    Cross Creek Camping Resort

Big Resort with lots of trees

This is a RV resort close to a lake with a lot of seasonal campers. It is busy on the weekend but was very quiet during the week. The sites are close, but not unreasonably close. Good mix of pull through and back in and is big rig friendly. Plenty to do for the kids. Pool looks nice, was not open yet for the season.

    Hocking River RV Park

Scenic, easy in/out and on the river

Stayed here 4 nights, pull through spots require a little bit of maneuvering with big rig (43’ fifth wheel). There was some mud where camper wheels were situated in the spot (needs material). Fire rings are not near RV but behind across the road on the river. Bath house is just ok - not great, not gross. Close proximity to lots of hiking but Hocking Hills itself has become so crowded… don’t come if you want to get away from people.

    Beechwood Acres Camping Resort

    Small, But Great Family Spot!

This is a great place to take the kids. We go here every year. They have an in-ground pool, a small store for camping needs, firewood delivery and propane refills. Cell service here is awful and there is no WiFi. The antenna will pick up several local channels. There is a Dollar General about 10 mins away for grocery needs. They have several pull-through and full hookup options as well. Sites are somewhat level. This park has beautiful landscaping that is always meticulously maintained. They also host events and if you check their event calendar on their website, you can see what’s going on during your stay. We were fortunate enough to see the band Timestamp and loved it! They even had a community bonfire!

    Hocking Hills KOA Holiday

    Great first time KOA experience

We have never stayed at a KOA before and were very happy with this campground. The staff were friendly and professional, the sites were clean, and there were a wide variety of sites to choose from. From primitive tent sites tucked back in the woods to large RV sites with water/sewer/electric/cable hookups. We are first-time owners of a 29 ft Fifth Wheel and got a pull-through site. It offered little in the way of privacy, which was the only negative about the whole experience. Our site included a fire ring and a picnic table, along with all the hook ups. The night we arrived we were too tired to cook so ordered a pizza from the front office and they delivered it to our site. They also deliver wood directly to you. They escort you directly to your site so you don't get lost or go down a one-way road the wrong way. There was a nice little pool, but it wasn't open for the season yet. The shower houses were immaculate. The front office includes a little gift shop, ice cream, and pizza. This campground was also located close (within a few miles) to all the main hiking trails, and about 12 miles from Logan. The little road going up to the campground is VERY bumpy. It's not the campground road, it belongs to the Township, so its completely out of their ability to make improvements. This was only our second time out in our fifth wheel camper so it was a little scary, but we just drove slow and our truck handled it just fine. We will definitely be back to this wonderful campground as we love Hocking Hills.

    Hocking Hills State Park Campground

    Would stay again

This walk in camp ground was located just minutes from Old Man’s Cave. It’s a family friendly and pet friendly camp ground. Our stay was quiet and relaxing.

    Cross Creek Camping Resort

    Excellent Campground!

Cross Creek Camping Resort in Delaware, Ohio is a very nice campground with friendly staff and lots of amenities! There are large back-in and pull-thru sites, each with grass, tree, picnic table, and fire pit. They are 30/50 amp with FHU. The campground has lots of fun things for the family such as swimming pool, playground, basketball, tennis, dog run, laundry, yard games, and so much more! The store is stocked with snacks, souvenirs, clothing, camping supplies, holiday decor, etc. We love the large shade trees at every site. It is a blessing on those hot summer days. All in all, a great campground! Check it out when in the area. 👍🏻😉

    Berkshire Campgrounds

    Incorrect pricing

The price advertised on The Dyrt is incorrect. It is not $38.50/day. We paid $50.29 with full hook ups. Very clean, staff very nice, but guests are not allowed without registering at the office. Many seasonal/full time residents which made for quite a bit of early morning traffic. Beautiful fishing pond with well groomed trails. Dogs are allowed off leash on the trails. Staff very pet friendly and courteous. Well appointed camp store. Water pressure excellent. Electric well within standard. Gravel pads, our site was off 2”.

    Tree Haven Campground

    Great first RV experience.

