Best RV Parks & Resorts near Fish Creek, WI

Door County offers several RV-friendly campgrounds near Fish Creek with varying amenities and site configurations. Tranquil Timbers Camping Resort in Sturgeon Bay provides full hookup sites with water, electric, and sewer connections, operating from May through mid-October. HTR Door County in Egg Harbor features pull-through sites with 30/50-amp service on gravel pads. "The sites are excellent by many standards. The park is very quiet, which is a welcome treat," noted one camper about HTR Door County. Countryside Motel & RV Sites offers water and electric hookups with limited space, while Rustic Timbers Door County Camping accommodates larger rigs with spacious sites that include fire rings and picnic tables.

Most RV parks in the area require advance reservations during peak summer and fall seasons when Door County's attractions draw heavy tourism. Dump stations are available at select campgrounds, though Countryside Motel lacks this amenity entirely. Cell service varies throughout the peninsula, with stronger signals near larger towns. Many parks charge additional fees for 50-amp service and pets, with typical pet policies allowing leashed dogs. Winter camping options are extremely limited as most facilities close by late October. One visitor mentioned that "sites had an L-shaped driveway which was just a bit awkward to back our campervan into but not impossible," highlighting the importance of confirming site dimensions when traveling with larger RVs.

Island Resort and Casino RV Park

Basic RV park with free shuttle to the casino

We were in Site# 14. We had electric/water with a paved pull-through. We travel towing a 14 foot trailer and were able to fit both in our pull through site along with my jeep.
The site was easy to level but the wheels of our motor home were off of the ground.

Check-in is at the hotel. The RV park is not visible from the hotel (it’s back in the woods). There is a phone at the shower house that can be used to request a free shuttle to the casino.

Our site was not shaded with limited trees. This was a smaller lot with our neighbors fairly close.

The lot comes with a picnic table and fire ring.

There was not any WiFi (we used our Starlink). They do not offer Cable TV.

There is not a community outdoor kitchen or community fire pit.

They do not provide garbage service at your site so you must walk to garbage dumpster.

They do have an indoor Swimming pool at the hotel with a sauna and steam shower.

There is not a Playground. There are not any additional play areas like Bocce ball, shuffleboard, basketball sport court, horseshoe, or volleyball courts.

They have a general store in the parking lot of the casino where you can also get gas.

There are restaurants on site in the hotel as well as a spa. The closest big town with stores is Escanaba (about 20 minutes away).

This is solely an RV park. They do not have any cabins to rent or any tent areas.

They have one shower house. The shower house has individual showers (toilets & sinks are on opposite side of shower house).

The laundry facility is located at the BP gas station (located in the parking lot of the casino/hotel). It is a cash only facility, but they have a change machine. It is approximately $2 to wash and $2 to dry a load.

They do not have a fenced in dog park. There are areas to walk dogs.

Bugs did not seem to be an issue.

Some fun things to do outside of the campground are to visit the Sandy Point Lighthouse or Ludington Park in Escanaba.

The casino is smoke-free. It states that the tables are open from 10am to 2am. Not all tables are available though (for instance, roulette wasn’t always available and if they did open up the one roulette table, it wasn’t until 6 or 7pm). The slot machine options are abundant.

    Dovetail Acres Campground

    Relatively New RV Campground

Convenient to Sister Bay in Door County, Wisconsin. Off of WI Hwy 57. Large open field. 27 pull-through RV sites are equipped to handle the biggest RV’s by providing 34′ x 75′ sites. 33 back-in RV sites. 10 walk in tent sites. Pets welcome - $5/day pet fee. New restrooms & showers. No cell service, but very good free WiFi service. Clean campsites, well maintained. No privacy between sites. Gravel driveways. Picnic table. Fire ring. Convenience store & gas station on site - Dovetail Trading Company & Citgo gas station. Registration in store. Accepts reservations. Campground was still open on Oct 23, 2021, even though it's season ended on Oct 18. This is a good campground for RVs. I camped here when I couldn't find another campground that had available sites. I thought it was overpriced for camping in my camper van with no hookups needed, but it was okay in a pinch.

