Best RV Parks & Resorts near Woolford, MD

RV parks near Woolford provide electric hookups across multiple campgrounds in the area. Sun Outdoors Ocean City Gateway operates from March 15 to October 31 with full hookups including 50-amp electric service, sewer, and water connections for larger motorhomes. Thousand Trails Harbor View remains open from April to mid-October, offering big-rig friendly sites with similar full-hookup amenities. Roaring Point Waterfront Campground accommodates RVs from April through mid-November with water and electric hookups, plus a dump station on premises. Roads throughout Martinak State Park Campground are narrow with limited turn radius, requiring careful navigation for longer rigs. "Very narrow roads with large trees lining the road. A big rig would have difficulty parking if not on a specific site. Most sites are gravel pad with electric. Would strongly suggest only travel trailers under 30'."

Seasonal availability varies significantly between Maryland state parks and private RV resorts. Many campgrounds require advance reservations, particularly for pull-through RV pads which fill quickly during summer weekends and fall foliage season. Several parks offer water and electric hookups without sewer connections at individual sites, though centralized dump stations are typically available. Cell service can be unreliable at coastal and forested locations, with one reviewer noting "Verizon cell coverage was poor" at certain parks. Pet-friendly loops exist at most campgrounds but often with specific designated areas. When approaching campgrounds from main highways, some travelers report tight entrance roads that can challenge larger motorhomes, particularly after dark. Leveling equipment is recommended as many sites throughout the region have gravel bases that may not be perfectly level.

    Milburn Landing Campground

    Not suitable for large campers

Very nice family friendly campground. Clean bathroom facilities, good playground and boat launch. Kids can play safely here as there are only 35 sites + a few cabins. Firewood is available for purchase at ranger station. The roads around campground are narrow with large trees lining the road. A big rig would have difficulty parking if not on a specific site. Most sites are gravel pad with electric. Would strongly suggest only tents, pop ups and travel trailers under 30'.

    Trap Pond State Park Campground

    Favorite DE campground

Last family trip of the year and it didn’t disappoint. We stayed in site D25 again just as we did 2 yrs ago. It’s a pull through site as are all sites in loop D. This is pet friendly and has electric and water. Dump station is across from loop D. There are 5 loops with Loop E being tent and cabins/hurts only. That Loop also has island tent sites. We couldn’t walk into that area. Each loop or area has its own bathhouse which appear to all be individual family style bathrooms.

The layout of the sites in loop D is not typical. All sites in this loop are pull through and parallel to the road, so the left drivers side of your camper faces the road and the right side faces your camp area. If you stay in an inside loop site you will be facing the camper on the other side of the loop. For instance D11 and D14 face each other. The distance between sites across the loop isn’t huge or blocked by any foliage but didn’t seem to be an issue for our friends who stayed in D24. If you stay on the outside of the loop you will either face the woods (higher numbered sites) or loop C through the trees ( lower numbered sites). Our site is pretty level as are most sites. This is Delaware which is flat land.

The one issue with most every site are the trees. Most every site has a tree to watch out for. Other loops are all back in sites and many of those have trees to keep an eye on as well. This is a shaded campground. At the end of each loop is a pier on the pond which is large and beautiful. There are playgrounds in each loop and bike rentals at the camp store.

The tent area is walk in but they provide wheelbarrows or carts to haul your stuff. These sites are very private and well spaced off the walk-in path and from each other. The cabins and yurts are also walk-in but again you have the use of carts. Some of the cabins are facing the pond and offer gorgeous views.

There is a primitive group camp area complete with bathhouse, screened in pavilion, open air pavilion, numerous picnic tables, horseshoe and volleyball courts and sits at the point so the views of the pond are plentiful.

There is a disc golf course within walking distance and the weekend we were there a competition was happening. There is a day use area with boat rentals and lots of trails for hikers or horses to use.

The town of Laurel nearby has a few stores. I found This and That Country Store which was so cute. The owner was super nice. The beach areas of Delaware are not too far away if you want a beach day.

This has become one of our favorite campgrounds in DE.

