Best RV Parks & Resorts near Bethel, NY

Skyway Camping Resort and Thousand Trails Rondout Valley provide full hookup RV sites near Bethel, with 30/50 amp electric service, water, and sewer connections. Skyway accommodates big rigs on gravel sites from May through mid-October, while Rondout Valley offers a longer season from April to November. Tri-State RV Park features level sites with full hookups and can handle larger motorhomes, though spacing between sites varies considerably. Mountain Top RV Park has recently upgraded its infrastructure with new 50-amp wiring and improved sewer systems. "The sites are nicely wooded, very well spaced, fairly level with 50A service and water hookup. Although the water spigots were shared between sites, they provide hose caddies that should reach most RV hookups," noted one visitor.

Several parks in the region offer dump stations for those without full hookup sites, though weekend lines can form during peak checkout times. Cell service varies significantly throughout the mountainous terrain, with AT&T coverage spotty in heavily wooded areas. Most RV parks near Bethel close for winter, typically operating from May through October, with only a few remaining open year-round. Pets are welcome at most facilities, though some implement breed restrictions or designated pet-friendly sections. During summer weekends and fall foliage season, advance reservations are essential as parks fill quickly. Navigation to certain campgrounds requires careful planning, as mountain roads can present challenges for longer rigs, particularly when approaching from the west.

    Jellystone Park Gardiner

    FAMILY HEAVEN

This is a HUGE Jellystone park in upstate NY. There are literally hundreds of cabins and RV sites. We are in site 136, which is a back in spot. Plenty of room between campers. Gravel spot which is pretty level. Full hookups. Picnic table, cable, fire ring, large camp store, showers, toilets, and full laundry area. Also has playgrounds, pillow jump, fishing pond, golf carts, game room, Waterpark, pool, and tennis courts. All of this nestled into the mountains. Nice and family friendly.

    Kymers Camping Resort

Fun, friendly & nestled in the woods

We stayed at Kymer's on a whim for a weekend, so we could be close to Mountain Creek for a Spartan Race. It truly exceeded our expectations in all aspects. This is a family friendly, camper-friendly place. Lots of seasonals- everyone waves, everyone stops to chat. This is what a campground should feel like. The sound of laughter and play sitting around the huge, clean pool was refreshing. Our site was Oak 10. It was level, good placement of electric water & sewer connects. Camp store has all the basics you might need. There is a brook that flows adjacent to the property. It's peaceful & magical. Pet friendly, although we didn't have our pup with us. We will be back again. I almost feel like I'm revealing a hidden gem with this post. 💎

    Mountain Vista Campground

    Mt Vista Campground

Beautiful Campground. Clean. Gravel sites. Fire ring and picnic table. All sites have ample room. Lots of pull through for bigger rigs. Wooded. Large dog park. Love the Campground except our site is near a fairly busy road which takes away from that beautiful tranquility. They have camouflaged it as best they could. Friendly staff. Lots to do. Pool, tennis. Sauna, pond for fishing ( catch & release ). Would definitely recommend.

    Jellystone Park Gardiner

    Chillaxing Getaway

We stayed at Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Camp-Resort along the Walllkill River in Gardiner, NY, for a four-night chill-out vacation. We’re so glad we did!

Our site was called Riverfront Red Carpet. It was spacious, level, waterfront, and partially shaded thanks to some mature trees. Site#22 included a large concrete pad, picnic table, charcoal grill, and large fire ring. Everything was in great condition. It was nice having plenty of space to not be on top of our neighbors. We had full hookups with 50-amp electrical service- which all worked fine.

The entire park seemed to be well maintained and clean. There’s a small waterpark which seemed good for younger kids, an eatery, and ice cream shop. The camp store was well-stocked with food, camping supplies, and souvenirs. There is a game room and multiple bath houses(which we didn’t use). The park’s roadways are all paved and easy to navigate. Despite being nearly filled to capacity including tons of young children, the park was quiet each night with no noisy ‘bad campers.’

We found our interactions with the staff to be helpful and attentive. We really appreciate friendly staff.

