"Such a quaint town and park!
We spent one night here and booked it for our wedding venue as well! The lake view was spectacular and the park manager, Joanne was so humble!"

This is a really nice campground. The camper cabins are really nice. They have two rooms, a sleeping room and a front room. The sleeping room has 2 bunk beds (4 beds.) The front room has a mini fridge, coffeemaker, toaster, microwave, and a futon. The firepits are well taken care of. It is usually empty when you arrive. There is no.swim beach. The trails and playgrounds are really nice. The bathrooms are heated. The showers are pay showers.
This is one of my favorite campgrounds in Southern Minnesota! It is only 1 1/2 hours away from the TwinCities which makes it an ideal getaway. The campsites are wooded and have enough distance between them that noise is minimal. I especially love the view of Lake Pepin and the nice little swimming beach. On our last stay, we were able to watch eagles from our campsite, which was amazing. They have recently added 3 small cabins to rent which would be a nice alternative to tent camping. If you do plan a camping trip to Hok-Si-La and you're driving in from the Twin Cities, be sure to take Wisconsin Highway 35 through Maiden Rock, Stockholm, Pepin, and other small towns. You can loop back into Minnesota through Wabasha. This adds about an extra half hour to your drive but it is definitely worth it!
Such a quaint town and park!
We spent one night here and booked it for our wedding venue as well! The lake view was spectacular and the park manager, Joanne was so humble! Joanne lives on the grounds so it made for easy access to any answers we needed while camping. We were looking for an outdoor space surrounded by tall trees for our 2020 ceremony and this site hit the sweet spot! There are a number of grassy campsites as well as dirt sites. Bunk cabins are available as well! We stayed right on the edge of the lake and absolutely loved it. So serene!🙌🏾May is the perfect time to go if you’re looking for some peace and quiet away from other campers. This campsite also doesn’t allow cars or generators on any of the camping spots, so be sure to keep that in mind!
Can’t wait to go back!
I’m willing to declare this the best hipcamp site within a couple hours of the twin cities. Most hipcamp sites are not my scene at all, since they generally seem to be in a random unmowed part of someone’s land. It combines the things that I like about the stereotypical hipcamp listing(farm animals of some sort and enough privacy) with things that the stereotypical hipcamp site doesn’t offer(mowed grass and not being in someone’s backyard). I really recommend that you check out their website and instagram, since it gives you a bigger picture of what the farm consists of beyond just a place to spend the night. They are heavy into permaculture. You can buy fresh or frozen produce off of their site, as well as CBD infused products that they make with hemp that they grow themselves. I didn’t get to see their farm area since it didn’t seem to be connected to the farmhouse(available on airbind)/campsite part of the property, but their aerial shots of it are gorgeous. Once normal life resumes I would love to participate in some of their educational opportunities! Onto the site review! Both the White Pine Meadow and the Lakeside Serenity sites are amazing and large. We wound up staying at the Lakeside site, which has a nice view of Mud Lake and one of the herds of goats. You park your car where the gravel driveway ends, and you have the choice to set up your tent down by the lake or in the upper area which is more by the goats. Be prepared to make multiple trips back and forth between your car and your campsite. The fire ring had plentiful stacks of firewood closeby, and there was also an electrical outlet(which was an unexpected surprise!) The mosquito situation was very good, we never even went into our screen house that we had set up just in case it was mosquito misery. There is a designated(and clean!) portapotty for each campsite, the lakeside one ais on the other side of the goat enclosure. It was close enough for daytime trips, but I wish it was closer for middle of the night visits. While the Lakeside site was serene, walking into the White Pine Meadow campsite felt magical. Also buggy. The pines tower over you, and the understory is full of beautiful ferns. The site is mowed, but we still managed to pick up one tick walking through the trail that leads to it. There is actually some educational tick materials in an informational binder that is located in a little structure by the parking spot for the lakeside spot. If you are sad that you aren’t by the goat pen, don’t worry because there is a second herd of goats(and their guard dog) that overlook this site. I would definitely recommend all sorts of bug survival gear to make your life less slappy if you are camping at this site in the summer. Random notes: The lake is pretty, but I’m picky and chose not to swim in it. The goats are friendly and are quiet once it starts to get dark. A goat tender comes twice a day to feed the goats, I’m not sure what staff activity levels are like during the weekdays. I wish that I hada brought ear plugs because there was a fair amount of noisy wildlife activity during the night.
This is a great site a few hours outside of Minneapolis where 2 of my closest friends hosted their wedding. The campsite is really beautiful with lots of great walking paths and a beach area where you can swim in the river. Make sure to reserve one of the large campsites along the water as you will get a spectacular sunset view and there are some great trees for hammocks. The sites have benches and fire pits and are large enough for a good sized group. There is also plenty of parking at each of the sites and they are fairly private.
If you are looking for a place to host a wedding I also highly recommend this location as it is so magical and already has a chapel space.
We stayed on one of the group sites, G6 on the Tour De Pepin weekend. The campground was very full that weekend but the group sites are spacious and well spaced out, (if you can I would recommend G4 or G5 right on the lake for group sites) you definitely don't feel like you are on top of each other or another group. Near the group sites there is also a set of vault toilets.
The campground is very green and luscious, full of beautiful trees, plants and wildlife, we heard bullfrogs, owls, woodpeckers and more (there are also train tracks near by so a couple trains too). This campground is a tent only campground with a couple cabins as well, which adds to it's secluded feel.
There is great lake access for swimming and a shower houses (bring your quarters though, showers cost 50 cents for 3 minutes). The only down side is that you cannot leave any cars near your campsite, you can drive in to drop off or pick up your gear but otherwise vehicles are parked in the main parking lot outside of the gate, which is not a big deal but from the group sites it is a trek to the lot and to the beach.
I would definitely stay here again, the lake is incredible.
Oneils has it all. A great destination place to spend time especially with kids. There is a creek flowing through it to tube , swim and even kayak. Rentals available. Great place areas they have movies in the summer.truly have i t all. Very clean and friendly. Any type of camping is available.
We stayed one with ones day notice after Labor Day. The site was waterfront and one hr prior to arriving experienced a mechanical problem with our tow vehicle. We made it to the campground. They were extremely helpful so much so that we were able to diagnose and resolve the issue on site with tools on hand. The restrooms were spotless. It appears many of the sites are season rentals.
This park had lots of old tree coverage. The site we had was secluded enough from others. But they had sites available that were open to each other good for groups. They say on the description which are linked together. Nice clean facilities. Saw they had an outdoor theater which we didn’t see in action because we weren’t there tell almost 10pm and someone was still in the office. Nice grass trails. Looked like a decent playground.
