Best RV Parks & Resorts near New London, OH

Several RV campgrounds serve the New London area with varying amenities and site configurations. Cedarlane RV Resort in Port Clinton features 300 full hookup sites open from May to mid-October, accommodating large motorhomes with spacious pull-through options. Gotta Getaway RV Park in Bellevue offers 102 sites with electric hookups, water connections, and fire rings, though the sites tend to be closer together than at larger resorts. Riverview RV Park in Vermilion provides sewer hookups and accommodates big rigs with level sites near water features. Whispering Hills Jellystone Park near Loudonville includes both pull-through and back-in RV sites with 50-amp service. "Our site was really big and shaded. We have a small camper, but there was plenty of space. There is a slight downhill grade, but definitely not a turn off."

Dump stations are available at most parks in the region, though facilities vary in quality and accessibility. Many campgrounds within 30 miles of New London close seasonally between October and May, with limited winter camping options. Cell service can be inconsistent, particularly at parks near Mohican State Forest where one reviewer noted "no cell service with Verizon." Pet policies differ between facilities, with most allowing dogs but imposing breed restrictions or designated pet areas. Full hookup sites typically command premium pricing compared to electric-only options, especially during summer weekends and holiday periods. When navigating to certain parks, be aware that some access roads feature narrow lanes or challenging turns that may prove difficult for larger Class A motorhomes or fifth wheels with extended length.

    Amish Country Campsites

    Amish campsite

Very small campgrounds literally next to if not part of a corn field extremely cramped back if our camper was 2ft from the camper behind us and 15 ft from the campers left to right. When we left we had to knock on camper doors to ask folks to move their cars so we could pull out of out parking spot. The other campers were very nice lots of local folks they were fun to talk to. The camp site did have clean showers. Hot water. And. Clean restroom facilities. The dump station isn’t the best it is on a hill so dumping ones waste tanks completely could be a challenge The owners were polite but short The sites aren’t the best the electric is only 30 amp. And very dated they did have water hookups at each site. I didn’t take any pictures as there wasn’t anything to see at the campground other than campers packed in like sardines It is close to town and the shops. Everything closed at 5:00 including gas stations As they say any port in a storm. So as a last resort I guess it’s is okay. Just don’t plan to leave after 5:00 pm unless you have a full tank of gas. No ada camp sites. They are pet friendly

    River Trail Crossing

    Nice little campground

River Trail Crossing is privately owned, small campground (which we like) but nice and quiet. Sites include tents, small rigs and large pull through sites for big rigs. Sites located on the river are water and electric. Sites off the river have 50 amp and 30 amp. State route 95 runs to the right of the campsite so if you reserve any sites on the river (right side) you will have some traffic noise from the bridge. We reserved spot 32, farthest site to the right on the river. We loved it. The river was only about knee to hip deep. Most family’s floated with tubes and saw some kayaks. Not much for fishing at this particular section of the river. There is a paved bike/walking trail behind the campground - B&O trail. Bathrooms and showers were very clean. They do have 2 dumpsites available. We really enjoyed this campground, owners were very friendly and offer firewood and propane if needed. Mohican state park is only 10-15 minutes away which is really nice for hiking and fishing as well. We will be back!

    Gotta Getaway RV Park

    Ok

This was an overnight stay on our way to Pennsylvania. It would be a bonus for big rigs as the pull Throughs are flat and easy to get into. We tend to prefer a back in because it usually gives us a bit more protection on the backside. Unfortunately, the site we were assigned took three blocks to level up, the the power was on the wrong side and our picnic table was in the back area of another camper. The bathroom was nice and close and handy. Some great effort has been made to make it attractive with two-tone tile but that is all overshadowed by the amount of spiders and bugs. I am a full-time RV year and shower all over the United States and this was one of the buggiest ever. The majority of this campground is for seasonals. There are some very nice seasonal lots with a small pond in their back Yard. The owner was very friendly and helpful on the phone. Serves a variety of needs.

    Lighthouse Point at Cedar Point

    Immaculate!

