It was a great.fathersday weekend with my boys. The view of the ocean is spectacular and everything in town is walking distance. The hot tub showers and laundry were all clean and nice. My rig was too big but the staff was super accommodating. I had a great time.

Tidy cosy clean friendly RV park

It was wonderful stay… very well looked after place with a nice newspaper delivery in the morning. Staff was super dog loving and friendly. There were little dog fenced areas, which is super thoughtful. The tv park so beautiful planted, reception has this cosy communal area with kitchen, living room ( books dvds games TV) clean showers and spa ( hot tub) , clean laundry room. Super great communication with staff via online. Perhaps only small things like very busy street near by ( which u can’t hear when u are in RV park) and WiFi is weak. The rest is AMAZING !!!!! Thank u !

    Thousand Trails Pacific City

    Quiet stay in the woods

This campground is absolutely beautiful to me. It's nestled in the woods next to the beach with the cute little town of Pacific City just 5 minutes away. The staff was very friendly. We have yet to meet an unfriendly staff member at a Thousand Trails campground. There are two entrances... Just make sure you go in the one with the big sign. The other is actually used moreso as an exit. Some of the roads get a bit steep so be slow and cautious. We have a 38' rig. If you have a bigger rig we were told to avoid the Section I because it's hard to turn around. We went towards Section E instead. With a 2 week stay we needed sewer hookups which are very limited. We got space E1 which was fairly private, full hookups, 50 amp, and right by the bathrooms too. If you come to Section E do NOT turn around at the bathroom. It's too tight. Go straight to the turnaround at the end and come back. We saw way too many people almost trash their rigs. It looks like there are some higher up spots that have amazing views but they were all already taken. Limited services at them though.

The facilities all looked great! Well kept and nice. The lodge is the one place with internet since the repeaters weren't functional yet. Someone mentioned people keep hitting them too much to get them up and running yet. The  indoor pool is clean and next to an outdoor hot tub. Some of the recreational amenities are a bit worn but I can understand not keeping them up as it doesn't seem like people use them much anyways. There are a few spots to just sit and look out at the ocean that we enjoyed. There's also a nice trail that goes down to the ocean. You do cross the road so just watch out there. It's marked for cars to be aware too.

The sand dunes nearby are a great spot to see. We also hung out for a bit at the beach in Pacific City. Tillamook is a short drive and worth the trek as well as Cape Meares to the north.

    Lincoln City KOA

Lincoln City! Need I say more?!

Its Lincoln City- the smaller sister city to Newport. Nice calming views and beach for days! They have the glass globe drops throughout the winter season and if you find one you keep it!! We didn't find one but we always have fun looking!! It is Oregon coast so it colder than California coast, and usually raining! So extra coat is a must!!

    Emergency stay

We needed some RV repairs and rented a spot in Lincoln City at Premier to stay while getting them done. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and the facilities clean and comprehensive. It’s a bit less private and less natural than our preferred choice, but it ended up being perfect for our needs as we could walk to the market, the beach and even some restaurants and shopping. If you like quiet do not rent one of the spaces up front. The back of the park is much quieter and more treed.

    Premier RV Resort

    Good Base Camp

Our stay at the Lincoln City Premier RV Resort was good.  The space was clean and the utility hookups were well maintained and functional.  And, staff were very nice and accommodating.  We upgraded to a pull through and in hindsight should not have.  It was close to the road, and many of the trailers in the pull through section appeared to be long term occupants, at least a couple left early in the morning for work and returned in the afternoon.  The location although easy to get both north and south from because it is adjacent to the highway, was in a part of town that seemed a little economically depressed.  I would have rated it higher but for the price, I expected more.  UPDATE  We visited this park for a second time in 2023 and selected a back in site near the north east section of the park and loved it.  We are changing our rating to five stars.

    Very open

We had an okay time at this site. It’s very open, but not unpleasant. They have full hook-ups, cable tv and boat rentals. The cell service wasn’t great. They also have cabins for rent. It’s right on the river and there are cute little otters that like to show off for the guests.

    Waldport KOA

    Bridge view

This campground is located just on the north side of the Waldport bridge. It doesn't offer beach front access, but it is right on the river. With a short walk to the beach. My only gripe is that the tent sites are right on top of each other without much privacy. I'm noticing that is expected with a lot of the KOA's. If you're not spending a lot of time at the site it's not a huge deal anyway. They offer cabins of different sizes, haven't stayed in one as yet, but plan to some day. There is also a small convenient store on site as well as nice clean, hot showers, flush toilets and laundry machines. Very family friendly and a nice scenic view of Walport and inlet.

