Best RV Parks & Resorts near Douglas, WY

Several RV parks serve the Douglas area with varied amenities and site configurations. Douglas KOA provides full hookup sites with 30/50-amp electric, water, and sewer connections, accommodating larger motorhomes and fifth wheels. The gravel sites feature concrete patios at most locations, though spacing between units can be tight during peak season. "We were too tired to make it to our next stop, saw this KOA on the side of the highway so it was perfect for what we needed," noted one traveler about the convenient highway-adjacent location. Deer Creek Village RV Campground in nearby Glenrock offers 56 sites with full hookups, concrete pads, and year-round availability, while Glendo Lakeside RV Park, operating April through November, provides big-rig friendly sites with electric, water, and sewer connections.

For planning purposes, most Douglas area RV parks require reservations during summer months and especially during the Wyoming State Fair in August. The region experiences significant seasonal variation, with some parks closing entirely during winter months. RV dump stations are available at Douglas KOA, Platte River RV Park, and River's Edge RV Resort, though non-guests may incur fees. Cell service remains generally reliable at parks near Interstate 25, but can become spotty at more remote locations. Pet-friendly policies are common throughout the area, with Douglas KOA and Deer Creek Village both offering designated dog areas. According to one visitor, "Check out at 11 and they close bathrooms 10 to 12, not smart since you have tent sites and they need a bathroom," highlighting the importance of confirming facility schedules when planning your stay.

    Prairie View Campground

    Great Little Campground

Such a great campground just outside of Lusk WY. Pull through sites that are full hookup. Very clean bathrooms and showers (newly remodeled). Also have laundry services. Campground owners are super friendly and helpful. Also a very pet friendly place. They have WiFi that works pretty good. Have had to use my hotspot some when it cuts out. If looking for places to walk there is about a .2 mile loop around the campground, a rest stop 1/2 a mile away with a walking path and also a gravel road across the highway from the campground that barely has traffic. Town has a nice grocery and hardware store. People here are super friendly. Only downside is that it is along a busy highway so you hear some road noise but if you’re in a trailer with windows closed it isn’t very noticeable. Has been a great experience!

    Prairie View Campground

    Nice Campground

The owners were very nice and helpful. The campground was very clean and all sites were decentIy Ieveled graveI pull through with a few extra large sites for big rigs. We had no problems parking and leveling our 30ft TT. Our site was full hookup. Some sites had a little shade. Very nice and clean bathrooms with two showers and two stalls in each. Laundry room had two washers and two dryers. WiFi was good, but streaming was spotty. The campground is just outside of town. Roadway noise was minimal. The town is beautiful and has several great restaurants and if you have kids you must visit Tiger Plunge Pool. Great stop and I would absolutely stay again!

    BJ's Campground

I had a great overnight stay.

There are only a few places to stay in this town and I was relieved on how safe and clean this facility was. Very nice pull through sights and the bathrooms were extremely clean. Dog park right across the street and big rig friendly. This is a smaller place but very easy to maneuver around no matter what size. Loved the grass at each site. Well taken care of and they paid attention to details making it perfect to stay. Definitely a great place for family or Solo Traveler.

    Beartrap Meadow County Park

Enjoyed this nice spot close to Casper

It feels like a municipal campground close to a town, so I was worried about rowdy weekend activities. There was some loud music for an hour or so, but it was just a wedding at one of the pavilions, so hard to be too upset about that.

Some great views and the sites were spaced pretty well. Not complete privacy, but mostly because the thinning out of trees, not because of close quarters.

Bathrooms were clean. Verizon cell service was good.

Our site had a fire ring and a picnic table and was pull through.

    Casper KOA

    Definitely Wide Open Spaces...

We actually would rate this KOA campground as 3.5 stars, because there are some redeeming qualities, but overall it is a better place to just pass through for a night than to plan a long-term stay.

The location is very nice, being just north of Casper, Wyoming, and easy to get off and on the interstate. Surprisingly, this campground was rather quiet despite being near the highway. In addition, there are two bar and grill style restaurants that you can walk to within a couple minutes.

