C and J Sports - Under new management, now Beaver Dam Dive Shop and Resort

Nice spot a little away from the lake

This is primarily a dive shop/convenience store that has a campground and rooms for rent attached to the property. It is clean, quiet, and a pleasure to stay at. Most RV sites are 30-amp with water, but most do not have sewer connections. There is a dump station, but larger RVs may have a problem getting in through the pull through. I have an 18-ft travel trailer and didn't have any problems.

The water is good, but pressure is a little on the low side. There are free showers and toilets available, as well as a pool on site. The store is open weird hours but has a pretty good selection. If you are a scuba diver, they are a full service dive shop. Make sure you get a full tank of air though--the guy filling ours only gave us about 2600psi in ours.

    Monte Ne RV Park

Friendly Staff Will Make You Wanna Come Back

When I came here I had but one reason to check out this area, the abandoned once amazing Monte Ne.  As a bit of a novice urban explorer I was intrigued by the history of this once giant which featured the first indoor swimming pool in the state, hosted a presidential function, boasted a gondola to ferry those visiting the facilities and was a part of a man’s manifesto of greatness.  Then it fell to hard times and eventually to ruin much like so many other locations.

So what makes this area so intriguing?  The ruin is now being slowly swallowed by Beaver Lake and the once grandiose walls are now somewhat of an embraced location for street art.

Rogers has several locations you can camp, but this is the closest to the site itself.  I was excited to check it out and as I drifted further and further away from the Rogers city it started to look more and more remote.  While there were some homes which scattered along the roadsides there wasn’t much in way of civilization.

Then I happened upon my location of the Monte Ne RV Park, a quaint and secluded space which embraces the peaceful location of Beaver Lake and makes for a perfect idealist setting for relaxing. While it isn’t the most updated campsite I had seen it by far was not the worst and the staff in the front more than made up for any short comings of some weary benches here and there.

The typical person staying here while traveling is enjoying hiking and fishing along with boating and other outdoor based activities.  It was a perfect location for access to the lake and though there were several people there, it didn’t seem crowded because the spaces are nice sized.  There are more than a few long term campers here as well and much like any campsite which allows long term camping you can tell the difference in the residence spaces as they have skirtings on their RVs and plants outdoors.

I was able to find a tent site and settled in and was very pleased that it was very quiet.  I met a couple that was also traveling and had been there a couple nights and they had said they had been out exploring a bit in the area and were quite pleased, even made a couple suggestions for me for my time at the location.

My site was typical in that it had a picnic table and fire ring.  It did include electricity, which typically I am not concerned with but it was nice to have so I could charge my devices and edit some video.

Closer to nightfall I noticed several people were outdoors using their grills and moving around because the temperatures were a bit better.  It was nice to see the community I was around and again the staff came around to check on everyone which was a very nice touch.

    The positives of this campground:

    • TENT, RV and CABIN options

    • Shady sites - on hot days this can make all the difference

    • Friendly Staff

    • Free WIFI

    • AT&T Good Signal

    The negatives of this campground:

    • Slightly outdated, needs some paint and some upgrades on some tables and benches

    • Trash - unfortunately when I drove in I noticed trash as one of the first things I saw, this looked like it had been tossed by people coming in and out instead of using trashcans

    • Bumpy Road

Well worth the stop to get to be so close to checking out Monte Ne.  If I was to return to Beaver Lake this would for sure be on my list again!!

Grand Lake O' the Cherokees RV Resort by Rjourney

    Well Run Campground

Cedar Oaks is a very easy campground (CG) to find and get into. We did not have a designated site number but had requested back-in site 90 on the lake or a pull through from 64 to 73. We got our first choice and after an easy check-in we were escorted to site 90 and were assisted backing in. This site had a large lawn area due to site 91 being decommissioned because of flooding a while back. We enjoyed a very nice lake view as this site is probably the best site in the park. The site next to us, 89, was very near on our utilities side, but 89 still had some lake view. There is no cable TV here but we got a good variety of OTA channels. We got 3 bars on Verizon and the park WiFi was average for a park this size. There are permanent and seasonal residents here plus dedicated transit/short term areas. Most sites in this CG have a shot to the southern sky if you want to use satellite. There are two small fenced dog areas but plenty of room to walk your dogs. There is also a bathhouse and boat launch plus slips. This was our second stay here and we would stay here again in the future.

    Roaring River State Park Campground

    Great sites, great sights!