    PROS:

    • convenient store on site
    • Hot showers
    • Cabins and bike rentals

    CONS:

    • No beachfront sites
    • Tent pad lack of privacy
    • Price

    Lincoln City KOA

Ranger Review: GCI Outdoor Pod Rocker at KOA Lincoln City

    Campground Review:

This KOA was such a change from the developed and“overly urban” feel of most KOA establishments. It has a few of the KOA norms: cabins, playground, in-campground store, nice showers, and laundry facilities. However other than that it is a very beautiful and lushly forested site, with some of the tent sites backing up to a creek. The RV sites have great level and graveled parking areas, a large grassy area behind each campsite, and picnic table and fire pit. The store had a good supply of basic needs and also a good selection of beer!(which is a necessity on any camping trip:) The maintenance on the sites and grounds was tip top, and during our stay I personally witnessed lawn mowing, bathroom cleaning, and other general maintenance tasks being taken care of on a regular basis. My son enjoyed playing on the equipment and we also enjoyed sitting around the campfire in the evening. This was a really nice KOA off the main drag, but close enough to Lincoln City so as to experience the many tourist attractions and beaches. We even went and drove on the beach!

    **Product Review: **

On occasion I receive gear to test out and review from The Dyrt, and on this camping trip I reviewed the GCI Outdoor Pod Rocker, and WOW! It blew my expectations away! I have used many different types of folding chair in my life, and so far none can compare to the GCI Pod Rocker!

This chair is so compact that it folds up into its own shoulder bag just like any other folding chair, but it has the added perk of being constructed of powdered coated steel making it very durable. It has two springs attached to the rear main structure which allows someone to rock back and forth. It is a sling-style chair, but the great thing about the way it is designed is that it has subtle arm rests sewn into the fabric that actually work very well. The rocking is described on the website as being able to“Rock on any surface”, and they aren't kidding! I used this chair on sand, grass, slopes, and even in a river-rock-covered river bed, 3 inches submerged in the water! This thing is very well made, and takes my 200 Lbs easily and keeps on rocking! It includes nice breathable mesh at certain points and dries really fast if wet also. The only downside is that a smaller person may have a hard time getting the chair to rock with only their weight alone. It seems designed for larger people which is great for me, but may be a deterrent for smaller folk. This chair so far has withstood heavy use over a 3 week road trip, and I don’t doubt that it will continue to perform.

On a small tangent, when sitting in the river, I had my phone dangling in the accessory pocket playing music. When I was swimming, the wind suddenly gusted and flung the chair forward, splashing down hard in the water! I don’t know if the holder was designed to do this, but as the chair fell, it used the water to flip up and keep my phone high and dry, saving my phone from a watery grave! I doubt they advertise this as a perk, but I was more than thrilled. Buy this chair if you want comfort, durability, and style.

    Cape Lookout State Park Campground

    Incredible location for rustic cabins!

When we Stayed: Early December, Wednesday-Friday

Overall Experience: secluded cabins made for a private, relaxing trip.

Cabins: there is a group of cabins away from the main campground so they're quiet and private. We had a shower, toilet and kitchenette. The parking lot is a bit of a walk from the cabins but they provide wheelbarrows to haul your stuff up to the cabin.

Location: a quick walk down to the beach and easy hiking trails in the woods. The cabins were up on a bluff in the woods so you could just barely see the ocean through the trees.

    Cute cabin!

We headed to the Pacific City in search of fresh air in mid September when much of Oregon was consumed by wildfire smoke. The friendly staff at Cape Kiwanda RV Resort were very welcoming and we opted to stay in one of their cute cabins as rain was forecasted. Cabin N was comfortable and had electric heat, a TV, dorm fridge, microwave, porch swing, outdoor water, BBQ grill, picnic table and outdoor firepit.  The campground had cute wild bunnies hoping around, and amenities such as a playground, full market, and pool.  It's located a quick walk from a beautiful sandy beach, brew pub, coffee shop and other convenient options are nearby.

    Wonderful getaway

We stayed in a cabin overlooking the beach. Build a fire at night, watch the stars and listen to the waves crashing in. The cabin was small, a little cramped with 4 adults but is was comfortable and had a little kichen and bath with shower. It is pretty private as well. You need to bring your own linens. Scenic hiking all along the area, Cape Meares is nearby as is Tillamook Cheese Factory, always fun to stop in. Cabins book months ahead and price was reasonable, but you have to plan for it.