    Baileys Woods Campground

    Peaceful and quiet

General: Baileys Woods lives up to its name – it is a very wooded campground, which provides reasonable separation between the sites. I was surprised that it was not full during the week in June, which made it even more quiet and peaceful. When we reserved, we paid for one night and then paid the balance just prior to arrival. We were greeted warmly and given a map of the campground. There is a 5mph speed limit posted throughout and many speed bumps to enforce this. My only concern is that they were not marked and blended into the road and while this should not be a concern if you are driving the 5mph, they did occasionally trip me up while walking (especially at night) or if you are crazy like me, running laps around the campground.

Site Quality/Facilities: Gravel pads that are all level; most are back-in, but a few are pull-through. You will hear road noise at some of the sites on the perimeter, but it was minimal. Our site in the interior was very quiet with the sound of birds chirping the only noise we could hear. There is a small picnic table and fire ring at each site. Some sites are electric only; some water and electric and some are tent sites.

Bathhouse: There are two bathhouses at either end of the campground, and both were very clean. Both have showers and one has laundry. Nice hot water and hubby reported the water pressure was good in his, but I found it a little wimpy in the women’s shower. There are also two porta-potties, one for women and men; they are cleaned weekly on Monday and were clean when we were there (at least the women’s was).

Activities/Amenities: There is a nice playground. Showers and laundry available. Firewood and ice are available on the honor system – you pay when you leave but since we were there for a nearby family reunion, we did not use either of these amenities. As for activities, not much to do at the campground but there is so much to do in Door County from hiking and kayaking to wine tasting and shopping.

When we lived in the area, we used to take day trips here in all seasons and now we enjoy visiting all our favorite haunts when we are back in the area on a road trip. Baileys Woods (on the quiet side of Door) was a nice base place to do this from. The only things keeping this from a five-star review are the unmarked speed bumps and the incredibly thin toilet paper which basically disintegrated in my hands (we are used to this in state and national parks but hoped for better quality in a private campground).

    O. B. Fuller Campground

On the shores of Lake Michigan

You could drive by and miss this little gem. Beautifully kept up county park with clean shower house. Pet friendly, they even have a hitching post for your pet while visiting the bathrooms. On site hosts.

All sites are within a short walking distance of the beach and some are right on the beach. Site L1 had a good mix of beach and woods. Near the beach is a small playground for the kids.

    Wagon Trail Campground

    Greaet family campground

General: Pride of ownership is evident throughout the campground and there are many different types of accommodations: tent, electric and water, (including some classified as prime), full hook-up, cabins, and yurts. There are also seasonal sites and travel trailer rentals. This campground was as busy as I would expect for Door County in the summer. We checked in at the well-staffed office (open until 9 pm) at which time our site was assigned.

Site Quality/Facilities: Since there are so many different kinds of sites, they vary greatly. Our non-hookup site (#104) had an L-shaped driveway which was just a bit awkward to back our campervan into but not impossible. This site would not have been suitable for a large RV. Some of the tent sites in this loop (#111-113) were called “hideaway” tent sites as they had very long driveways and more privacy. Many of the sites are wooded and there is varying separation between sites but more than adequate. The premium sites have the most privacy and many of these have no one behind them.

Bathhouse: There are two bathhouses, and each is closed for a two-hour period each day. They were immaculate (possibly the cleanest campground bathrooms I have ever seen!). The shower, while a bit on the small side, had nice hot water and plenty of hooks to hang clothes and toiletries. They were clean.

Activities/Amenities: The campground itself has much to offer: playground, recreation area with volleyball net, laundry, dishwashing station, fish cleaning station, recreation room with pool table and arcade games, lounge with fireplace, couches, and books, a camp store, and doggie stations. A couple of hiking trails lead from the campground, including one to Grandma’s Swedish Bakery (highly recommend at least one visit). Nearby kayak and SUP rentals. There is much to do in Door County for active and less active pursuits; this campground is located on the quiet side of the peninsula, but it does not take long to drive to other activities.

