Description

We welcome all campers to the Hocking Hills! If you are looking for a campground with some shade trees or a little space between the sites…look no further…We are about 8 miles from Old Man's cave…other Cave systems are even closer!

Palmerosa Campground / Hocking Hills has been around for many years as a horse camp. Although we do not have horses of our own here at the campground; there are local operators that are near to us that you can reserve a horse to ride the trails as part of a guided tour. We can also recommend a guide that will come to the campground to lead you and your own horse out on the Horse/Bridle trials. (Email us for details).

We not only accommodate the horse community, but we also welcome all RV, Travel Trailers, and tent campers. Most sites will accommodate up to 50 ft. Lengths easily. We have few sites that can accommodate up to 70 ft. in combined lengths. All electric sites are 30 AMP Service.

We offer 44 camping sites (14 with electric/water hook-up. All sites can be reserved for tent camping. There are 2 water spigots towards the rear of the campground in the primitive tent section also.

We have 2 newly remodeled and fully appointed cabins with safe options for tending to your horses if you are here for trail rides and so much more! NEW STALLS CONSTRUCTED CLOSE TO THE CABINS!!! Parking at the cabins is limited to truck or car only. We have an additional space designated for your trailer that is near the cabin area.

We also offer an offsite cabin: Trails Edge Cabin Located 1/2 mile from the campground. This cabin is a 5-bedroom cabin that sleeps 10 people. Large turnout field if you have horses and 8 stalls in the barn that can be used during the stay. No horses are required to stay at this property.

We have 3 lockable private shower rooms with flushable toilets and vanities for guests to use which are located at the front office building. There are 3 vault privies (outhouses) and 2 RV dump stations at the campground.

A horse-friendly campground with well-spaced, shaded sites that has undergone major improvements. New owners have rebuilt facilities including modern private bathrooms, though older reviews noted previous facility issues. Guests commonly noted excellent hospitality and scenic trail access.

Good things in small package

Stayed at this small campground. Proof good things can come in small packages. Great spot for horse camping, they have plenty of dedicated horse stalls. Gravel pads for electric/water sites are fairly level. My review is biased a bit, 1st night I was literally the only person camping. Plenty of nearby trails. Since it was so quiet in campground I saw wildlife like deer, turkeys, and they must have a resident pileated woodpecker because I keep seeing it. Branson (staff) who checked me in was very friendly and helpful. Three shower/bathrooms are very nice up by the office. They also have some outhouse style bathrooms further back in campground. Would definitely stay again if I can snag a site.

Thank you for the great review! We are a small campground by design. When we purchased the campground in 2023, it needed a lot of work and to be brought up to the 2020 codes. We could have added about 50 more sites however we chose to keep space between campers along with keeping as many trees as we could for shade. This is our vision of camping along with nature! We are glad that you gave us a try and were happy with your stay! We look forward to your return the next time you are visiting the Hocking Hills!

Picturesque Hocking HIlls retreat

While we are not horsemen, my husband and I so enjoyed our stay at this remote and picturesque campground. The property reflects great pride and financial investment: nicely-appointed and immaculate bathroom facilities; well-spaced campsites; classy equine stalls; and accommodating service second to none. Highly recommended!

Thank you for leaving us a great review of our campground! We are working hard to make this a destination for all campers to want to visit each time they return to the Hocking Hills! We have only owned the campground for a couple years now and we have already seen multiple return guests! This makes us happy that all of our hard work is noticed by our guests and they keep returning several times a season. We welcome all types of campers, not only horse campers. The mix of campers have made this a great campground to enjoy by all.

Palmerosa Campground updated

The new owners of the Palmerosa Campground have put a lot of time and money into this campground! Almost everything has been tore down and rebuilt. The new shower house at the office is great! You have your own shower , toilet and vanity in a locked room!

The old horse stalls have been torn down and 28 new covered stalls have been built! They are amazing and plenty if room for larger horses.

They have 14 water and electric sites with plenty of shade trees. 30 primitive tent sites also with plenty of shade!!

This campground is a true hidden oasis! It won’t be long before other campers discover this peace on earth place!!

Needs work

Stayed one week with horses, corral falling down, outhouses and shower facilities beyond gross. 3/4 mile from trails, had to ride along very narrow road. Only saw owner once. There are better places to stay and enjoy riding at Hocking Hills. Place could be nice with some work

The campground has changed ownership in 2023. A tremendous amount of work has been done to improve the enjoyment of the campground. You are welcome to come back and check out what it looks like now! The campground definitely needed the attention it received!!

Nice Location and great hosts!

Stacked Stones has a very nice location and the camp hosts/owners are wonderful. They truly make you feel like family. The only complaints that we had was the shower house seems like a scene from a horror movie. Cinderblock stalls with a wooden pallet on the floor to keep you off of the drain. The toilets are non flushing pit latrines. They have some very secluded tent sites which is great when you have dogs. They also allow horses which is nice for any trail riders. Overall a great camp ground with great people. If the bathroom was updated I would give it 5 stars for sure!

Palmerosa Horse Camp

I stayed in a cabin and loved this place, the horseback riding is awesome, airplane rock has a view second to none. the box canyon with waterfall is gorgeous (pun intended) but seriously it was fantastic. the cabin was clean and comfortable, and a bargain, no nickle and diming you to death.
