No-cell service retreat: The lack of connectivity provides a genuine disconnect from urban life. "We stayed here in early June to avoid the chaos of RMNP and were not disappointed. The drive from Golden up into the park is beautiful and you truly feel like you are leaving the noise of Denver and the metro behind. There is no cell service anywhere in the park (for my Verizon phone anyway) which I actually enjoyed," shares Amber B.
Winter accessibility: Several cabin options maintain year-round availability with heating systems. "We stayed at a tent site one night and wish we had planned for two. Sites have a decent amount of space, not much cover or privacy. A couple tents were there, but mostly RVs. There is a site right next to the stream that I would recommend - great to fall asleep listening to the water flowing," advises Sara S.
Budget considerations: Cabin accommodations range from $35-$200 per night depending on amenities and size. "Get site #1, right by the river, for a night. The host, Preach, will make sure your site is taken care of and in great condition for your stay. The entire campground is well maintained. Site #1 is the best campsite I have stayed at. And the price per night doesn't break the bank," according to Grant W.

"This campground was tiny and a little cramped but was very clean and had running showers that was a plus. It was surrounded by trees but they were small which didn't help block the wind. We would stay here again because the staff was very friendly and they had a nice little store and playground," shares Pam B.

Site selection: Look for cabins with adequate parking if bringing a trailer. "Campground is very clean. Loop E (electric hookups) is very spacious and well laid out. Every campsite is a pull thru allowing you situate anywhere along the paved area to best suit your needs. Mostly level, fire rings, and very large metal picnic tables. Enormous amount of room," explains Dennis G.
Weather preparation: Mountain elevations require extra insulation even in summer months when overnight temperatures can drop below 40°F. "The park is very quiet, has many beautiful trails (they aren't necessarily marked the best and the maps mileages are a bit off, but made for a beautiful, longer than expected hike to Panorama Point.) Our site was very clean," notes Amber B. about terrain considerations.