This is not our typical type of campground. We used to live within two hours of the northern part of the Door Peninsula, so we only took day trips here; camping here is new to us but we are enjoying exploring many different options.

    O. B. Fuller Campground

    Quiet, clean

Nice little county campground on lake Michigan. Sandy Beach. Clean bathrooms and showers, and a small laundry facility. Electric and water on each site. Dump station is available for registered campers. Sites are large, not crowded. Mixture of short term campers and long term locals. On site host, not a party spot.

    Baileys Woods Campground

Our 1st pick for Door County Camping! Quiet and Close to Everything!

We absolutely love this campground and it is our first pick when it comes to staying in Door County. It is in the middle of the Door Peninsula and just minutes from anything that you would be interested in doing, including catching amazing sunrises from downtown Bailey's Harbor (Just a short 1.2 mile walk away)! Main road in front of campground is not busy and its very easy to run or walk on without really having to worry about cars.

The campground itself is small (.6 miles of roads if you walk every road in the campground), but the spaces are large with decent space between sites. The entire campground is in the woods, so each site is completely wooded. All roads and campsites are gravel, there is very little grass. If you are looking for grass to play on, they do have a large mowed area in along the road that is perfect. There is also a small playground for kids. Our children have a lot of fun on the playground and just running around our campsite. We don't need a pool, because there is an amazing public beach 5 minutes away in Bailey's Harbor. Other than the playground and very small camp store, there are no other amenities in the campground, but you don't really miss them because there is so much to do around Door County.

There are tent only sites, pull through sites, and sites that will accommodate popup campers up to large pull behind campers. Seasonal sites are interspersed throughout the campground. All seasonal campers that we have met are very friendly. There are two bathroom buildings that have showers, one at the front of the campground and one at the back (which also houses 1 washer and 1 dryer). Bathrooms and showers have always been very clean. There are also porta potties by the tent only camping sites. There are also charging stations by the porta potties, since the tent only sites do not have electricity. Tents are allowed on electric only and water and electric sites. Owners are very accommodating and will allow you to put a camper and tent on the same site also. If needed, there are also sites which allow you to hook up to the septic system or you can drain your tank when you leave.

Campground is dog friendly if your dog is on leash. They do sell firewood for $15 per wheelbarrow full (you fill, so you can get your money's worth on firewood if you stack it right). They do also allow you to bring in your own firewood. Owners allow campers to put charges for firewood and things bought in the store to be put on a tab that you can then close when you check out.

This campground does not fill up too quickly. Depending on the time of year, you don't need much advance notice to book a site. If you would like to book for cherry season they recommended calling 4-6 weeks in advance. Otherwise I generally reserve a few weeks before arrival. They do provide a campground map on their website, so you can look ahead and choose your site. If you want one of the larger sites (pull through ones), I would suggest calling sooner rather than later because it sounds like those fill up faster.

    HTR Door County

Heavily wooded and quiet campground with a variety of sites.

We stayed in a pull through full hookup 30amp site with our Class C in the fall, and the leaves were beautiful. This campground is very convenient to many of the places in Door County for visitors so we loved the convenience. It is not close to a lake but is near to Green Bay. The campground backs up to a golf course though.  Very well kept up and clean, with friendly staff. We will definitely go back again!

Guide to Fish Creek

Door County's RV parks near Fish Creek, Wisconsin sit on a peninsula between Green Bay and Lake Michigan at elevations ranging from 580 to 740 feet above sea level. The region experiences cool summers with average July temperatures of 75-80°F and cold winters dropping to 10°F. Many campgrounds operate seasonally from May through October due to the harsh winter conditions, though a few remain open year-round.

What to do

Hiking near state parks: Peninsula Point Lighthouse Access Road offers two dispersed camping sites with lake views. "We camped one night at the first dispersed site and had a great view of the lake from the site. The sunset was incredible," notes a camper at Peninsula Point Lighthouse Access Road.

