Best RV Parks & Resorts near New Baltimore, NY

Several RV parks operate near New Baltimore, New York with varying hookup options and site dimensions. Schodack Island State Park Campground provides 30/50 amp electric hookups, water connections, and a dump station on exit, accommodating both standard and larger recreational vehicles. Camp Catskills RV Park features 40 sites with electric, water, and sewer connections in a more wooded setting. "The sites are amongst the most spacious I've ever seen. RV sites offer 30/50 amp electricity," noted one camper about Schodack Island. Arrowhead Marina & RV Park, situated along the Mohawk River, can accommodate big rigs and provides full hookup service including 50-amp power, though it operates seasonally from May through October.

During peak seasons, particularly autumn when fall foliage attracts visitors, advance reservations become essential for RV campers in the region. Most parks require rabies documentation for pets, not just tags. Cell service varies significantly across campgrounds, with reviewers reporting 1-3 bars of AT&T and Verizon at Schodack Island, sufficient for basic work needs and limited streaming. Several parks offer sanitary dump stations, though not all sites include sewer hookups at the pad. While propane fill services are limited, firewood is available for purchase at multiple locations. Winter camping options are minimal, as most parks close between mid-October and early May, with Lake Taghkanic State Park operating until October 15 and North-South Lake Campground closing October 22.

    Blue Mountain Campground

    Family friendly/ rocky tent campsite’s

Located in the Catskills. This is a family friendly there’s bathrooms/showers playground, pool, potable water and a outdoor pavilion. Located near hiking in the Catskills and 15 mins to Woodstock.

The tent site are very richly and uneven, it was very hard to pitch a tent. When it rains theres a horrible smell across the campground.

    Schodack Island State Park Campground

    Spacious State Park

I’ve yet to have a bad experience at a state park. They are always better maintained and are typically more beautiful and interactive than national park campgrounds and even most RV parks.

The sites are amongst the most spacious I’ve ever seen. RV sites offer 30/50 amp electricity. There are several hiking trails, a bike trail, a really awesome playground, boat dock, and lots of picnicking.

The bathrooms are clean. The showers are large, but they do operate on a push system where you can’t adjust the pressure, temp, or how long the water comes out, so just be aware of that. Lots of water fill ups in the campground. Dump station on the way out. Two different book exchanges. Mostly filled with Danielle Steele, which is not my preference, but maybe someone will spice it up in the future.

ATT and Verizon fluctuate between 1-3 bars. It was enough for me to work - downloading files, sending emails, and conducting non-video zoom calls. At night we were able to stream with just a little buffering needed throughout.

Lots of bunnies, weasels, chipmunks, birds, and butterflies. Plenty of space to walk the dog. Be sure to bring your dogs rabies records!! They don’t let you in with just the tag, it has to be the paper records. We’re full time so not a problem as it’s always with me, but they are very strict on rabies requirements

    Definitely recommend.

    Krawczyk Farm

    Beautiful property

Dolores had great communication with us, and we should have followed her written email instructions rather than rely upon the Get Directions link on The Dyrt which took us to the wrong location. We were here for just an overnight. While we found the concrete pad on which to park, we were unable to get onto it with our travel trailer because of the tight parameters in which to manuever. We were, however, able to level-up on the gravel drive next to it and plug into the electric. Next morning we were able to see how we could have possibly gotten onto the pad by circling around through the *wet* grassy field and pulling through onto the pad.  Dolores was apologetic that she wasn't there to help us understand the process.  It is a beautiful property and convenient to town.

    Spacious Skies Woodland Hills

    A peaceful place with character.

My first visit to New York state was amazing, largely in part due to my campsite at the Woodland Hills campground. I had a back in site and was having problems with my camper, and they were able to change to a pull through at time of check in. However, it was in early May and before the summer crowds. The pond has a fountain which sounds like a small waterfall at night, and wildflowers were in bloom. Very nice bathrooms and showers, and my dog loved the dog park.

    Savoy Mountain State Forest Campground

Great campground, though hard to find

Savoy mountain campground is a very nice state park camp, but don’t rely on gps to get you there it will put you on the wrong end of the park in the middle of a rural neighborhood. The park is so hard to find that not even a cell signal can get there, if your looking to unplug this is a great spot!Use the directions provided on the website, they are far more reliable. Very clean park, convenient clean restroom/shower building and helpful staff. There are RV sites and there is a dump station/potable water fill station available at the park entrance, but no RV hook ups of any kind. Sites are spacious and many shaded sites have decent privacy though open field sites are also available, bear boxes are provided at each site as this is black Bear country. Ample hiking to be done in the park and you can access the Mohawk trail right from the campground, the Appalachian trail and Mt Greylock is a short drive away.

    North-South Lake Campground

    Beautiful grounds but…

Gorgeous campgrounds, friendly staff, and spectacular facilities. Loved that trailheads are walking distance from the sites. But we felt very close to campers next to us, not a lot of shrubbery between sites to feel somewhat private. Fire pits are very nice but more catered to cooking instead of being able to sit around in a circle. Also, we picked a site hoping we’d have a nice view of the lake but it’s hard to see from the site and a good walk away. Overall, beautiful grounds but I’d take less facilities to have a more “woodsy” vibe but that’s just my preference!

