    SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Campgrounds and dispersed camping sites around Goodman, Missouri provide varying experiences from primitive settings to developed facilities with full hookups. The region includes Huckleberry Ridge Conservation Area, which offers primitive dispersed camping in a wooded setting, while established campgrounds like Neosho City Campground accommodate RV campers with water and electric hookups. Several waterfront options exist, including Shady Beach Camp & Canoe along the Elk River, providing tent camping, RV sites, and cabin rentals for visitors seeking water recreation opportunities. Indian Creek Campground features multiple camping loops with full hookup sites, picnic tables, and access to a swim beach.

Weather patterns and seasonal timing significantly impact camping conditions in southwestern Missouri. Many campgrounds remain open year-round, though spring and fall typically offer more moderate temperatures compared to summer's heat and humidity. Access to Huckleberry Ridge requires attention to road conditions, especially after rain. Several conservation areas have specific regulations regarding camping and fires. Camping fees range from free at conservation areas to approximately $25 per night at more developed sites with amenities. Cell service can be limited in rural areas. A recent visitor to Huckleberry Ridge noted, "Right off highway K! Coordinates looks like it drops you off at the middle of the road but there is a gravel drive. Brings you to a grass lot with a trail off of it."

Most established campgrounds in the region provide basic amenities like picnic tables, fire rings, and access to drinking water. Campers consistently rate Indian Creek Campground highly for its clean facilities and peaceful setting. Neosho City Campground prohibits tent camping and requires registration at city hall during business hours, which can present challenges for weekend arrivals. The Elk River and nearby Grand Lake provide popular destinations for fishing, swimming, and floating. Several visitors mentioned the proximity to water recreation as a primary draw. Ticks can be problematic during warmer months, especially in wooded areas. A camper at Indian Creek mentioned, "There are shower houses with hot water, I have seen the crews regularly cleaning the bathroom/shower houses however be aware that there are still going to be bugs."

      Roaring River State Park Campground

      Accessible and lots to do

We stopped for the night while passing through MO. Tons of spots open on a Monday in August. Cindy at the park office was so friendly and helpful. She suggested spot 100 in campground 2 since it backs onto the river. Lovely sounds! Lots of trout in the river - at that spot, it’s only about 1 foot deep so it was fun to wade in the water and let the pup run around.

Good park store, dump station, trash and lots of hikes to do. Too bad we simply stayed the night

Camp Mi Casa on the Route RV Park

      Bait & Switch

I would not recommend Camp Mi Casa based on my experience. When I originally chose this park, the website clearly advertised the monthly rate as $500 plus electric. After I arrived, however, I was told the price was $700 per month. There was no written lease or rental agreement explaining the difference. I paid the $700 for the first month. The following month I was charged another $700. Then I received a bill for $738 with no itemization explaining the additional $38. When I questioned the difference between the advertised $500 rate and the $700 I was being charged, management refused to correct the website price. I was also told that what I was paying was a “subscription” rather than rent, which I found very strange. For comparison, I eventually moved to another RV park. They charge $450 per month plus electric, exactly as advertised, and I received a clear receipt showing what I paid and what the deposit was for. My issue isn't simply that Camp Mi Casa charges $700. A business can charge whatever it wants. My problem is advertising one price and then charging a different price after the customer arrives, without a written agreement or clear itemized billing. I would strongly recommend getting the exact monthly price, all fees, and the terms in writing before committing to a stay at Camp Mi Casa. My experience was enough that I chose to take my business elsewhere.

Kettle Campground, Cabins & RV Park

Quiet, Lots of trees, Swimming Pool

This is a cute campground with lots of trees for shade. This is my first camping experience and I’m impressed. Most of the campers seem to be long term residents who don’t make a lot of noise. I chose this one because the camp sites were wooded not parking lot fashion. Sewage hook up right at your site. Air conditioned laundry. Nice owners very accommodating. The pool is clean and a great way to cool off. Shower house a little dated but clean. It’s right on 62 and you can catch a trolly for 6$ a day for a full day of rides in eureka. The highway next to it kind of dangerous for an ebike but I just bought a month pass for 26$ My site seemed almost double in size. I started at 17 which seemed tight to get into.

      Regatta On Grand

      First Class Resort

Registration is totally online- you register, pay, and check in online. You will receive a text message the morning of your arrival day asking you to provide an ETA. You will be assigned a concierge who will meet you when you arrive and escort you to your site.

All the park and on-site restaurant staff we dealt with were very friendly and helpful. The entrance to the resort is directly off the main road and is easy to navigate for any size rig. The same inside the park; it's well-marked and easy to navigate.

We were assigned to pull-thru site number S-6. All sites had concrete pads, and they all appear to be fairly level. Power, Water, and Sewer were all conveniently located, and the power supply had no issues at all. We use a power management system, and all electrical parameters were spot on during our stay. Water pressure was very good, and the in-ground sewer connection was conveniently located. Bathrooms, showers, and a laundry area aren't available, although both restaurants on the property do have bathrooms for their customers.

Wi-Fi, Satellite, Cable, and OTA: there is no Wi-Fi in the park. We were able to get AT&T 5G with 4 bars. AT&T achieved 399 Mbps down and 10.6 Mbps up. Satellite reception should not be an issue at most sites, as you can move your dish around to an open area on your site. There are plenty of OTA stations available, and they all had great reception with clear HD pictures. Cable was not available.