Biking to local attractions: The campgrounds around Fish Creek provide excellent cycling access to local trails. At Tranquil Timbers Camping Resort, one visitor shared, "Located right next door to Potowatami State Park we were able to ride bike out of campground and directly only to state park trail." Many campgrounds are strategically positioned for cycling to nearby attractions.

Attend seasonal events: Summer and fall bring numerous events to the Door County area. A camper at Rustic Timbers mentioned, "While we were there it was Christmas in July and many campers had decorated. There were hayrides to view the decorations." Local festivals occur throughout the camping season, often with campground shuttle service available.

What campers like

Private, wooded sites: Many campgrounds in the Fish Creek area offer secluded camping experiences. A visitor to Wagon Trail Campground observed, "The sites were private and spacious. The showers were impeccable. There is even a dish washing station." Campers consistently praise the privacy offered by tree separations between sites.

Clean facilities: Bathroom cleanliness is frequently highlighted in reviews. According to one Wagon Trail visitor, "They are well-known for having the cleanest bathrooms/showers in the area and their bathrooms did not disappoint! They are air conditioned with individual, private stalls and hot water!" Several campgrounds perform daily deep cleaning of facilities.

Family activities: RV parks around Fish Creek provide numerous recreational options. A visitor to Rustic Timbers Door County Camping stated, "The newer playground is now open/free and includes a pickleball court, which was enjoyed by everyone. There is also a nice little convenience store and a bar/restaurant with a patio that overlooks the play area."

What you should know

Seasonal availability: Most campgrounds in Door County have limited operating seasons. At Hy-Land Court RV Park, the season runs "May 8 - Nov 1," which is typical for the region. Winter camping options are nearly non-existent in the immediate Fish Creek area.

Reservation requirements: Peak season demands advance bookings. One camper noted, "Book early next year, the word is getting out on this little Mom and Pop place." Most campgrounds recommend reservations 6-12 months in advance for summer weekends.

Pet policies vary: While many campgrounds allow pets, restrictions differ significantly. A Tranquil Timbers visitor cautioned, "Tranquil Timbers advertises pet friendly but they ARE NOT pet friendly. If your dog makes any kind of noise whatsoever, they are NOT welcome." Always check specific pet rules before booking.

Tips for camping with families

Pool facilities: Several campgrounds offer swimming pools with designated children's areas. At Tranquil Timbers, a visitor observed, "The pool is small but clean they have a nice 1 foot deep separate pool for the little kids." Many pools include adjacent playground facilities.

Playground options: Look for campgrounds with multiple play areas. A camper at CAMP Door County shared, "They had live music the weekend that we stayed and the energy was awesome. Lots of tent and car campers in addition to bigger rigs." Some campgrounds offer specialized play equipment like jump pillows or trampoline basketball.

Campsite selection for families: Request sites near bathroom facilities when traveling with children. A family at Rustic Timbers mentioned, "We were assigned site 339 and in our opinion lucked out with the best site possible in our category. We were nicely surrounded by woods with minimal visibility of our neighbors." Corner sites often provide more space for family activities.

Tips from RVers

Site surface considerations: RV sites in the area have varying surface materials. At Countryside Motel & RV Sites, a visitor noted, "Very small spaces (16) right by the road. NO DUMP STATION AT ALL. No garbage dumpster. Water and electric only." Check site surfaces when booking, as many are gravel or crushed stone rather than concrete pads.

Hookup variations: Full hookup availability differs between parks. A camper at Tranquil Timbers stated, "We love the complete hook ups, no worries about electric, water or sewer. It is a little more pricy but we will pay more for the amenities." When partial hookups are the only option, plan accordingly with tank capacity management.

Site spacing impacts: Site dimensions and spacing vary dramatically between campgrounds. At HTR Door County, a reviewer observed, "There's an abundance of sites to choose from - heavily to lightly wooded, pull thru, back-in, full or partial hookups." Sites in newer sections often provide more space than established areas.