Absolutely beautiful RV park! Gorgeous views of Lake Erie and walking distance to the gate of Cedar Point. Beautiful landscaping and very clean. Staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Good little camp store with reasonable(ish) prices. Too chilly to swim but the pool looks nice. Bathhouses are updated, clean and very nice, but pretty far from about half of the sites. One section has premium sites with upgraded grills and fire pits and crazy good lake views. The regular sites are still well landscaped and each have a grill and an extra long picnic table, but no fire pit. You can bring your own fire pit if your site doesn't have one. No bikes or golf carts allowed on the grounds, but there are Cedar Point buses available day & night as well as rickshaws during the day. Until now I have held Disney World's Fort Wilderness as the penultimate place for camping but they could learn a few things from Cedar Point! We stayed five nights in a pull through sites, #231. I would love to snag a premium site for our next trip but it may be difficult because they allow you to book up five years in advance!

    Timber Ridge Campgrounds

    Great Experience

We stayed at Timber Ridge for a month and found this to be a very nice campground. Stores are very level, full hookups, fishing pond, amazing indoor swimming pool. Staff was extremely nice. Many if the campers are long term but have several overnight doors as well.

We stayed in a 29ft Travel Trailer, but sites could handle the largest of rigs.

    Mohican State Park Campground

    Winter Time But No Snow

We stayed on a full hook up site (turned off for the season) that had a nice concrete level pad. There was also a nice side pad that kept our chairs clean. A little further back in the campground to be close to the shower house that was open. Then found out that comfort station next to us was open - nice! Also close the water which was full and rushing all weekend.

The camp store was open on the weekend and the staff was nice to chat with. They had wood, but it was slab cut which doesn’t burn very well. We decided against it. Lots of snacks and other items still available.

Some sites were really close to the water, almost too close as the water flooded a few spots. The campground is nice to walk if you like to get in a little workout. They also have small camper cabins and them much bigger cabins which a few are pet friendly.

We went on a hike by the covered bridge to one of the waterfalls. Lots of trials to choose from.

    East Harbor State Park Campground

    East harbor state park

Very clean. Close to everything you need close to ferry clean showers camp monitors were friendly sites are paved. 50/30 amp hookups Our site was just a standard electric site. They do have 150 full hook up sites or more. We made our reservations late we were not really concerned about water or sewer as we planned to use the camp ground facilities anyway. Fresh water is available to fill your holding tanks. Dump stations are easily acceptable as are water filling stations Big Boopers restaurant is a great place for breakfast lunch or dinner. If you do t feel like cooking it’s about a 10 min drive. Campground has very good WiFi. We have Verizon had very good reception inland and I. The islands. Bass island is a fun day trip. Sites were level left to right. Had a slight pitch front to back.

Guide to New London

Camping options near New London, Ohio range from lakeside retreats to Amish Country getaways, offering both seasonal and year-round access for RVers and tent campers. Most campgrounds in the region are accessible from May through October, with sites ranging from basic water/electric setups to full-service RV spots. Winter camping is limited to select facilities like Evergreen Park RV Resort, which maintains open sites during colder months.

What to do

Fishing and water activities: Kokosing River Campground offers access to a peaceful lake with good kayaking opportunities. "Kayaking on the lake is great. Camp staff very friendly and helpful," notes Mark B., who visited during Labor Day weekend.

Bike trail access: River Trail Crossing provides direct access to the paved B&O Trail for cycling enthusiasts. "Bike trail access right from the campground. Golf nearby, Amish shops, canoeing. Great area to visit, we will return," shares Bob M., who stayed at a riverfront spot.

Amish Country exploration: Evergreen Park RV Resort places campers in the heart of Amish Country. "The campground is right in the middle of Amish Country so there's plenty of beautiful scenery, lots of shopping, wonderful roadside produce and cheese stands and other tourist hotspots so you won't be bored," explains Bob R., who visits regularly in fall.