    Trap Pond State Park Campground

    Quiet, natural simplicity

We had a great experience at Trap Pond. Price was reasonable. D Loop sites were a good size. Comes with a fire ring and picnic table. Site wasn't super level, so just bring enough leveling blocks if you're in a camper. D14 specifically is the last site on the row with an unobstructed view of the pond- we loved it. All sites in D loop had great tree coverage. It was also right near the showers, which were clean & warm, just what was needed. Tent sites are more secluded and are walk-in; our buddies tent camped the same weekend. There was a dock within walking distance of our site. Canoes were available for rent & I highly recommend canoeing water trails through the beautiful Cypress trees. No sewer connects, but there are 2 dump stations and we didn't wait long at the dump station heading out on a Sunday in July. Camp store has all the necessities, yet still simple. Free concerts at the nature center every Saturday in the summer. Nice walking/hiking trails around the grounds also. Dog friendly was a plus!! Lots of dogs were on leads at campsites including ours.

    Louise F. Cosca Regional Park

    Nice small campground

This campground is about 25 sites. Only 5 sites have electric (2, 5, 18, 24, 25)but all 25 sites have water hookup. Weekends are some what noisy because of the games across the street in the park. This is not a gated campground so anyone can come through and have a tour. Park Police patrol the campground 2 times a day. Also the bathrooms are clean, their are 2 stalls and 1 shower, cleaned daily by park rangers. Raccoons run wild at night flipping trash can lids on your campsite hunting for food. Use repel spray to keep the raccoons off your site. Site 24 and 25 are very close together but the other sites are at a distance however, 6 of the 25 sites are unleveled so tent camping is probably the only option. This is not big rig friendly but there are pull through sites but the roads are very narrow and there is only 1 way in and 1 way out (same entrance) there is a dump station at the beginning of the campground with access to water as well. Free of charge. This is a quiet campground and it's cheap for maryland residents and about $20 for non-resident. There is no registration on site it's online only. www.pgparksdirect.com

    Martinak State Park Campground

    Outstanding

Martinak was a beautiful surprise. Lots of woods, leveled sites, clean facilities, no rowdy crowds. We had a great time. The park is pet friendly. The ranger was very vigilant and friendly. We met new friends and even attended a concert at their pavilion 🥰

    Shad Landing Campground

In 40 years of camping, this is the best campground!

Beautiful camping spot with all the amenities. Loops with electric or no electric, Pet-friendly loops and non-pet friendly loops. I have been camping there off and on for 40 years first as a kid and now with my family. I love to go there every year at all seasons of the year. The best campground I've ever found in Maryland. Close proximity to both Ocean City and Assateague Island.

    Milburn Landing Campground

    A quiet and small campground

Pocomoke river state park offers two campgrounds smaller of these is Milburn landing which is significantly farther from the coastal attractions then the larger Shad Landing. It offers level sites with gravel pads, picnic table, and lantern stand, and fire ring nestled beneath tall pines; some also offer electric, but not sewer connections. A centrally located bathroom is clean with showers and includes a dishwashing sink. Verizon cell coverage was poor.  There are also a few rustic cabins if you don't have a tent iorwould rather have a more secure place to sleep.

There's a soft launch spot for canoes and kayaks near the cabins, but no swimming due to water hazards. An official boat ramp is down a road across from the campground entrance.

There's no camp store on location, but Pocomoke City, with it's big box stores, is nearby if you've forgotten anything.

It's a quieter experience here with fewer amenities, but nice if you want to get away and boat, fish, or explore. If you're looking to explore Assateague or Chincoteague, you will find the Shad Landing section of Pocomoke River is more convenient.

    Trap Pond State Park Campground

    Very nice state park

Sites are fairly spacious and have an interesting semi-circle pull through layout so backing in not required. They are not level and have a sandy base so it took a bit of work to finally get the rig level, even with auto-levelers. There are a short to moderate hiking trails and the pond is popular for kayaks. Being near the water means the bugs really came out at night so make sure to turn off the outside lights after dark. Sites have 30A electric and water with a nearby convenient dump station.

    Martinak State Park Campground

State campground, tent loop and elec. loop on the Choptank River

What I like about Martinak St. Park is that the Electric loop (B) has all of the sites on the outside of the drive loop so you are not looking across the road at other campers. The refurbished bath house (in the spring of 2018) is located in the center of the loop along with a small playground. Sites are 30 amp only (no sewer, no water at each site). Water stations are located around the drive loop. Most sites are shady. Limited sites to fit rigs in excess of 40 ft., so check the reservation system first.