Overall, this was a great stay at a great RV park. I’d only mention two negatives, neither was a big deal. It took 45-minutes to check-in. In fairness, we arrived at check-in time(3:00 PM) on a Sunday. There were a dozen other RVs checking in at the same time and they just weren’t equipped for that. Also, our Verizon cell service was practically non-existent and the park’s wifi service was just as horrible. If we needed connectivity, this would have been a major problem. I reduced a star in my review simply because it’s 2021 and wifi has become an expectation.

We booked on campspot.com and paid$196 per night+$35 to lock our site+$2 booking fee less a 20% promo discount.

The Pines Campground — Promised Land State Park

Quiet, just remote enough, a Great Lake, and nice camp hosts

I stayed for three nights in a pull through trailer site with 50 AMP and 30 AMP electric. Easy to get in and out of, nice and shady, big spaces so you were not on top of one another, and nice and quiet. Clean and modern bath house, water close by, and great camp hosts. Definitely recommend it.

Lower Lake Campground Northwoods Area — Promised Land State Park

    Northwoods Campground

Big sites with 30 amp service available for RVs and trailers. Each site has a large picnic table and a fire ring with an adjustable grate. The pull-through sites don’t offer much in the way of privacy, but that’s the trade off for convenience. There are two potable water spigots in the campground. The bathhouse offers warm showers, 2 dishwashing sinks, and a coin-operated washer and dryer. The facilities are kept very clean. On the weekends it can get pretty crowded, so it tends to be louder at night then, but the camp hosts and the rangers do a good job of enforcing quiet hours. Access points to several trails are very near the campground. As with all PA state parks, alcohol is prohibited. The park doesn’t have a camp store, however, there is a small general store on Route 390 (The Lake Store) just north of the park that would have any essentials you may have forgotten, as well as ice for your cooler.

    Tobyhanna State Park Campground

    Great family campground

This place only gets 4 stars because I thought we were going to have water and electric hook ups. They only have 2 kinds of sites, modern electric (only electric) and primitive. They have a potable water station and dump station and very few sites with electric hook up. They also have specific pet friendly sites. We had a wonderful time here. We went for Father’s Day weekend in June. The lake is gorgeous! Beachfront swimming and boat rentals, great biking and hiking trails. Sites are mostly separated by trees but are still close. Bath houses were very clean and they have a dish washing sink as well. Beach is within walking and biking distance. Two cons- Bath house at the beach is 50 cents for a 2-minute shower, so we just went back to the campground bath house to clean up. The playground near sites 53-56 is a little underwhelming. Otherwise was a great stay! We already booked another stay in September this year!

    Mahlon Dickerson Reservation

    Nice, small, spacious campground

We stayed at site 15 for 5 days. The sites are nicely wooded, very well spaced, fairly level with 50A service and water hookup. Although the water spigots were shared between sites, they provide hose caddies that should reach most RV hookups. No sewer hookup, but there is a convenient dump station. There are no fire rings in the RV section, only raised grills. We had the place pretty much to ourselves during the week, but the weekend did get busy. AT&T had ok data connection with 1-2 bars most of the time. There is no satellite coverage due to the heavy tree canopy. OTA TV was very inconsistent using an external omni antenna. There is no WiFi. There is a very nice network of trails in the reservation, most if not all were leashed dog friendly. There is a very nice restaurant, Stone Water, less than 10 miles away and is right on lake Hopatcong.

    Happy Days Campground

Quiet, wooded, natural, lots to do in the area!

We stayed at Happy Days from Friday to Monday with our 21 foot travel trailer. Site P6. Pretty level site. We liked this site and the one next to it the best out of all of the sites. George at the camp store was so helpful and we watched him actively keeping up on and taking care of the campground cleaning, etc. the entire time. Showers had great pressure and bathrooms were super clean. We showered after a Spartan Race Mud Run and they were great. Scenic spot, mature trees, we could hear foxes communicating at night. Firewood available at camp store $7 a bundle. No sewer on sites, but has a dump station. Water pressure at the site was very good. Old school playground for kids, volleyball court. The rec hall had a piano, pool table, ping pong table and more. Close to dining, Kauneonga Lake and Callicoon Farmers Market among others. We will be back!

Guide to Bethel

RV campgrounds near Bethel, New York sit in the western Catskill Mountains, an area characterized by rolling hills and elevations between 1,000-2,000 feet. The region experiences distinct seasonal changes with hot summers, colorful fall foliage, and cold winters that close most camping options from November through April. Summer weekend camping requires reservations weeks or months in advance due to limited availability.