Great little campground. My wife and I spent a month out there in a fifth wheel to see if we like the lifestyle. Very nice pool(clean). Great walking trail back through the woods. Pet friendly and the bathrooms were very nice. Well....I guess we did! We are now in a search for a Diesel pusher to go full-time!

Guide to Mount Sterling

Mount Sterling serves as a hub for several RV campgrounds in west-central Ohio, with most locations situated within a 45-minute drive of town. The region features relatively flat terrain with elevations around 900 feet above sea level, providing easy access for larger RVs. Summer temperatures typically range from 75-85°F during peak camping season, while spring and fall can see significant temperature swings.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: At Sky Lake Resort and Fishing, campers enjoy multiple connected lakes with excellent fishing access. "We loved our time at Sky Lake! It's a beautiful property, well maintained, and easy to make a reservation," notes reviewer Brittany S.

River activities: Hocking River RV Park offers direct river access for kayaking and canoeing. "This small and cost effective campground is so awesome! The river is small and is perfect to have a fire right next to. We also just went up the highway a little to a rafting rental place called murrys landing to raft down the river," shares Aysia C.

Family recreation: Many campgrounds offer activities beyond traditional camping. "Fun location just off the highway. Perfect for a family, has swimming pool, putt putt, and other child friendly activities... also has small fishing pond," reports Buck B. about Tomorrow's Stars RV Resort.

What campers like

Clean, well-maintained facilities: Campgrounds near Mount Sterling often receive praise for upkeep. "The bathrooms were nice though. No playground which made camping with kids very uneventful for them," notes one camper about Hocking River RV Park.

Spacious sites: Thousand Trails Wilmington offers roomier camping spots. "This is a very quiet campground with spacious sites on Loop C. The pool is large and heated," says Susan B. The campground is approximately 30 miles from Mount Sterling.

Quiet atmosphere: Many campers appreciate the peaceful settings. "This was the first stay of my full time RV life. I'm glad I started here. It's nice and quiet. People seem to be very friendly," writes Emerson F. about their stay at Thousand Trails Wilmington.

What you should know

Reservation systems vary: Some rv campgrounds near Mount Sterling require advance planning. Jackson Lake Park offers online reservations but campers note, "Easy access to sites. Staff could take a lesson in hospitality and giving directions on park."

Hookup quality differences: Water and electric connections can vary significantly between parks. "The sites are very close together - one family moved in late at night practically on top of me - their tent was literally 4 feet from my picnic table," explains one camper about certain sites at Hocking River RV Park.

Seasonal operation: Several campgrounds in the region close during winter months. Thousand Trails Wilmington operates from April 17 to October 30, while some other RV campgrounds near Mount Sterling maintain year-round operations with reduced services during colder months.

Tips for camping with families

Swimming options: Jackson Lake Park offers a swimming pond and activities for children. "All around a beautiful area I was just very disappointed that the pool was closed! Very please with the stay so far," mentions Madison.

Arcade activities: Some campgrounds provide indoor entertainment options. "Lots of fun for kids with the swimming pond and arcade. As a moto camper, we really lucked out with a flat plot and didn't have anyone in the spots next to us," notes Jess N. about Jackson Lake Park.

State park proximity: For additional recreation opportunities, "We like the location to the State park nearby for hiking trails and mountain biking trails (Ceasar Creek)," says Melissa T. about Thousand Trails Wilmington, highlighting options beyond campground boundaries.

Tips from RVers

Level sites: RV campers emphasize the importance of site leveling. At Deer Creek Camping Resort, "Our site was HUGE! The pad was very level, so setting up the TT was quick and easy," according to Kim H.

Water fill considerations: Some campgrounds have limited central water fill stations. "The only negative was the lack of a central fresh water fill station. Spigots are dispersed throughout the camp, which means sitting in the road for as long as it takes to fill your tank," notes a reviewer at Deer Creek Camping Resort.

Self-check-in availability: Some Mount Sterling area RV parks offer convenient arrival procedures. "The one thing I really liked was that the entire reservation and check-in process was online, you didn't have to check in at the office, just put your info into the website and you were all set, which is really nice after a long drive," shares Gregory L. about Sky Lake Resort.
