Berlin Center, Ohio provides a hub for multiple camping experiences centered around Berlin Lake and the surrounding wildlife areas. Mill Creek Camping within the Berlin Lake Wildlife Area serves as a popular destination for campers seeking waterfront sites with direct lake access. The KOA Lake Milton Berlin Lake campground adds variety with cabin options alongside traditional tent and RV sites. Several campgrounds in the area accommodate diverse preferences with electric hookups, drinking water access, and fire rings at most established sites.

Camping at Berlin Lake facilities typically runs from April through October, with many campgrounds closing during winter months. Reservations are recommended, particularly for waterfront sites which fill quickly during summer weekends. Most campgrounds provide basic amenities including toilets, picnic tables, and fire rings, while some feature shower facilities and sanitary dump stations for RVs. Electric hookups are available at select sites, though water hookups are less common. As one visitor noted, "Waterfront camp sites get booked early, but they're worth planning ahead for with private beach areas and the ability to dock boats right at your site."

The Berlin Lake area receives consistently positive reviews for its clean facilities and spacious campsites. Waterfront locations are particularly praised, offering direct lake access for swimming, fishing, and boating. Families appreciate the multiple playgrounds scattered throughout Mill Creek Campground. Several visitors mentioned the campground's wooded areas provide good shade and privacy at certain sites, while lakefront areas tend to be more open. Weekends can get busy and occasionally noisy according to reviews, with some mentioning inconsistent enforcement of quiet hours. One camper described their experience: "The sites are well spaced and feel private until you get closer to the lake. Those sites are jammed in pretty tight, but the lake access makes up for it."

    Guilford Lake State Park Campground

    Very nice in Summer

We loved this lake. The water temps were perfect mid June and everyone was so nice! They had clean restrooms/showers and lots of room at each site.

    Punderson State Park Campground

    Solo tent camping went well

I had originally gotten lot #81 but quickly got it switched to #83 because it was just waaaay better. Flatter ground and I was able to go deeper into the woods.

I went the first week of October, and on weekdays, which was great because I had no neighbors.

Staff was great, check in area also has a little store with all the essentials stocked up, lots of trails, great for biking and hiking, a park for the kids, fishing, canoeing, showers, flush toilets, all that fancy stuff was there.

Only down side was occasional road noise which I just can't seem to escape in my area of Ohio. And I personally wouldn't go here on weekends or over the summer because there are RV sites everywhere, which is another thing that dominates my area of Ohio.

Going again, as long as I don't have the kids, I would try for a test space as far from the road and is deep in the forest as possible. Do that at tge right time of year and I think this will be a great spot for me in the future

    Woodside Lake Park

    Nice quiet camping

Quiet tent campsite parked in this area. There are quite a few RVs parked here and it appears lively, but the tent area in hilltop was quiet and secluded. Very kid friendly. At night, there was highway noise in the background. A lot to do here but also very close to Cuyahoago Valley National Park.

Canal Fulton Canoe Livery & Campground

    Great location, laking facilities

The campground runs along 100 yards or so of the tuscarawas River. Sandwiches by a railroad, and walking path. They allow you to drive to your spot to pack/unpack, but have to park in the lot. While the campsites are scenic and what you expect... the washroom, especially the shower are pretty lacking. There's a nice covered picnic area with grills available with your own gas. And a small (toddler) kids area. All in all, a great cheap spot for a quick stay.

We stayed mid September and there was live music walking distance every night, a cute ice cream shop a short walk over the bridge, and a nice playground on the other side of the river that was also an easy walk.

I didnt partake in the canoes... but they do a river clean up monthly and really seem to enjoy what they do.

All in all a great cheap spot for a quick stay.

    Bear Run Campground

    Options.

