and beautifully landscaped
    • We interacted with 5 members of their staff and all were welcoming and friendly to talk with
    • There’s a heated pool behind the office/store so it’s not noisy for campers at their sites

THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE SO MUCH:

    • Just one thing— the entrance made for a challenging entry up a steep grade, narrow roadway, and sharp turn in. I made it without problems, but it wasn’t easy in a 45’ motorhome towing a Jeep. This may be nitpicky— and I’m not complaining about it— just letting you know to expect it on arrival.

    WOULD WE COME BACK?

    • Absolutely, this is a great campground(I’ve already recommended it to my Newmar Kountry Klub chapter president as a possible site for a future rally).

    Tobyhanna State Park Campground

    Great family campground

This place only gets 4 stars because I thought we were going to have water and electric hook ups. They only have 2 kinds of sites, modern electric (only electric) and primitive. They have a potable water station and dump station and very few sites with electric hook up. They also have specific pet friendly sites. We had a wonderful time here. We went for Father’s Day weekend in June. The lake is gorgeous! Beachfront swimming and boat rentals, great biking and hiking trails. Sites are mostly separated by trees but are still close. Bath houses were very clean and they have a dish washing sink as well. Beach is within walking and biking distance. Two cons- Bath house at the beach is 50 cents for a 2-minute shower, so we just went back to the campground bath house to clean up. The playground near sites 53-56 is a little underwhelming. Otherwise was a great stay! We already booked another stay in September this year!

The Pines Campground — Promised Land State Park

Quiet, just remote enough, a Great Lake, and nice camp hosts

I stayed for three nights in a pull through trailer site with 50 AMP and 30 AMP electric. Easy to get in and out of, nice and shady, big spaces so you were not on top of one another, and nice and quiet. Clean and modern bath house, water close by, and great camp hosts. Definitely recommend it.

Lower Lake Campground Northwoods Area — Promised Land State Park

    Northwoods Campground

Big sites with 30 amp service available for RVs and trailers. Each site has a large picnic table and a fire ring with an adjustable grate. The pull-through sites don’t offer much in the way of privacy, but that’s the trade off for convenience. There are two potable water spigots in the campground. The bathhouse offers warm showers, 2 dishwashing sinks, and a coin-operated washer and dryer. The facilities are kept very clean. On the weekends it can get pretty crowded, so it tends to be louder at night then, but the camp hosts and the rangers do a good job of enforcing quiet hours. Access points to several trails are very near the campground. As with all PA state parks, alcohol is prohibited. The park doesn’t have a camp store, however, there is a small general store on Route 390 (The Lake Store) just north of the park that would have any essentials you may have forgotten, as well as ice for your cooler.

    Mahlon Dickerson Reservation

    Nice, small, spacious campground

We stayed at site 15 for 5 days. The sites are nicely wooded, very well spaced, fairly level with 50A service and water hookup. Although the water spigots were shared between sites, they provide hose caddies that should reach most RV hookups. No sewer hookup, but there is a convenient dump station. There are no fire rings in the RV section, only raised grills. We had the place pretty much to ourselves during the week, but the weekend did get busy. AT&T had ok data connection with 1-2 bars most of the time. There is no satellite coverage due to the heavy tree canopy. OTA TV was very inconsistent using an external omni antenna. There is no WiFi. There is a very nice network of trails in the reservation, most if not all were leashed dog friendly. There is a very nice restaurant, Stone Water, less than 10 miles away and is right on lake Hopatcong.

    Panther Lake Camping Resort

    Stayed all summer

We stayed at Panther Lake as full timers all season. Great during the week but very busy on weekends. Could be noisy with children not very well supervised.
Friendly, helpful staff. Cable TV poor when it rains. Cell service spotty all carriers. No internet at sites. Lake beautiful and pool nice.

Guide to Greentown

Seasonal RV sites near Greentown, Pennsylvania operate primarily between May and October, with most parks shutting down for winter. The Pocono Mountain region sits at elevations ranging from 1,300 to 1,800 feet, creating cool summer evenings even when daytime temperatures reach the 80s. Most campgrounds report frost potential through late May and again starting in early September.

What to do

Riverfront activities: Soaring Eagle Campground sits directly on the Delaware River, offering excellent fishing and paddling options. A camper noted, "Great river based location(Delaware River) bathhouse was very clean, very rustic, sites are huge, plenty of room for 2+ family campers."

Mountain biking: Blue Mountain RV Resort converts winter ski slopes into mountain biking trails during camping season. One visitor explained, "You can ride the ski lifts up to the top of the mountain then you get to bike down it, they have rental bikes available or bring your own."

Disc golf course: Blue Mountain RV and Camping Resort maintains a disc golf course on property. Reviewers appreciate how the campground combines multiple activities, with one stating, "There were endless activities from hiking to mountain biking. We visited in fall so we had the entire place to ourselves."

What campers like

Large, private sites: Campers consistently praise the spacious sites at Soaring Eagle Campground and the Inn at Kellam's Bridge. One camper shared, "The sites are larger than most campgrounds and well spaced out. I have been there on busy holiday weekends where it was full but still peaceful and private."

Clean facilities: Stonybrook RV Resort receives high marks for cleanliness. A reviewer commented, "The laundry area and shower rooms are beautiful and clean" while another added, "Shower/bathrooms are the best I've ever seen."

Fall camping: Thousand Trails Scotrun offers a less crowded fall camping experience. One visitor shared, "We came in at end of season, so pretty much everything seems closed. But, it's a beautiful campground and the part of PA is great too."

What you should know

Cell service challenges: Service varies widely by provider across Pocono campgrounds. At Thousand Trails Timothy Lake North, a camper reported, "No wifi but okay AT&T cell service," while at Timothy Lake South, another noted, "Cell service is awful for AT&T and our T-Mobile gateway. Had to move to a new site to get away from the trees to get starlink connectivity."

Site selection strategy: Timothy Lake South campground operates on a first-come basis rather than assigned sites. One RVer advised, "This is a first-come, first-serve park in the Thousand Trails system so we had to drive around looking for a spot. The check-in process alerted us to the sites that had issues such as no water or cable."

Highway noise concerns: Some campgrounds near highways experience significant noise. A reviewer at Tri-State RV Park stated, "Located just off the highway so lots of vehicle noise 24/7. Sites are on a gravel lot," while another noted it's "right off the interstate (you could actually feel the heavier trucks go by)."

Tips for camping with families

Playground options: Stonybrook RV Resort offers family-friendly amenities including "a nice playground and a GaGa pit." Another reviewer confirmed they have a "heated pool and playground."

Water activities: Clayton Park RV Escape offers multiple water-based recreation options. A visitor summarized the family activities as "Pool boats, hike, relax."

Entertainment facilities: Mountain Top RV Park provides indoor recreation spaces. A camper described, "There's also a nice lounge room with games, a pool table, a tv and puzzles/board games."

Tips from RVers

Entrance challenges: Mountain Top RV Park may present access difficulties. One RVer cautioned, "If you're booking, it may be best to book on the upper levels because the lower area where we were did flood pretty bad a couple times when there was a lot of rain."

Electrical requirements: Most campgrounds offer 50-amp service rather than 30-amp. A Stonybrook RV Resort visitor reported their site had "FHU 50 Amp Premium Back-in site (#F20). This campground makes a great home-base while hanging out in the Pocono Mountains."

RV parking terrain: Site surfaces vary significantly between campgrounds. One RVer at Tri-State RV Park described it as "just a parking lot with hookups" while another called it "perfect for the commuting RVers just looking for somewhere safe to sleep for the night."