    Nickerson Park Campground

    Private Early Season Camping

We stayed for two nights mid-week in June and had the entire loop to ourselves. That made the experience a 5/5, but after seeing the site layout, it seems like accessibility could be an issue with high occupancy. Check-in went very smoothly and we were greeted by the new owner of only 45 days. She was extremely pleasant. Most of the campground is filled with seasonal RVs which makes for a different experience. Our site was on top of the creek, close to the path down to the water and close to a hiking trail. During our visit we drove around the nearby towns and didn't find much to see or do with our time. I don't know if I would stay here again just for the visit to the campground given the higher cost, but we enjoyed the one time experience. Verizon cell service was decent, and enough to work remotely.

Guide to New Baltimore

Camping options near New Baltimore, New York extend beyond the Hudson River area into the surrounding Catskills region. The area sits at the eastern edge of the Catskill Mountains with elevations ranging from 100-400 feet along the river to higher terrain moving west. Weather conditions can change rapidly, especially in fall when temperature swings of 30-40 degrees between day and night are common.

What to do

Mountain hiking: 30 minutes to Mount Greylock. Mt. Greylock Campsite Park provides convenient access to the highest point in Massachusetts. "Our site was big and, while not completely level, was workable. There is a nice shop just around the corner, north on Rte 7, with all sorts of food, drink and locally made gifts," notes one visitor.

Lake swimming: No wetsuits needed. Lake Taghkanic State Park Campground offers swimming in a natural lake setting. "Great beach, 5 minute drive from campground. Clean facilities, with a rec room for rainy days. A camp store with all the supplies you might have forgotten," reports one camper. The lake is routinely tested for water quality.

Stargazing: Best September through November. When camping in late fall at Lake Taghkanic, visitors appreciate the reduced light pollution. "Late night, stargazing over the lake is a great pastime, because the water is calm and the light pollution is low," writes one reviewer who stayed through mid-October.

What campers like

Wooded privacy: Natural buffers between sites. Visitors to Spacious Skies Woodland Hills consistently mention the natural screening between campsites. "Your own little wooded oasis. It's got so many different nooks and crannies and so many different levels up and down the hill and valley and just a beautiful peaceful place in the woods," explains one camper.

Clean bathroom facilities: Daily maintenance. The bathroom cleanliness at campgrounds near New Baltimore receives frequent mention. At Mt. Greylock Campsite Park, "The bathhouse was incredibly clean. Showers were great." Another camper noted, "The bath houses never ran out of toilet paper or soap and stayed pretty clean."

Wildlife viewing: Morning and evening hours best. Schodack Island State Park Campground offers significant wildlife spotting opportunities within 15 minutes of New Baltimore. "Many 'exotic' birds. We had frequent visits from Gray Catbirds, and I saw a glimpse of a Bald Eagle through the treeline. There is an abundance of wildlife," reports one visitor.

What you should know

Fall booking window: 3-6 months in advance. Securing campsites for autumn requires planning. "We stayed in late September and stayed on one of their deck sites with our Class B. I LOVED sitting out on the deck every morning for my coffee while taking in the fall air," notes a visitor to Treetopia Campground.

Terrain challenges: Sites often uneven. The Hudson Valley topography creates natural site variations. At Spacious Skies Woodland Hills, one camper reports, "The site was slightly slanted but that did help with drainage when we had torrential downpours." Another noted, "Terrain is uneven. Hit and miss on how flat or level sites are."

Seasonal opening periods: Many close by November. The camping season near New Baltimore typically runs April through October. Lake Taghkanic stays open until October 15, with one camper noting they visited "until the last weekend of the season (Oct 12-14) which was when we were there. The bathrooms and showers are clean and the water stayed hot."

Tips for camping with families

Recreation halls: Indoor options for rainy days. Several rv parks near New Baltimore, New York provide indoor activities. "The rec room has several games including air hockey, foosball, pool and board games. All are free and we enjoyed them," explains a visitor to Mt. Greylock.

Swimming options: Lake vs. pool. Interlake RV Park & Campground offers "a heated pool, a lake for fishing and boating, a game room and snack bar, movies, other sports, and the security of a gated entrance," according to one reviewer, making it suitable for families wanting multiple water options.

Playground access: Check age appropriateness. Schodack Island features "a large playground, boat ramp and hiking/biking trails." Lake Taghkanic also gets high marks from families noting that "The campground has a lake with boat rentals. The park offered many activities."

Tips from RVers

Pull-through availability: Limited but valuable. For larger rigs, pull-through sites at Interlake RV Park & Campground receive good reviews. "Grounds well kept. This is our go to!!" mentions one RVer who appreciated the accessibility.

Electric reliability: Check amperage details. Spacious Skies Woodland Hills provides reliable power, with one visitor noting, "We had a back in site and was having problems with my camper, and they were able to change to a pull through at time of check in."

Deck sites: Added outdoor living space. Some rv campsites near New Baltimore feature built-in decks that expand usable space. "We stayed on one of their deck sites with our Class B (Winnebago). I LOVED sitting out on the deck every morning," reports a camper at Treetopia Campground.

Road conditions: Interior campground roads. When arriving at Schodack Island State Park, be prepared for "roads in are definitely patched and bumpy, but once you're in the loop things are smooth!" The campground features "spacious sites with power hookups. There is water available to fill your fresh water tank along the main road."