What to Do

River activities: The Delaware River runs through the region, offering recreation opportunities at several campgrounds. At Soaring Eagle Campground, guests enjoy direct river access. "Nice campground right on the Delaware river great for fisherman, hikers also great for tubing down the Delaware or canoeing," noted a visitor.

Farm experiences: Several RV resorts near Bethel offer agricultural activities. Pleasant Acres Farm RV Resort provides interactions with farm animals. "The farm has goats, a donkey, and a pony within the campground. Very cool," reports one camper, while another noted "important to not miss: the amazingly beautiful miniature horse that wonders around its huge pin located in the middle of the campground."

Game room activities: Many campgrounds in the Bethel area maintain indoor recreation facilities for rainy days. Mountain Top RV Park features "a nice lounge room with games, a pool table, a TV and puzzles/board games," according to a recent visitor.

What Campers Like

Creek access: Natural water features enhance camping experiences near Bethel. One visitor to Thousand Trails Rondout Valley remarked, "The creek that runs by the campground is gorgeous, and my kids had fun finding Crayfish." These water features provide natural cooling and exploration opportunities during summer months.

Wooded privacy: Despite being established campgrounds, many RV parks maintain natural surroundings. As one camper described, "This is what I want for a Catskill campground. It is not a concrete pad haven." Another noted that "the sites are nicely wooded."

Weekend activities: Skyway Camping Resort schedules family-friendly weekend programming during peak season. "Nice pool, this is a good family campground for kids. It large with nice size sites," reports one visitor. Other campgrounds in the area offer "hayride, animals to feed" and "plenty of planned activities to keep you occupied."

What You Should Know

Variable spacing: Site dimensions differ significantly at Bethel-area RV parks. "The sites are well groomed. We had one and a babbling brook was 30 feet behind us. Great spot for morning coffee," noted one camper at Rondout Valley. At other facilities, visitors report "sites on top of each other" with limited separation.

Weather considerations: The mountainous terrain creates weather challenges throughout the camping season. "When you leave you have to drive the wrong way in the campground because of the low hanging trees the correct direction," warned one RVer about Pleasant Acres Farm. Another mentioned that "the lower area where we were did flood pretty bad a couple times when there was a lot of rain."

Infrastructure updates: Mountain Top RV Park has recently made significant improvements to their facilities. "The newly upgraded camp infrastructure elevated the stay, providing amenities for comfort and entertainment. The investment in new 50amp wiring, upgraded sewer systems, and newer water lines provided convenient camping experience," according to one visitor.

Tips for Camping with Families

Wildlife observation: Children enjoy the natural encounters possible at campgrounds near Bethel. "My daughter loved the horses and goats" at Pleasant Acres Farm, shared one parent. At others, kids can explore creeks for small wildlife.

Multiple playgrounds: Facilities targeting families maintain play structures throughout their grounds. "My kids explored the playground and found it sufficient," noted one parent about Thousand Trails Timothy Lake South. Another mentioned having "a small playground that would be better suited for older children."

Weekend noise levels: Family-friendly doesn't always mean quiet, especially during peak season. One camper mentioned "We loved our full hookup site minus the neighbors' weekend ragers. (At least they turned off the music at quiet hours)." Another noted being "pleasantly surprised by how quiet it was" despite being a large family campground.

Tips from RVers

Overnight stops: Some RV campgrounds near Bethel work better for overnight stays than extended visits. At Tri-State RV Park, one RVer described it as "a parking lot with hookups" but appreciated that it was "Safe, clean, and right on the Delaware River. Groceries and Home Depot close buy if you need to restock." Another called it "Perfect for an overnight stop."

Connectivity considerations: Cell coverage varies dramatically throughout the region. "Cell service is awful for AT&T and our T-Mobile gateway. Had to move to a new site to get away from the trees to get starlink connectivity," reported one camper. Another mentioned "the cell service for most providers is practically non-existent."

Leveling challenges: Many campsites require adjustments for level parking. Visitors report that sites are "overgrown with weeds, un-level" at some locations, while others note "Our site was even and easy to level on." Bring leveling blocks when visiting RV campgrounds in the mountainous Bethel area.
