Best RV Parks & Resorts near Coeymans, NY

Several RV campgrounds offer year-round accommodations within 30 miles of Coeymans, New York. Schodack Island State Park Campground provides electric hookups with 30/50 amp service, water, and sewer connections on spacious sites suitable for larger rigs. Arrowhead Marina & RV Park in Glenville features big-rig friendly sites with 50-amp electric, water, and sewer hookups, operating from May through October. "The sites are amongst the most spacious I've ever seen. RV sites offer 30/50 amp electricity," noted one visitor about Schodack Island. Camp Catskills RV Park provides electric, water, and sewer hookups across its 40 sites, though big rigs may find navigation challenging on the narrower internal roads.

Late spring through mid-October represents the primary operating season for most RV parks in the region. Dump stations are available at several locations including Lake Taghkanic State Park and Schodack Island, with sanitary dump services at North-South Lake Campground operating from May to October. Cell service varies significantly across the Catskills area, with many campers reporting fluctuating Verizon and AT&T signals between 1-3 bars at Schodack Island State Park. Pet policies generally allow dogs with proper vaccination documentation, as one camper cautioned: "Be sure to bring your dogs rabies records!! They don't let you in with just the tag, it has to be the paper records." Interior campground roads at some locations become difficult to navigate during wet weather, particularly at Mt. Greylock Campsite Park where visitors noted "very narrow and washed out" conditions requiring careful maneuvering.

    Blue Mountain Campground

    Family friendly/ rocky tent campsite’s

Located in the Catskills. This is a family friendly there’s bathrooms/showers playground, pool, potable water and a outdoor pavilion. Located near hiking in the Catskills and 15 mins to Woodstock.

The tent site are very richly and uneven, it was very hard to pitch a tent. When it rains theres a horrible smell across the campground.

    Schodack Island State Park Campground

    Spacious State Park

I’ve yet to have a bad experience at a state park. They are always better maintained and are typically more beautiful and interactive than national park campgrounds and even most RV parks.

The sites are amongst the most spacious I’ve ever seen. RV sites offer 30/50 amp electricity. There are several hiking trails, a bike trail, a really awesome playground, boat dock, and lots of picnicking.

The bathrooms are clean. The showers are large, but they do operate on a push system where you can’t adjust the pressure, temp, or how long the water comes out, so just be aware of that. Lots of water fill ups in the campground. Dump station on the way out. Two different book exchanges. Mostly filled with Danielle Steele, which is not my preference, but maybe someone will spice it up in the future.

ATT and Verizon fluctuate between 1-3 bars. It was enough for me to work - downloading files, sending emails, and conducting non-video zoom calls. At night we were able to stream with just a little buffering needed throughout.

Lots of bunnies, weasels, chipmunks, birds, and butterflies. Plenty of space to walk the dog. Be sure to bring your dogs rabies records!! They don’t let you in with just the tag, it has to be the paper records. We’re full time so not a problem as it’s always with me, but they are very strict on rabies requirements

    Definitely recommend.

    Krawczyk Farm

    Beautiful property

Dolores had great communication with us, and we should have followed her written email instructions rather than rely upon the Get Directions link on The Dyrt which took us to the wrong location. We were here for just an overnight. While we found the concrete pad on which to park, we were unable to get onto it with our travel trailer because of the tight parameters in which to manuever. We were, however, able to level-up on the gravel drive next to it and plug into the electric. Next morning we were able to see how we could have possibly gotten onto the pad by circling around through the *wet* grassy field and pulling through onto the pad.  Dolores was apologetic that she wasn't there to help us understand the process.  It is a beautiful property and convenient to town.

    Savoy Mountain State Forest Campground

Great campground, though hard to find

Savoy mountain campground is a very nice state park camp, but don’t rely on gps to get you there it will put you on the wrong end of the park in the middle of a rural neighborhood. The park is so hard to find that not even a cell signal can get there, if your looking to unplug this is a great spot!Use the directions provided on the website, they are far more reliable. Very clean park, convenient clean restroom/shower building and helpful staff. There are RV sites and there is a dump station/potable water fill station available at the park entrance, but no RV hook ups of any kind. Sites are spacious and many shaded sites have decent privacy though open field sites are also available, bear boxes are provided at each site as this is black Bear country. Ample hiking to be done in the park and you can access the Mohawk trail right from the campground, the Appalachian trail and Mt Greylock is a short drive away.

    Spacious Skies Woodland Hills

    A peaceful place with character.

My first visit to New York state was amazing, largely in part due to my campsite at the Woodland Hills campground. I had a back in site and was having problems with my camper, and they were able to change to a pull through at time of check in. However, it was in early May and before the summer crowds. The pond has a fountain which sounds like a small waterfall at night, and wildflowers were in bloom. Very nice bathrooms and showers, and my dog loved the dog park.