    Wonderful!

We stayed in a cabin here. The cabin was great, perfect size for relaxing for a few days. The kitchen/fridge/front porch grill were great. Full bathroom. We used an air mattress on the bed over the pad that was provided.

The trees/forest were beautiful, and so was the ocean, which is a short walk away. You can sit on the front porch and watch the sunset through the trees while listening to crashing waves. That's hard to beat! We also hiked to Cape Lookout (a little over 9 miles out and back from the cabin). Great vacation!

    Love this beach campground!

This is a beautiful park.  We've stayed here several times over the years.  My favorite is when I am able to snag a cabin reservation, but tent camping is also very pleasant here.  We're headed back later this summer and I can't wait.

The cabins are located near the day use area, but are back in the trees and feel very private.  There used to be only 3, but I believe there are 7 now.  They are all spaced apart from each other to not feel like you are right next to anyone.  Each cabin has a separate living room space, bedroom, and bathroom with shower, sink, and toilet.  The living room space also has a sink, a microwave, and a small fridge.  The cabins each have a gas grill on the porch as well.

It's about 50-60 yards through to trees to the beach, so the views from the front rooms and porches is amazing!  It's like the best compromise between camping and a motel.  The price is right and the location can't be beat.

We have also enjoyed tent camping many times as well.  The campsites are well maintained and it's easy to get to the beach from camp.

    Definitely recommend this campground.

    Cape Lookout State Park Campground

    Quintessential Ocean Front Campground

After visiting several Oregon Coast state parks and campgrounds, I must say that this campground is in its own class in terms of scenic beauty and accessibility to the beach, which is linked by several hiking trails, including the famous Cape Lookout trail that takes one to the tip of the peninsula for great whale watching, a seasonal waterfall, and fun small coves unveiled during lower tide.

We did not stay within the campsite, however walking through it we were impressed by the relative peace and quiet even during the summer, the number of campgrounds more secluded in the interior areas and those that neighbored majestic old-growth fir trees.  We would definitely want to return and stay in one of the few highly coveted cabins that are on the north end of the state park.  From the exterior, they appear to have ample front porches for barbeques with family and friends, and each cabin is strategically spaced to allow for maximum views.

Whenever we have tried booking a campsite it has been a challenge due to its popularity, so doing so well in advance is advised!

    Cape Lookout State Park Campground

    Sunset views from your tent

This campground is one of my top five faves. Right behind the dunes, bathroom with showers, shady spots and sunny spots, just right for any season. Yurts and cabins - you’ll be able to book if you’re fast enough. It’s an always booked out gem at the pacific coast!

    Love this Campground!

We have stayed at Pacific City a few times now and I love the campground! They have a large jacuzzi and an indoor pool! They are doing some maintenance this year but thankfully it hasn’t been a bother for us. I would say though that the internet/cell service this year has been an issue. We work from home and normally would not have any issues with having internet. This year though, we have absolutely no cell service at the campground and the Free Wifi has been non-existent. But we found a nice little library in town that has free WiFi for when we need to get some work done!

    Great Coastal Campground

Barviews Jetty Campground, is one of the best camping spots. The campground has a combination of tent sites and rv sites. additionally there are cabins available. There are restrooms located throughout the campground, and showers, always clean. Located very close to the beach, super close. There is also FANTASTIC fishing! Pet Friendly! Large campsites! At a lot of camp sites there is even room to have tents and an RV!

    Camper Cove RV park

    101 camping

Beautiful area, good hosts, and it’s a clean campground. There are 2 bathrooms, and 2 coin operated showers in addition to outhouses, which get full fast depending on campers. The road noise is pretty loud due to the highway being right there on the camping side of the campground. Air brakes are not the best at night. Booo. The cabins are far enough away from the road noise, but have a lot of spiders 🕷

    Thousand Trails Pacific City

Best camping on the Oregon Coast

Lots of options here. Tent sites and small cabins that are somewhat private. There are good bathrooms with showers on site, a sand volleyball court, a store, little wild bunnies running around, and great fire pits at each site. What more could you ask for!? The ocean is a 5 minute walk from the site and you can rent sandboards to ride down the dunes of Cape Kiwanda (it's a serious workout!). Not to be missed.