The park is located on the Choptank River with boat ramp access, a nature center and pavilion overlooking Watts Creek which is great for canoeing and kayaking.

Close to town and grocery/shopping and other amenities..

Guide to Woolford

Several campgrounds near Woolford, Maryland operate seasonally with varying reservation requirements. Most state parks in the region open from March to late November, while private RV resorts typically run from early April through October. Cell reception can be unreliable at waterfront locations, particularly during storms. Leveling equipment is essential for many gravel sites throughout the Eastern Shore.

What to do

Kayak and canoe access: Roaring Point Waterfront Campground provides direct water access for paddlers on the Nanticoke River. "Nothing fancy here but who needs fancy when you have a beach, fishing, live entertainment and the beast sunsets going?" Kayak rentals available from April through mid-November.

Fishing opportunities: Tuckahoe State Park Campground offers multiple fishing spots along with gear rentals for those without equipment. "There's very finely crushed rock on the non-electric loop. This includes the parking pad and tent pad." The park maintains 20 miles of trails also open for biking and horseback riding.

Family activities: Scheduled weekend events occur throughout camping season at many parks. "They have themed weekends throughout the year. We tent camp but there are RV sites and cabins as well. There is an arcade, camp store, heated pool, playground, dog park, and mini golfing!"

What campers like

Waterfront views: Campers consistently rate waterfront sites as premium locations for RV camping near Woolford, Maryland. "Get up close to the water if you can. Clear beautiful nights you will see awesome star shows!" Some waterfront sites offer unobstructed views of sunsets over the Chesapeake tributaries.

Pool amenities: Tall Pines / Chesapeake Bay KOA Holiday features multiple swimming options. "There is a beach area to swim but also 2 pools. The original pool from when this was Tall Pines Harbor is a traditional rectangle. The new one is larger and also has a large splash pad."

Spacious sites: Many campgrounds provide adequate spacing between sites. "Our site was back by the cabins, which were all in excellent shape. Tall Pines hosts activities for the northern part of the Eastern Shore plus there are 3 pools and a horse riding area."

What you should know

Drainage issues: Low-lying areas throughout the Eastern Shore can become problematic during rain. "We stayed at site 411 for five nights. We'd reserved 406, but Sun Outdoors turned into KOA, so we got a different site lucky us, 'cause the middle ones were swampy with almost no space outside with sitting water on sites."

Site selection limitations: Martinak State Park Campground requires careful consideration when reserving. "Easy to navigate through with a trailer. Nice trails and playground. Bathrooms were like brand new. Water and electric on our loop." The sites are arranged in a loop around centrally located bathhouses.

Insect preparedness: Mosquitoes can be problematic, particularly in areas with standing water. "Bring bug spray, tiki torches, and mosquito fog spray with all the sitting water around the campground." This issue becomes more significant after rainfall and during summer evenings.

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Fort Whaley RV Resort offers multiple play areas for children. "The main pavilion has rentals for recreational equipment at no extra cost (hula hoops, balls, etc.) There are also themed weekends and scheduled activities throughout the week!"

Weekend planning: Arrive before crowds for family-friendly activities. "My kids and I stayed here for several weeks. We met lots of people and had a great time!" Most campgrounds fill quickly during summer weekends, requiring advance reservations.

Equipment rentals: Several parks offer recreational equipment rentals. "We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this campground resort! Multiple playgrounds, minigolf, plenty for the kids to do. You can rent a golf cart, shoot pool, or play table tennis."

Tips from RVers

Site leveling requirements: Many RV sites throughout the region have uneven terrain. "Gravel site pad could definitely use some maintenance and fresh material added. Had to put down boards to park our travel trailer because about a third of the pad had just turned into mud."

Campground navigation: Military Park United States Naval Academy Annapolis FamCamp offers limited amenities but affordable pricing. "Military campground. Very spartan but great location. Not much to do in the campground and some long timers there. Dirt cheap."

Seasonal considerations: RV sites with sewer connections become limited during peak season. "The waterfront sites looked great. There are about 6 I think. There is a beach area to swim but also 2 pools. The original pool from when this was Tall Pines Harbor is a traditional rectangle."