This is an amazing campground with reasonable prices, an array of camping options to suit different camping needs as well as budget range. I am unsure if I just happen to have gotten lucky and decided to go camping during a special weekend, but it’s Labor Day weekend and I am loving that there is a calendar of events for campers to participate in if they choose to. Activities include wagon rides to the lake, talent show, karaoke…etc, as well as church! This was an unexpected gem as we are from Florida and were blessed enough to stumble upon the right person in a parking lot when my husband asked if they knew of any places that we could possibly camp at nearby and that gentleman told us about Moraine Park. Upon making our way out to here, we found Bear Run and have loved our experience so far. Love it!

    Streetsboro-Cleveland SE KOA

Quiet, peaceful, close to all the things

We stopped here for a couple nights to go to a Cleveland Guardians game and go to Cuyahoga National Park. It was within great proximity to both and had all the amenities the kids and I love. Swimming (wish it were open a little later…) laundry 24/7, a game room, store with just what we needed to pick up a few things, a pond that seemed to always have someone fishing at it (that’s a good thing) and a big wide sites to spread out and have a nice campfire in. (Wood available 24/7 and trash pick up at the site in the AM). It’s always nerve wracking when the fire pits are close to the rigs - loved that these sits were wide. And while there are likely people here it feels nice and spread out.

    Woodside Lake Park

Old Park With Iron Laden Well Water Beware

I stayed at this park for 2 months in 2023 and was planing on staying for 5 months in 2025. I left after 2 months due to iron& sulfur laden well water that is provided in at least half the park. I spent hundreds of dollars trying to filter and clean up the water to no avail. It damages everything and they won't put a treatment system in at the well pump like the 2nd well has so you can filter it to an acceptable level for drinking, cooking, washing etc.

In 2023 I was in a section that was treated and my filters/softener did a acceptable job to make it work. I Used the laundry facilities also. This trip to see family in 2025 I was in a different section and by the second day it was unacceptable disgusting turbid rusty water with sulfur odor. I bought additional filters for Ferrous Iron Water treatment and remediation along with iron out chemical for cleaning fixtures and plumbing system on the camper. It barely worked well enough for a couple weeks between filter changes and rinsing the system for shower use. I Had to buy drinking water in town every few days for cooking, drinking and brushing teeth etc.

New owners bought the park in 2023 and have increased monthly rent from$750 a month to$950 a month but don't seem to care enough about the health and comfort of their guest to do anything with the well water for a majority of the park. Let alone any of the other infrastructure or"amenities" to be generous in there reference This year even the laundry machines where too disgusting to use that we had to go into town for laundry also.

The park needs major renovations to just bring it up to modern standards. The bath house is in decrepit condition moldy smelly and barely cleaned anytime I was over there. Site pads are rip rap 1" to 4" size rock with no fine rock coverings, or in some areas smoother rock and dirt but nowhere close to flat or level. Water drainage when its raining is deplorable and you very well might be in a mud pit at your doorway.

It's sad there are no decent RV parks in the Cleveland area, just old campgrounds that have added hook-ups and market themselves as RV parks and now charge like they are RV Resorts. Reserve a space at your own risk and definitely verify where and what water source you are on. Bring plenty of filters and plan on sanitizing your system after staying there.

What You Should Know

Tips from RVers

Leveling challenges: Many sites near Berlin Center require careful setup for RVs. A visitor to West Branch State Park noted, "On first impression we were not impressed with this park. First the water fill is on an incline so when our tank was 'full' pulling away from fill station it was really only 2/3 full. This was okay for a short weekend but not good planning from who ever designed the park."

Site size considerations: RV owners should check site dimensions when booking. A camper at Ridge Ranch Campground mentioned, "Needed a place to park for the night driving across country. Please arrive before 7pm (office closes) to get a last minute spot if available always call ahead. Great site easy in and out right off route 80!"

Hookup availability: Electric options vary between campgrounds. At West Branch State Park Campground, one visitor shared, "We're at site 160. No electricity, no hook ups, but a HUGE lakefront site. We're in a self contained RV so it's not a problem for us. Beach is right next door too!"