Dog Park: They have a nice fenced-in park that is in great condition. The park has a covered bench, and they also provide doggie bags and a trash can.

Amenities: Lots of items are listed on their website, and you are only a few miles from area stores and restaurants. Summary: A great place for an overnight or an extended stay, even if they don't have the normal RV park amenities like showers, bathrooms, or a laundry area

      Whispering Woods RV Park

RV Park for Indigo Sky Casino

Sites have water and electric, and a dumping station. Really nice showers and bathrooms. Don't have to gamble, and fairly cheap to stay with access to the hotel pool.

      Downstream RV Park

Huge facility, well kept & clean.

Huge facility, well kept and clean.  Affordable spacious sites, with 30/50 amp power with water.  Separate dump station.  A bit noisy with the nearby highway traffic, but our A/C drowned out the noise thru the night.  Will stay again, if we ever come back through the area.

      Roaring River State Park Campground

      Very nice

Large spots in Campground 1 with a lot of shade. Campground 2 and 3 are a little closer together. Very clean and quiet. Showers could use a little up dating. It has hiking trails and roads to bike on. Plus the huge spring that creates the Roaring River and a large fish hatchery. Fish for trout.

The Creeks Golf & RV Resort

      Golf Course Stay near Fayetteville

We had a wonderful time! The sites were not very big, but it’s a great spot if you like to golf and don’t need/want much room! Staff was very friendly and the restaurant was a great spot with reasonable prices! Nice view of the pond and discounted golf with stay! Would definitely come back!

    Guide to Goodman

Southwestern Missouri offers diverse camping options near Goodman, where elevations range from 1,030 to 1,300 feet in the Ozark highlands. Campsites in this region experience significant seasonal temperature variations, with summer highs regularly reaching 90°F and humidity levels exceeding 70%. Local camping areas feature both established facilities and primitive sites within conservation areas, each providing different levels of access to the region's waterways and woodland terrain.

    What to do

Kayaking on Elk River: Visitors at Shady Beach Camp & Canoe can enjoy direct river access with minimal planning. "Kayaking/Canoeing is so laid back, there was absolutely nothing to fuss over. Bonus was the float ended right at the camp site," notes Liz C.

Hiking wooded trails: The 11-mile trail system at Gibson Spring Back Country Site accommodates multiple activities. According to Dexter I., "The conservation has 11 miles of multi-use trails to explore (foot, bike, horse)."

Volleyball and social activities: Social campers can find entertainment at River Ranch Resort, where outdoor recreation extends beyond water activities. "They have sand volleyball courts, shuttle to a nearby open air dance club, huge store and restaurant with good pizza and breakfast buffet," explains Jason B.

    What campers like

Hot shower facilities: Reliable bathing amenities rate highly among campers at Indian Creek Campground. One visitor observed, "There are shower houses with hot water, I have seen the crews regularly cleaning the bathroom/shower houses however be aware that there are still going to be bugs."

Easy access from highways: Primitive camping areas provide quick roadside access for travelers passing through. A camper at Huckleberry Ridge Conservation Area shared, "Right off highway K! Coordinates looks like it drops you off at the middle of the road but there is a gravel drive. Brings you to a grass lot with a trail off of it."

Convenient camp stores: Many campers appreciate on-site shopping options that eliminate trips to town. A Shady Beach visitor noted, "The convenience shop had everything you could possibly forget at home and plus! They have thought of everything you might need while camping."

    What you should know

Weekend registration limitations: City-run facilities have restricted office hours that affect check-in procedures. At Neosho City Campground, a camper explained, "You need to go to city hall to pay your camping fee as the campground does not have a place to self register, so if you plan on staying here you will need to get to city hall before they close for the day, and they are only open from Monday - Friday."

River conditions can require paddling: Some waterways lack consistent current, changing expectations for float trips. At River Ranch Resort, one visitor cautioned, "The river had no current, so you had to paddle. And there were spots that were too shallow and everyone had to get out and u had to drag the raft."

Primitive sites lack facilities: Remote camping areas provide minimal infrastructure. At Gibson Spring, "Your water source is the spring it self, remember to treat the water. This site would be great for someone just getting in to backpacking as it is a short hike to the campsite from the closest trail head (took me only seven minutes). No toilets at the site."

    Tips for camping with families

Swimming beach access: Families with children can enjoy dedicated swimming areas at Crystal Springs RV Resort. A recent visitor described it as, "Nice peaceful valley surrounded by springs and walking trails. Close to elk river access."

Weekend activity programming: Some campgrounds offer organized family events. At Indian Creek Campground, a regular visitor mentioned, "On Saturday nights there is a couple from the Corps of Engineers that do free activities for kids and families that we really enjoy."

Playground accessibility: Families camping near state parks can find developed recreation areas. A camper at Twin Bridges noted, "Beautiful sites, busy campground. Great facilities including showers and a playground."

    Tips from RVers

Early arrival recommended: RV campers should plan check-in timing carefully. At Neosho City Campground, registration requires "You will need to get to city hall before they close for the day, and they are only open from Monday - Friday."

Site selection for level parking: RV sites vary significantly in terrain quality. At River Ranch Resort, one camper shared, "The rv spots weren't bad to get into. Site was fairly level."

RV-specific camping restrictions: Some campgrounds have shifted away from accommodating tent campers. A visitor to Neosho City Campground observed, "Site use to allow tents, but does not now, most likely due to the fact that their are no restroom facilities at this campground. All the sites come with water and electric hook ups, and their is a RV dump."