    North-South Lake Campground

    Beautiful grounds but…

Gorgeous campgrounds, friendly staff, and spectacular facilities. Loved that trailheads are walking distance from the sites. But we felt very close to campers next to us, not a lot of shrubbery between sites to feel somewhat private. Fire pits are very nice but more catered to cooking instead of being able to sit around in a circle. Also, we picked a site hoping we’d have a nice view of the lake but it’s hard to see from the site and a good walk away. Overall, beautiful grounds but I’d take less facilities to have a more “woodsy” vibe but that’s just my preference!

    Nickerson Park Campground

    Private Early Season Camping

We stayed for two nights mid-week in June and had the entire loop to ourselves. That made the experience a 5/5, but after seeing the site layout, it seems like accessibility could be an issue with high occupancy. Check-in went very smoothly and we were greeted by the new owner of only 45 days. She was extremely pleasant. Most of the campground is filled with seasonal RVs which makes for a different experience. Our site was on top of the creek, close to the path down to the water and close to a hiking trail. During our visit we drove around the nearby towns and didn't find much to see or do with our time. I don't know if I would stay here again just for the visit to the campground given the higher cost, but we enjoyed the one time experience. Verizon cell service was decent, and enough to work remotely.

Guide to Coeymans

The Coeymans area sits at the eastern edge of Albany County along the Hudson River, with elevations ranging from 15 feet near the riverbank to 400 feet in surrounding hills. Seasonal camping typically runs May through October, with high summer temperatures averaging 85°F. Most campgrounds in this region feature wooded sites with variable terrain and mixed accessibility for larger vehicles.

What to do

Fishing access: North-South Lake Campground provides multiple fishing spots with both North and South Lake options. "This campsite is by far my favorite in the Catskills! Their staff is friendly and knowledgeable, bathrooms & beach areas are always clean, & the hiking nearby is fantastic," notes one visitor to North-South Lake Campground.

Swimming options: Lake Taghkanic State Park offers a maintained beach area with clean swimming conditions. "The lake is beautiful and clean. Expect to pay $15 fee (I think) to use your paddleboards / kyacks etc. Worth every penny," mentions a camper at Lake Taghkanic State Park Campground.

Hiking trails: Taconic State Park contains numerous hiking paths with variable difficulty levels. "There is a trailhead at the end of the campground that connects to the other trails in Taconic State Park," explains a visitor who appreciated the convenient trail access from the campground.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Lake Taghkanic maintains high standards for their restrooms and shower buildings. "Quiet, clean enough and well worth the price. Showers are hot and there's great water pressure. The cleanliness of the bathrooms depends on how busy the campground is," reports a camper about the facilities.

Private wooded sites: Mt. Greylock Campsite Park offers tree cover that creates separation between campsites. "This place is great. It's got so many different nooks and crannies and so many different levels up and down the hill and Valley and just a beautiful peaceful place in the woods," explains a visitor to Mt. Greylock Campsite Park.

Wildlife viewing: Schodack Island provides opportunities to observe local fauna. "Lots of bunnies, weasels, chipmunks, birds, and butterflies. Plenty of space to walk the dog," notes a camper describing the natural surroundings.

What you should know

Interior road conditions: Mt. Greylock Campsite Park has challenging terrain that affects vehicle access. "The camp has a lot of hills and some are pretty steep. We always bring our bikes and love to bike through the campgrounds, but this one is not good for biking. Our little ones had trouble going down the hills because of the loose gravel," cautions one visitor.

Pet documentation: Rabies records must be presented in paper form at many campgrounds. "Plenty of space to walk the dog. Be sure to bring your dogs rabies records. They don't let you in with just the tag, it has to be the paper records," advises a visitor to Schodack Island State Park Campground.

Weekend noise levels: Crowds and activity levels increase significantly during weekends. "It was a very quiet campground during the week. However, I gave it only 4 stars because when Friday came and the weekend campers arrived, it got loud and rowdy," reports a visitor to Mt. Greylock Campsite Park.

Tips for camping with families

Playgrounds and recreation: Lake Taghkanic offers diverse family-friendly facilities. "Big and spacious state park with many camping options. Has options for trailers, tent sites, platforms for tents and even some cabins. Small store in park that sells firewood and ice and a few other things you may need," shares a visitor who appreciated the family amenities.

Platform tent sites: Several campgrounds provide raised platforms that improve camping during wet weather. "This was our second time coming to this campground and our second time getting dumped on by the rain, but have no fear!! The platforms kept us off the ground and were helpful in setting up appropriate tarp protection," explains a camper at Lake Taghkanic.

Swimming beaches: Designated swimming areas with clean conditions benefit families with children. "Located just about a mile from Kaaterskill Falls this campground couldn't be in a better spot. We had a wonderful weekend there. The restrooms were clean and had showers, which we did not expect," notes a visitor to North-South Lake Campground.

Tips from RVers

Our site was back-in and had plenty of space. There's a lot of green space in this campground and it's right on the river," notes a visitor about the spaciousness at Arrowhead Marina.

Power considerations: Interlake RV Park provides full hookup options at varied price points. "It took me a while to identify a campground that was convenient for exploring the Hyde Park area.
