Best RV Parks & Resorts near Faribault, MN

The Faribault area features several RV campgrounds with full hookup options for varying motorhome sizes. Camp Faribo, located on Bagley Avenue, provides electric, sewer, and water connections with access from April 15 to October 15. Rice County McCullough Park offers electric and water hookups with sites accommodating larger vehicles. "Nice showers and restrooms. Paved RV pads. Near lake and excellent bike path," notes one visitor about Lake Byllesby Campground, which features full-service sites including 50-amp electric and sewer connections. Crystal Springs RV Resort in Ellendale maintains level concrete sites over 60 feet long, catering specifically to big rig travelers with 50-amp service.

Reservations are essential during peak seasons, particularly for premium sites with full hookups. Many campgrounds in the region require booking several months in advance, especially for weekend stays between May and October. Cell service varies significantly between parks - while some locations offer reliable WiFi, others provide minimal connectivity. A review mentioned that "AT&T had 2 bars of LTE and Verizon 2 bars of LTE service" at one nearby park. Dump stations are available at most locations, though Rice Lake State Park received feedback about limited big rig accessibility with one camper noting "not the greatest for big RVs." Most parks welcome pets but maintain strict leash requirements throughout camping areas and walking trails.

White Fox — Myre-Big Island State Park

    Nice state park

This is a rustic state park with limited amenities. There are no water or electric hook ups. However clean water is available in the park. The park does have flush toilets and showers. We found these to be in good condition and clean. The showers had warm water. The water stream is on a timer and so are the lights. The shower stalls are Individual stalls. The interior roads are dirt roads with a few potholes they are very narrow. The camping sites are nice sized and relatively private. There is a gravel pad on each site and some have a tent pad. Each site had a picnic table and a fire ring. There are plenty of walking and biking trails and there are walk-in tent camp sites. However, you cannot see the lake from the campground and there is no access to the lake from the campground. We were able to drive through the campground with our 40 foot fifth wheel. But just barely, be careful!

    Land of Memories Campground

Large park and campground with much to do!

The park here has a Frisbee golf course as well as soccer fields and a trail system that wraps the campground and park. In the campground, the spots are plentiful, especially if you winter camp like I do. There are accommodations for any size camper, including pull through locations for big rigs. This campground offers electric and non electric sites. The spots with the most privacy are here by the river. Other spots inside the park are more exposed. If you kayak, there's also a boat ramp! I'd recommend that anyone looking to visit minneopa come here if you have a large rig. The logistics are far easier here, and you're still close to the bison.

    Fish Lake Acres Campground

    Quiet, Lake Views

This campground is great especially when compared with state park camping. Full hookups available, quite a few pull through lots and close to the twin cities! No wifi, so make sure you've got decent cell service and hotspot if you need internet/wifi. Verizon gets ok coverage here, T-Mobile does too. Showers/bathhouses are clean and the hot water runs forever and not coin operated or push button like some others I've been to! Bonus! Good toilet paper in the bathrooms not the cheap stuff. The lake is literally out your door and they do have a small swimming beach and boat launch. MN Horse and Hunt club is about a mile or so up a trail access that is Almosy directly across from the camp entrance. There is an ATM there along with a bar and restaurant. Be prepared to hear gunshots regularly but it's not really bothersome unless you aren't prepared for it. The trail to the club is safe to walk though. The campground ONLY accepts cash so be sure to hit the ATM before you get here. They also charge $2 extra per dog if you have them. Nightly rate for the full hookup site I had was $32 with the dog. They charge .50 c per log for firewood. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. The staff are really nice and laid back. It's a really nice little campground!

    Lebanon Hills Regional Park

    Friendly staff & quiet

Great location for easy access to mountain bike trails. Friendly staff. Clean facilities. Nice trail within the campground. Some sites are more shaded than others in the east loop so look at photos if you want shade. Sites that back up to the green space are very sunny. 87 is a great site! Plenty of space for a trailer or tent with a private “nook” for the fire pit.

    Lake Elmo County Park Reserve

    Great for the kiddos

For a County Park, Lake Elmo has an impressive list of amenities. Before we even get to the campsite let's mention the filtered swimming pond. This man made pond is a sandy bottom and surrounded by a nice sand beach. Large built in umbrellas are available for sun coverage and there is a concession stand and bathrooms with showers. And yes, as I mentioned the water is filtered! No gross goose poop or green algae to deal with! Next to the swim pond is a giant playground with fun for the big and little kids. Other amenities include archery, horse trails, paved and grass trails, camper spots, rustic spots and hike in camping spots. In winter the xc ski trails are lit for evening skiing. Or let's be honest early afternoon. It is Minnesota and the suns down by 4 In the Winter! They also have a newer Nordic center that's open all year round and includes a locker room with showers. The hike in camp spot we chose was on a small lake so it had a nice breeze and made it easy to bring a kayak or paddleboard and hop right in. There is also a boat launch for your larger toys! The trails in the park are quite impressive for its size. We enjoyed a 5 mile loop off the Nordic center and right past the camp spot. A picnic table and fire pit as well as nice flat tent pad were provided. If you're coming in from out of town then you're just a 5 minute drive from Woodbury and all the amenities you'd ever need but the park feels miles away from it all.