Lots of river-side campsites, choice between wooded or open areas, pit latrines or flushies, and standard or electric sites. There are groop camping and cabins. Heated bathroom is available. On-site showers and laundry, RV Dump stations, and a store that offers fishing and camping gear, souveniers and a small selection of food. During the summer, swimming pool is open. Roaring River State Park is home to a Trout hatchery and the river is stocked each evening with trout for fishing the next morning. Sites have fire pits and picnic tables. Handicapped campers will find an accessible site with a large, flat concrete pad, accessible restrooms, and an accessible fishing area.

Green Tree Campground & RV Park

    Loved our stay!

Great RV site! We went in winter season so it was pretty empty, but the hosts made sure we were comfortable. The bathrooms and showers were very clean and heated. They even shoveled a path for us from our RV site to the bathroom when it snowed! They Wi-Fi signal was strong and fast; there is also good cell service for T-mobile and Verizon for anyone who wants to stay connected. Laundry is also available for a small fee as well as a camp store. The site is only a few minutes from downtown Eureka Springs and is one of the stops on the free trolley line in case you don’t like driving or trying to find parking downtown.

    Rivers Edge RV Park

    Hwy’s Edge RV Park

This Was An Ok, basic Spot To Overnight; pretty expensive at $60/night, but they did give either Sr discount or veteran discount of 10%. This is certainly not a resort, and is at least a quarter mile from White River, feeding Beaver Lake. Pretty Large RV PK, With Many Permanent Residents. No sign at entrance, and we passed it by winding around a neighborhood of houses that was between the RV Park and the true water’s Edge.

Verizon signal was good at 3 jiggers; and stronger than their wifi. We were about 100 yds from nice new looking bathhouse which had wifi antenna with good reception at bathhouse but weak at our camper. Supposedly there are repeaters to amplify the WiFi signal, but they were not operational. We got by streaming YouTube TV through our Verizon Hotspot on our phones. We had to buy an extra sewer hose to connect to sewer, as it was placed so far toward entrance of the site, rather than toward rear of site where electric and water were appropriately placed. Nice courteous staff. We were on a level, narrow concrete pad; ~half of sites were gravel; no picnic table.

Another visitor adds it's "close to a mecca of both biking and mountain biking trails."

What campers like

Convenience to attractions: Many campgrounds offer strategic locations near regional points of interest. Grand Lake O' the Cherokees RV Resort provides "convenient location to town, but surprising quiet for being so close," according to Tiffany D., who also noted "plenty of green space for kids or dogs to play."

Group facilities: Some parks cater specifically to group gatherings with meeting spaces. Big Red Barn RV Park features community areas beyond individual sites. "Our group used the rally barn for meetings, and their fire pit for the evening, which were bonus features," reports Jan S. Another camper mentioned they "had a BBQ our first night which was so gracious and enjoyable after a long day of driving."

Natural features: Campers appreciate the natural settings at several parks. At Crystal Springs RV Resort, visitors enjoy "a little spring onsite" according to Alexis M., while Joe M. describes "nice peaceful valley surrounded by springs and walking trails. Close to elk river access."

What you should know

Site spacing variations: Site proximity differs significantly between campgrounds. Brian S. found Zans Creekside to be "functional but not perfect" noting "it's evident the owner is trying to make improvements to the infrastructure of the park." At Blowing Springs, one camper observed the "RV area has dedicated parking spots for each RV with picnic tables and fire pits" while "the tent area is more or less a strip of mown grass."

Seasonal considerations: Weather patterns affect camping conditions throughout the year. Downstream RV Park provides concrete parking areas that remain usable in wet conditions. "Clean. Safe. Great for an overnight on our way from Joplin to OK City. $30 for electricity and water," notes Jennifer M.

Facility quality: Bathroom and shower facilities vary considerably between parks. Justine S. found at Zans Creekside that "the shower and bathrooms left a lot to be desired. Only one shower and indoor toilet on the side we stayed on and it was just kind of gross. We did find 2 outside stalls with toilets."

Dog areas: Several parks offer designated pet spaces. Big Red Barn RV Park features "an off-leash dog park area which our dogs loved and used it 3-4 times the nite we were there," according to Gregg L. Quiet hours enforcement: Noise levels can affect family camping experiences. One camper reported that Whispering Woods RV Park provides a "nice spot" that's a "well landscaped" environment, conducive to relaxing family time.

Tips from RVers

Parking surface quality: RV site conditions impact leveling and comfort. Ballard's Campground offers varied site quality with mixed reviews. "Large Pull Throughs Shaded with Nice Patio's," notes Dustin O., while another camper found it to be "small and tight" with "not great roads and very tight camping spots."

Pricing strategies: Cost-saving opportunities exist at several parks. Downstream RV Park offers a unique benefit where "stay is free with a membership card from casino," according to Sommer J., who added that the site "had electric and water. Community sewer drop with washout."
