      Village Camp Flagstaff

      An experience in itself!

RV or tiny homes…this place is AMAZING. We were in the RV side very clean, level elite back in with a concrete patio. Picnic table AND propane fire pit provided. The clubhouse has a bar and grill with a GIANT patio, live music, a store, heated pool and spa, a large game lawn and trails behind. Backs up to a national forest. Bathrooms and laundry clean and convenient. Well organized and friendly staff. Cons: trains in the distance and some interstate noise but that’s to be expected. The camp is NOT right up on the interstate you just can see it from various sections of the camp. We only had one neighbor at our site since it was on the end which was nice. Would DEFINITELY stay again.

very busy but very fun and friendly

the entrance is a rocky uphill climb but my 30 year old truck did just fine, very busy and very noisy, sooooo many big families here with big rigs and blasting music but tbh i dont mind (it made me jealous, wish i had a big family😭) lots of atvs here too and you’ll have to drive a good bit to find a spot but its a fairly easy drive and beautiful views

      XXL Rig Friendly!

We have a 30ft Skoolie (2002 bluebird) and tow a 17ft cargo trailer conversion and there were countless spots for us to fit in without having to drop the trailer! This area is VAST and breathtaking. There were a lot of campers when you first enter, but if you drive around you will find something perfect for your setup no doubt.

The only thing I would say to be mindful of and I say this with regard to pets is that there were jeeps, trucks and 4x4s driving past occasionally during the night and they FLY down the gravel roads. We were not at all bothered by it - they’re out there having a good time enjoying the mountains and forests in their way just like we are but just keep your doggos and cattos close 🐾

The roads are gravel and they are pitchy and rutted in areas. Some roads have a several inches droop off too but our bus did great through it. If you pay attention and arrive in daylight you’re absolutely fine. There are VERY few spots to turn around and to take the loop is several miles of gravel road out of the way so just look at the satellite on maps, take it slow and enjoy the view. We only had the time to stay one night but we will absolutely be back. CAUTION: elevation is 7500ft. If you are prone to altitude sickness be wary. You ascend from about 5000 to 7000 pretty quickly. Other than that watch the weather. The roads flood and wash out with rain from the mountains so be alert and plan accordingly and you will be fine. ENJOY and remember to LEAVE NO TRACE 🫶🏻

      McHood Park Campground

      Enjoyable

The City try’s is best to keep it clean and so do the camps host as we saw both city works and the host walking around picking up trash is a nice little weekend trip for dry camping. The camp host are from Winslow so they are very knowledgeable about the area and very nice and willing to help no matter the circumstances. They do have bathrooms but no showers as they are out of order. Camp sites are right by the water for good fishing or you can park up above if you do not like bugs as they are worse down by the water than on the upper campsites.

We stayed one night at Homolovi and it was nice. Only one bathroom facility. Very cool ruins but we didn’t get to explore too much. It gets hot in summer-be prepared.

      Can get far off road

Awesome spot with lots of space to spread out. All long the road there are pull offs and you can go quite far in away from road. Was here on 4th of July weekend and still plenty of room.

      Wonderful campground

We had a pull through for one night on our trip. It was an easy hookup. The trails are a 1mile hike from camp. It was hot so we didn’t get all the way. The bathrooms are ok. We didn’t check out the showers.

Many spots to choose from. Beautiful views of you keep going up the road.

I drove to the very top and ended up veering off to the left. There were several spots tucked in on the rim where I could just look down into the valley. It was beautiful. I was not bothered.

      Pinegrove Campground

      Good, not great

Very clean and very nice camp hosts. The bugs were super intense. We didn’t have a screened in “porch” and it was brutal. Maybe it was just the time of year, I don’t know. But we came from 2 days in Strawberry and didn’t have anywhere near the bug problem.

Lots of people. Pretty typical amount of people, but still lots of people as the places was at capacity.

The free dump was good. ( with paid visit ).

Wasn’t quite cool enough to fully enjoy with air conditioning. It’s Arizona so it’s to be expected. Our high was roughly 88-89. Which was just on the cusp of too hot to not have A/C when hanging out at camp. Coupled with the insane amount of bugs/nats. It just wasn’t a 5 experience.

Lastly, on the way there, there are a TON of boondocking spots. I wouldn’t hesitate to go back in that area to boondocking.

Lake Mary was a fun day for the family. But know that Ashurst lake across the street is for boat fishing. We drive the entire perimeter and there was nowhere to pop up a tent and fish from shore comfortably.

Bonito Campground — Sunset Crater National Monument

      Wonderful surprise!

I reserved this spot last minute as I changed my route from Page to I-40 and I'm so very glad I did. Breathtakingly beautiful. There is a charge to enter the Monument as it's separate from the campground, but it's totally worth it. Lovely visitor's center and kind staff. Be sure to take some of the hikes through the lava fields. The camp itself was clean with well-spaced lots. No fires allowed when I was there, but that was not a problem. It was cold even in May, so come prepared. One of my favorite campsites.

      Amazing place

Very beautiful well maintained sites. Our host welcomed us and informed water and toilet located. This place has water available in two different locations only for drinking, perfect network coverage for Verizon, has vaulted two toilets and trash bins. There is a small creek just below and beautiful morning when early sunlight hits cliffs. It’s 35 min drive from sedona city. They sell fire woods.

      Never again

This isn't a place to hear nature sounds. In fact, you'll only ever hear your neighbors screaming and partying.

The music starts at about 10pm and goes to 3am -- from a multitude of different sites, all playing different music.

On night 1 of our stay, we toughed it out. On night 2, we gave up at 11pm and packed up our tent into the car when they added ATVs driving through the camping loops with music blasting and bright flashing LED lights.

Lava Tube Cave Path on Forest Road 171

      Fantastic Forest Campsite!

I really enjoyed our night here! The road was very accessible and wide so pretty much any vehicle or trailer combo can make it through. It was busy so we had to drive a few miles before we found a quiet spot but we were there during Overland Expo so that might be why.

The only downside was the weird intersection you have to go through right off the hwy. When we went Google hadn't updated yet so our directions were a bit confusing.

      Nice spot near Flagstaff

This was a solid find. When we went there were only a few other campers so we had a pretty quiet night. Though we could definitely hear the 40 and occasionally cars would drive down the forest road very quickly. Otherwise, it was a good pitstop.

      Nice campground in the forest

Pros - beautiful spot in the forest with nice sunsets, lots of shade from trees, small but well spaced, right across the road from the lake, short drive into Flagstaff, clean pit toilet, each site has picnic table and fire ring

Cons - no sink in the bathroom, leash rule was not followed nor enforced by campground host

Great spot | Not too spacious

Great place. It’s a well kept campground with very clean toilets. Sites are a bit too close to each other, but it’s fine if you come with others and can book them next to each other. Some say that the street is too close but from our spot we didn’t hear cars (can’t even see the street). We were in sites 10, 11, and 13.

      Excellent Bathhouse

We were traveling across country and needed a place close to the interstate to stop for the night. We were given clear instructions on how to arrive after hours. The campground had a wonderful view of some mountains and was conveniently located to the meteor crater. . I love the fact that this campground has trees!! That was a huge bonus. . The sites are level and offers lots of pull thrus. . My favorite part: The Bathhouse! It was so nice to have a private bathroom that felt like I was at home. . Bonus: They give a coupon for a discounted entry to the meteor crater. We arrived as soon as they opened and it was totally worth the stop!