    Sakatah Lake State Park Campground

There is plenty to do for the outdoor enthusiasts

We biked the Sakatah Singing Hills Trail from Faribault, MN to Mankato, MN (39 miles). The whole trail was paved, which was really nice and runs through hardwoods forest. We camped in Sakatah State Park and then explored the City of Mankato. Sakatah Lake is a relatively calm lake and seems like a great place to kayak.

They have 5 bike-in campsites near the trail. Other campsites include drive-in sites, electric sites, group sites, and camper cabins. The campsites are secluded just enough so that one feels like they are camping in the woods by themselves.  Unlike a lot of campgrounds, Sakatah State Park has its fire pits above ground. Very nice for keeping warm. Amenities at the campground include showers, flush toilets, vault toilets, dump stations.

    Tresure Island RV Park

    It’s a parking lot…

We are here for a show at the casino and thought it would be fun to bring the camper down and glamp for the weekend. It is just a parking lot but the sites are all pull through and there is plenty of room between sites and ours was perfectly level.

We have dogs so the fact that it’s all asphalt and rock is a bit of a bummer but we are close to the exercise area and they do love little walks. It also seems to be controlling some of the normal bad pet parent behavior we see at even parks. Like letting the dogs run with out leashes or tethering them all day to bark at everything.

The sites do not have fire rings but there are some community ones and it appears the other campers brought their own smokeless fire pits to use.

There is a shuttle to the casino and at 7pm folks seemed to clear out to head over. It was honestly one of the quietest campgrounds we’ve been to on a Friday night.

The bath house is newer and super clean- not a single creepy spider web in any corners.

On Verizon I have full bars so we haven’t tried the park WiFi but we’ve been able to use our chrome cast and two iPads off my cell phone with zero issues. Because it’s in a river valley the air tv single is terrible so we are glad to have the chrome cast with us- since the forecast called for a raining day.

    Albert Lea-Austin KOA

    Peaceful

In the middle of corn and bean fields..very peaceful! Open camp sites some shaded and pull through. Big rig friendly. Pool was closed for repair on our visit but looked like nice sized pool. Staff was welcoming and grounds were clean.  Drive over to Austin and visit the Spam Museum...who knew?

Guide to Faribault

Rice County offers several motorhome-friendly options within a 30-mile radius of Faribault, Minnesota. The area sits at approximately 1,000 feet elevation with seasonal temperature variations from below freezing in winter to humid 80°F summers. Many campgrounds in this region operate from April through October, with several RV parks offering amenities specifically designed for larger vehicles.

What to do

Hiking trails: Nerstrand Big Woods State Park Campground, located about 10 miles east of Faribault, features a network of hiking paths through a unique forest ecosystem. "The trails were great and at the end of the trails there were beautiful falls. The falls weren't huge but there were pretty. A lot of things to photograph," notes one visitor who appreciated the Hidden Falls feature.

Fishing opportunities: Anglers can enjoy fishing at Rice County McCullough Park on a scenic lake. The park provides "two boat/fishing docks, playground, pavilion, and hiking trails for things to do," according to a recent camper. Sites accommodate large RVs with crushed asphalt bases that are "decently level" with "large yard" areas.

Water recreation: Lake Byllesby Campground offers water access about 25 miles north of Faribault. The campground provides boat launches and lake access, though swimming conditions vary seasonally. One visitor mentions, "Great views of the lake and two great playgrounds. Very close to town and good priced," noting that water quality can fluctuate.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Crystal Springs RV Resort in Ellendale receives consistently positive feedback for maintenance. "Very quiet, nice sites. Everyone was very friendly easy to work with... Very well maintained just a great park overall!" comments one visitor about the adult-oriented park with no playground facilities.

Spacious sites: Many RV sites near Faribault, Minnesota feature extra room for larger vehicles. At Lake Byllesby Campground, one reviewer described the recently renovated park: "Spots 1-17 have remained the same and are awesome. Spots 18-46 are second best. Even numbered sites on the lake are better than the odd numbered sites but both have a view of the lake."

Proximity to amenities: Dakotah Meadows RV Park provides convenient access to regional attractions. "Great place to stop and rest when traveling through the twin cities. Great price for full hookup," states one visitor. Another mentions it's "about 100 sites that's big draw is the Mystic Lake tribal Casino" with "sites are 60+ feet, concrete and level."

What you should know

Seasonal limitations: Most campgrounds in the Faribault area operate approximately mid-April through mid-October. Camp Faribo specifically opens April 15 and closes October 15, requiring advance planning for shoulder season visits.

Connectivity challenges: Internet access varies significantly between parks. At Dakotah Meadows, one camper reported that "wifi is not great, less than 1MB download speeds from our site, and our Verizon service was pretty poor in our spot, max 2 bars."

Site-specific features: Hidden Meadows RV Park receives mixed reviews for site conditions. "The parking pads are very unlevel. WiFi signal is weak at best. If you have Verizon don't count on service. Antenna strength is weak. Also oddly spaced power hook up with sewer and water placements," notes one camper who still found the staff friendly.