This campground has level sites, but everything is gravel outside of the playground. There are two areas that offer shade trees, mostly for the big rigs, but most sites are out in the sun and close together. We had to share our water and sewer area with the camper next to us. Luckily, he had an adapter for the intake hose, because his outlet was stripped and he could not hook up otherwise. I did not see any tent campers at the time of our stay, but there is a small area available that was grassy.

The pros of this campground include an INDOOR pool, which was heated and felt great. They have a mini-golf area that is due for renovation later this summer, so it is currently offered at no charge. It was fun enough for our 10- and 6-year-olds. The playground is small but nice, and the bathrooms are well-kept. We did not use the showers.

Another pro was the host, Susan. She was very knowledgeable about the area, sociable, and willing to work with anyone who had issues. I found her fun to talk with and she even gave our kiddos some free KOA cups!

Overall, if you need a place to stop for the night, this will suffice. If you want to park comfortably for a couple of days or more, you may want to look elsewhere.

Reno Cove — Glendo State Park

    Large State Park

Arrived at the state park gate and checked in with no issues. However, getting to Reno Cove Campground (CG) was a little confusing. The very nice lady at the gate was pretty sure you took the first left past the gate, which was correct. We were glad we had filled our fresh water tank before leaving our last stop (only had a little over an hours drive as we do not travel with a full tank on long drives) as there was no water spigot in the top portion of Reno Cove. We were in RC-11, which is a large, wide back-in with 50/30/20AMP electric. We were told at check in that if we didn’t like our site, we could go look at Two Moon CG. Glad we didn’t because Two Moon CG has several entrances and is large with 87 sites, most of which are primitive. The electric sites are stretched around the playground area. I would not suggest traveling around Two Moon with a large 5th wheel as there are pine trees overhanging and narrow roads that would have scraped the heck out of our 39’ 5th Wheel. You’d be fine with a smaller travel trailer but be sure to check site lengths and reviews on what type of trailers have been in a particular sites. Two Moon does have potable water spigots near each of the entrances. The rest of the CGs are primitive and we did not take the time to explore them all but they do have various sized sites, for example Shelter Point has big-rig friendly sites, but no electric. The challenge for some of the smaller ones are the rough gravel roads in. The Glendo State Park website under 'Campgrounds' gives a pretty good rundown on sites and which ones are electric. There was no shade at any of the Reno Cove sites but really good views of the landscape and reservoir in our site plus sites 7-10. We did not get any OTA channels nor is there WiFi in this CG. We got 4 bars on Verizon. The dumpsters for the Reno Cove area are down by the boat launch. The nearest potable water is straight past the main park entrance a couple of miles away just past the Marina across from the State Park Headquarters at the dump station. There was a fire ban while we were here but the fire pits we saw were pretty full of garbage. We would have better enjoyed the clear dark skies if the trailer across from us wasn’t lit up like a Christmas tree from dusk until literally dawn. That’s not the park’s fault, just more and more rude campers out there these days. You could also hear the trains from Glendo, but the sounds were not overwhelming.

    KOA Kampground Casper

    Excellent overnight park

The park has full hookups, tables, restrooms, showers, etc.  Very level sights, friendly staff, nice office area and easy check in.  Pet friendly.  The park is nearly all gravel.  Little shade or grass.  It is far enough off the interstate to limit noise.  One of the best features is the Hangar Restaurant across the street.  Great family place to eat, varied menu, full beverage service.

    BJ's Campground

Great place to stay while playing through

We stayed at BJ’s Campground for just one night while passing through the area. We were in our class C while slowly making our way across the country. We had no problems getting a spot here. Sites are gravel for the RV, very level, and very well maintained. All sites are pull through. Hookups are in very good condition. Each site had a grassy area with a covered picnic table. Staff was very friendly and helpful. There was a park across the street with a playground.

The access to the campground was easy.  Use caution when exiting the park.  Google Maps took us down a block to exit the park. This was convenient for our campsite, but ended up with a couple of deep dips at crossroads.  The streets coming into the park did not have dips.

We had 2 bar LTE with Verizon. Our hotspot was usable and performed very well. The campground wifi was average at best.

We enjoyed our brief stay at this campground. We will stay again when traveling this way.