Winter recreation: Unlike most seasonal options, winter camping is available at select locations. "We camped here the second weekend in December and had the park mostly to ourselves. The game room was nice as well as the indoor pool. The park is in Amish areas so there is plenty of shopping to do," reports Andrea F. about her winter stay at Evergreen Park.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Cedarlane RV Resort earns praise for maintenance and cleanliness. "The pools and bathrooms were clean. They have water and electric hookups. My daughter had fun doing the gem mining and playing in the pool and splash pad," reports Ashley R., who visited with her family.

Family entertainment: Whispering Hills Jellystone offers numerous activities for families. "Great activities including mini golf, pool, jumping pad and frisbee golf. Cabins and RV spots available and the staff is friendly, grounds are clean and nicely kept," shares Kayla S.

Waterfront sites: River Trail Crossing offers riverfront camping options with water access. "We had a riverfront spot for 4 nights, enjoyed our stay. 30amp, but the AC was still effective on a couple hot days," explains Bob M., who appreciated the location despite summer heat.

Quiet atmosphere: Fort Firelands RV Park provides a peaceful setting with water views. "We had the best lot in the place! We were on the end (which is always a plus for us), and were able to see Lake Erie! Very Quiet," shares Lisa K., who appreciated the well-maintained grounds.

What you should know

Site conditions vary widely: While many campgrounds advertise pull-through sites, levelness can be inconsistent. "Unfortunately, the site we were assigned took three blocks to level up, the power was on the wrong side and our picnic table was in the back area of another camper," notes Sue B. about her stay at Gotta Getaway RV Park.

Bathroom facilities: Sandusky Milan RV Park demonstrates how maintenance can vary significantly between visits. "Clean bathrooms/showers, mostly level sites, full hook ups available," reports Tracey S., while another camper noted maintenance issues after busy holiday weekends.

Seasonal closures: Most campgrounds in the region close between mid-October and early May. River Trail Crossing operates from May 1 to October 16, while Cedarlane RV Resort runs from May 1 to October 15.

Site spacing concerns: Space between sites can be tight at many locations. "Nice, small, shaded, well maintained campground. Wasn't crowded when we visited in Sep. but I can imagine when it's full it's a little crowded," observes Shelly S. about Kokosing River Campground.

Tips for camping with families

Water recreation options: Whispering Hills Jellystone RV Park offers multiple ways for kids to enjoy water activities. "My boys were able to walk across the road to get to the pond that was well stocked with fish. It was catch and release but they were very excited to pull in some big ones," shares Emily about their family experience.

Kid-friendly amenities: Cedarlane RV Resort provides specialized facilities for different age groups. "They have a small convenience store on site that's reasonably priced. They have an adults only pool as well for those looking for a break from all the kids," notes Ashley R.

Off-season visiting: Consider shoulder seasons for a less crowded experience when RV camping near New London. "We stayed till weds and the rest of the time was very nice. The pools and bathrooms were clean," reports a camper who arrived on Saturday but found the campground much quieter by Sunday.

Indoor options: Evergreen Park RV Resort maintains indoor facilities year-round. "The indoor pool is great for enjoying a swim even in January and the bathrooms and showers are spotless and very private," explains a camper who appreciates the all-season amenities.

Tips from RVers

Electric considerations: Fort Firelands RV Park uses 50-amp service that may require adapters. "They only had 50w outlets, but will lend you a converter for $15.00, which is refundable upon leaving," advises Lisa K., helpful for RVers with 30-amp systems.

Sewer connections: Facilities with full hookups typically command premium pricing but save hassle. "This campground does not have sewage and pumps you out twice a week if seasonal and yearly. If you need a pump out it 20$ for emergency situations," explains Jason D. about Riverview RV Park's services.

Site selection strategy: Sunset Springs RV Resort offers premium waterfront locations. "We arrived and were able to upgrade to site #1 due to a cancellation, overlooking the Ohio River. No one between us and the river, and we had a grand view," shares Robert T. about securing a prime spot.

Seasonal considerations: For RVers seeking extended stays, seasonal options exist but may require extra work. "Your are responsible for maintaining and cutting grass for your campground if you are seasonal to yearly, which is crazy since it's not our grass," notes a reviewer about policies at some parks.
