The Morristown area sits at approximately 2,100 feet elevation in central Arizona's desert landscape, offering year-round RV camping opportunities with particularly popular winter seasons. Temperatures reach over 100°F in summer months while dropping to comfortable 60-70°F ranges in winter. Several RV resorts within a 30-mile radius provide varying levels of amenities and age restrictions that impact availability.
What to do
Boating access: Lake Pleasant provides direct water access for campers staying at Pleasant Harbor RV Resort. The marina area includes boat rentals and a shuttle service for kayakers. "Free shuttle to haul kayak to boat ramp. Great sunsets," notes camper Margaret T. Fishing is popular along the shoreline, with one camper mentioning they "relaxed and fished off the shoreline" at Vista Point.
Golf courses: Several resorts feature on-site golf facilities, including Pueblo El Mirage RV and Golf Resort with its 18-hole course. "This is a self described 5 star RV long stay park. It has almost every amenity you can think of. The park is slowly being converted to all homes. 18 hole golf course on site and a bar and grill," notes Randall Z.
Hiking trails: The terrain surrounding Morristown provides desert hiking opportunities accessible from several campgrounds. "I love the trails here! I was very exhausted after the hiking but the land was worth it indeed," reports Tara L. about Aztec Village RV Park. Multiple trails at varying difficulty levels accommodate different hiking abilities.
What campers like
Resort amenities: Many RV parks near Morristown feature extensive recreational facilities. "There is a swimming pool, 'The Barn', a salon, and a horseshoe pit," notes one camper at Leaf Verde RV Resort. Another visitor to Desert Shadows RV Resort commented, "Pool, Hot Tub, Pool tables. Lots of amenities."
Spacious sites: Black Canyon Ranch RV Resort offers notably large camping spots. "Very spacious sites plenty of room for our 37' with slides out and our tow car! Full hook up site, great amenities and friendly staff!" shares Lindsay K. Similarly, Pleasant Harbor has "large clean spots. All spots are fenced descent pool and small store if you need anything."
Social activities: For long-term stays, organized activities prove popular. As Peg C. notes about Pueblo El Mirage: "There are many local activities and national wonders within a short drive." Robin P. adds that at Pioneer RV Resort there are "tons of activities and social interaction. I'm not real keen on high occupancy parks but I wanted to stay near Phoenix - just not in Phoenix."
What you should know
Age restrictions: Multiple RV sites near Morristown maintain 55+ age policies. "At least one person travelling and staying in any unit must be able to show proof of age 55 or older," states Staci R. about Paradise RV Resort. Pioneer RV Resort maintains similar rules, with Danielle R. noting, "Wanted to camp at a site but you have to be 55, I am 52 and wasn't allowed there."
Varying site layouts: Site configurations differ significantly between properties. At Leaf Verde RV Resort, "Regular pull through spots are kind of like buddy spots as your doors face each other. Back in and deluxe sites are decent sized," notes Dawn F. Black Canyon Ranch offers "easy level gravel sites. Some shade trees, cactus and birds."
Noise considerations: Some parks experience specific noise factors. "There is a shooting range near by. People and pets with issues hearing gun/rifle shots during the day should be aware, you can hear the shots being fired," reports one camper at Pioneer RV Resort. At Lake Pleasant, campers mentioned sites "in the loop near the entrance. Quite loud with all the cars coming and going."
Tips for camping with families
Age-appropriate resorts: Not all RV sites near Morristown accommodate families with children. As one visitor to Sunflower RV Resort noted: "55 and older resort. Not sure how to rate it, but it should be listed somewhere that it's not family friendly." Verify age policies before booking.
Pool facilities: For families seeking relief from summer heat, several resorts offer swimming pools. "Pool was a great bonus for our family after a long day of driving," notes Mikki S. about Leaf Verde RV Resort. Similarly, Pleasant Harbor has a "heated pool" available for guests.
Lake activities: Pleasant Harbor provides family-friendly water recreation. "This was a wonderful place to camp with family and water toys!" shares Heather H. Another camper adds there are "several different RV/Camping options at Pleasant Harbor Marina / RV Resort" including full hookups in the resort or options "out on the 'flat' with just water and power."
Tips from RVers
Hookup configurations: At Desert Shadows, RVers note the unusual placement of connections. "If you're a Class A or C towing, you'll probably have to drop to access the hookups, as they are at the back end of the pull-throughs, not toward the middle as they usually are," advises Ray & Terri F. Check connection locations when selecting sites.
Wi-Fi and cell service: Connectivity varies between properties. Desert Shadows offers "AT&T coverage was quite good, with 2-3 Bars of 5G+ service and speeds up to 23 MB/s. The CG WiFi was pretty decent as well, with speeds up to 4 MB/s, but varied depending on congestion." At Pleasant Harbor, campers report "strong WiFi. Kids were able to zoom without any issues."
Dumping stations: For RVers without sewer hookups, dump station access matters. "Sites are rustic, they've water and electricity, no sewer. There's a dump station as you leave the park," notes Ted S. about Pleasant Harbor. Pioneer RV Resort offers dump service for non-guests: "staff was very friendly in helping us to dumping station. $15 to dump."
